Tuesday morning feel good stories
In Lake Dunlap, Texas a homeowner sent an intruder to the hospital. He called the police to report a possible burglary, but in the intervening moments, before the police arrived, he shot the fellow in order to protect himself.
In Thorton, Colorado, a homeowner got in a fire fight with three burglars, killed one of them and held the others at gunpoint until the police arrived and the police just arrested everyone, including the homeowner, because…Colorado!
Meanwhile, in San Antonio, Texas a woman was being robbed outside her boyfriend’s apartment. She notified her boyfriend who grabbed his firearm to lend aid to the victim. When one of the thieves turned to confront the boy friend, he shot both of them. Police report that they’re both in stable condition, which is good because they’re going to the jail when the hospital is done slicing them up.

Good reading with my cup of Joe.
Colorado apparently isn’t as badly infested with liberals as I thought it was, nice DRT! Pity about the San Antonio, that’s two goblins’ medical bills at taxpayer expense.
If they wait to process the arrest, the medical bills will be on the criminals. I’m sure that, ultimately, it will come down to Medicade paying for it all, though. The real travesty is that the homeowner will most likely be sued in civil court for medical costs, plus the lucrative pain and suffering.
Yeah, what’s sad is that there are lawyers out there who would take the case just to get some billing hours at taxpayer expense, and all it takes is one Judge with a smidgen of common sense to dismiss a case like that.
I think that used to happen in California. Criminals who got hurt burglarizing a home would sue the homeowner and win.
However, in this case, I think it’s more likely the homeowner will countersue and win. They are liable. He is not.
From the Colorado story “We don’t know who fired what shots yet, but we do know the homeowner fired upon the intruders. We are still trying to determine a motive for the robbery,” Barnes said.
Damn, Skippy, let me help you with that – THEY WANTED TO STEAL THE GUYS STUFF!
Correct-o, Instinct, it’s in the very definition of the word, “robbery”!
(sigh. . . headdesk. . . there are days I see the impending collapse of western civilization. . . )
Hopefully the Colorado homeowner will get a speedy no-bill. It’s probably just police CYA in case there’s more than meets the eye (i.e., identifying sheep vs. goats, did homeowner knew these people, etc).
*know these people (edit button!)
Both Texas stories. . .
The Good Guys should have applied the Double Tap, and save the Texas Citizens a lot of taxpayer money in the form of hospitalization, trial, and incarceration.
That San Antonio story link has lot’s more feel good stories too. One homeowner put an end to a neighborhood crime spree by putting a home burglar/arsonist in the hospital.
One in Houston this AM had a kid (16 or 17?) getting stabbed by someone in his house and his 12 year old sister running to a neighbor for help – who thereupon shot the assailant dead. No word yet on the relationship between the assailant and the stabbing victim (who also died) or any word on what precipitated the stabbing.
You know I read these stories about the ass hats going to the hospital and remember being a kid from a very large and poor farm family. I remember us saving up for my older brother to have a very needed surgery on his leg that was not considered critical. I read how I(we) will be paying for these ass holes to get the best of hospital care, legal help, plus food and clothing before they go to jail, if they go to jail. My opinion is changing about some things. I’m starting to think dumping their shot up asses as far down a county road as it goes and calling it good and if we ever see your sorry asses again…well we’ll just kill you.
The cops can take prisoners, I will take scalps.
Great stories all.
But……
Man accidentally shot when customer’s gun falls to floor while at Sanford Cracker Barrel
SANFORD, Fla. –
A customer’s gun fell to the floor, accidentally shooting a man while inside the Cracker Barrel restaurant in Sanford Sunday morning.
The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said after interviewing witnesses at the scene, deputies determined that a customer was on his way to the register to pay for his meal when his legally carried firearm fell from his holster onto the floor, discharging one round, which struck a male patron in the lower leg.
The shooting was determined to be accidental and no charges are expected to be filed.
The man who was shot was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
There is audio at the link of the 911 calls including people who say they heard and explosion and some guy is bleeding.
