Just When You Think You’ve Heard It All . . .
. . . you see something that makes you realize you definitely haven’t.
Wanna take a guess at what the current POTUS is blaming his predecessor for now? If you guessed “for Iran’s nuclear program becoming a serious issue” – well, give yourself a cigar. According to the POTUS’s latest speech, the Iranian nuclear program apparently only became a concern because of US operations against Iraq starting in 2003.
Of course, despite the statements in his latest speech that the Iranian possession of a nuclear warhead poses a “danger”, apparently the current POTUS feels that the Iranian nuclear program really poses only a negligible threat to the USA. I say that because he’s reportedly OKed a deal that appears to leave the Iranian nuclear program essentially intact and unchanged, and only asks the Iranians to give up something amounting to the combination of “Jack” and “Squat”.
For such agreements we all know that often the “devil is in the details”. And I’d sure like to read that proposed agreement for myself to see what he’s signed the USA up to do – and what Iran’s agreeing to do as well. But I guess we’ll have to “pass it to see what’s in it”. The POTUS won’t make the contents of that proposed agreement do public.
Seems to me we’ve had to do something like that – e.g., “pass it to see what’s in it” – at least once before. I guess keeping the details of the proposed nuclear agreement with Iran under wraps must just be some more of that “most transparent Administration in history” stuff the POTUS keeps touting.
Sheesh, and GMAFB. Did he really keep a straight face while spouting that BS?
The Iranians are still referring to the USA the “Great Satan”. They still preach “Death to America”. They are pursuing a nuclear program for one reason, and one reason only: to acquire a bomb. Once they do, they’ll use it – either against US interests, or against Israel (who they’ve repeatedly vowed to destroy). Or they’ll supply it to some international terrorist group who will do the same on their behalf.
This regime running things today in DC really should start calling itself something like “Clueless Convergence.”
Of course, after this last claim that just might be an insult to clueless fools everywhere.

The fact that we would be paying millions to Iran under this deal and that the administration has acknowledged that the Iranians will certainly use some portion of the money to misbehave (i.e., support terror) is alone sufficient, in my view, to 86 the deal.
Kind of like Atoms for Peace what could possibly go wrong.
Yes, I saw that. The empty room he was speaking to, while his head swiveled back and forth, echoed with it. Apparently, he doesn’t know about Jimmy Carter and the hostages at the Teheran US embassy. History means nothing to this moron.
I just hope we don’t get a nuke in our laps because of him.
“… Or they’ll supply it to some international terrorist group who will do the same on their behalf.”
Yup. If they deliver it themselves, there is risk that we will figure it out and retaliate. If they get someone else to do it then they can argue before world opinion that it wasn’t them so they have clean hands. The current occupant thinks that world opinion is important – since he cannot make up his own mind about what is right and wrong.
Nope. Warheads made by different countries have different “signatures.” That is, it is possible to determine the origin of the warhead.
Not sure if that would make a difference in the hysteria following a detonation.
“Crime, once exposed, has no refuge but in audacity.”
— Tacitus, Annals, Book XI Ch. 26
He also invoked Kennedy as some kind of magical reference with regards to his “Push for diplomacy with the Soviet Union”. I was trying to make sense of it. Kennedy was no fool. He may have pushed for diplomacy, but we kept locked and loaded during the Cold War. Guess he also forgot about the Bay of Pigs, Cuban Embargo, and someplace in Southeast Asia…
Not to mention the Berlin and Cuban Missile Crises – where during each we very nearly ended up in a not-so-cold war with the Soviets.
He also conveniently glosses over the fact that it was Nixon’s overtures to China in the early 1970s that broke the logjam and led to effective Cold War diplomacy between the US and USSR.
In short, this speech was quite Orwellian in its use of Doublespeak and the Big Lie. Both the Ministry of Truth and Goebbels would be quite impressed with this speech.
didn’t he compare the republicans to the Iranians chanting death to America ????
Doesn’t Congress have to vote to approve that thing? Can it be revoked at some point?
And since when is paying blackmail okay? Iran can sell its oil on the open market. They don’t need our cash. We have roads and rail lines that need repairs, cities that are in need of jobs, and he’s sending cash to those poisonous snakes.
When is that asshole leaving? I will be SO glad when he’s gone!!
No, it’s not OK. Because
“. . . once you have paid him the Danegeld,
You never get rid of the Dane.”
That old Brit gets smarter and smarter the older I get.
What have the Congress Critters done lately other than getting ready for a six week vacation. All the 0bama has to do is threaten a veto, orange man and the turtle on the fence post will shelve the vote.
I don’t recall the details, but McConnell passed a bill or waiver, or some such, which only required a majority of both Houses, instead of 60 Senators for passage. IIRC.
Just curious. Do any of you actually watch him when he gives these little babble sessions or do you read the transcripts? I can’t stomach the guy at all. Can’t listen. Can’t watch.
Transcripts for me. For the same reason.
I watch for that brief spurt when it’s on the news, but then I wait for Hondo’s analysis and acerbic response.
Doublespeak is a polite word for this entire business. Clouding the issue, avoiding the harsh reality of the real consequences down the road, and babblespeak are trademarks of this (lack of) administration.
I can’t stand listening to him yap for more than 30 seconds, either.
But, dear lady . . . certainly you realize that the term “Doublespeak” itself is an example of Doublespeak?
I’m certain Church, Turing, and Goedel (and many other mathematicians) were quite impressed with that Orwellian term. They (and others) all worked extensively with recursion. (smile)
Hondo, see my quote of Hiram Mann, below.
Babblespeak is an offshoot of Doublespeak.
Did y’all see what John Forbes Kerry had to say yesterday? (He fought in the Vietnam War by the way)
Secretary Knife Kill is apparently more concerned about his credibility with the Ayatollah of Iran than he is with the his credibility of the American citizen via their elected representatives.
Is he invoking Neville Chamberlain again?
Well, then I will invoke Hiram Mann:
No man escapes when freedom fails,
The best men rot in filthy jails,
And those who cry ‘appease, appease’
Are hanged by those they tried to please.
That is frightening, pathetic, and funny all at once. Sounds like Johnny soiled his pants again.
Too bad the administration Kerry represents doesn’t have the same standards and concerns when it comes to negotiating with Republican, huh.
It will be interesting to see how, after blaming all the ills of the world on the previous administration, Obama will be quick to point out that the next administration must take ownership of whatever problems they inherit from him.
Not too long after Desert Storm I read a rather chilling quote. Don’t recall if it came from Dunnigan & Bay’s From Shield to Storm or an article by P.J. O’Rourke, but a local Middle Easterner had this to say: “Don’t go to war against the United States unless you have nuclear weapons.”
Looks like someone is following that advice.
Your homework assignment:
Read, study, and ponder the novel, “THE SUM OF ALL FEARS”, by Tom Clancy.
Cheating by watching the movie will not have the desired effect, due to the curse of “political correctness” having influenced and corrupted its production and plot.
The “Iranian Nuclear Program” should be the surviving Iranians trying to clean up enough of their country to feed themselves. We should have turned much of the habitable land into a glowing, glass covered, earthly version of hell, about 1979. Carter bears most of the blame for the problems this band of barbarians has inflected on the planet. And the French!
The following is what really pisses me off the most:
“Challenger, Gray & Christmas has released its monthly job cuts for July, and it is ugly. The 105,696 job cuts was the highest number since 2011. To put this in perspective, the July job cuts total is a whopping 136% higher than the 44,842 job cuts reported in June, as well as 125% higher than the in same report a year ago.”
This link goes to the article itself.

I know, I know: unemployment is now reported as 5.3%, and these laidoff workers are ‘released’ to look for other work. That does not carry much weight with a lot of people. Part of it is the downturn in oil prices, which cuts the price of gas at the pump.
BUT: two financial forecasters are now saying we will see a rise in rates by the Fed very soon, and a recession will follow on the heels of that rise, before bodaprez leaves office. So, yes, if things go sour (and I think they will), we can blame it all on HIM.
I’m afraid to say anything every time someone speaks out the IRS comes after them.
Obama says – “When Bush took office, Iran had no centrifuges, by the time I took office they had several thousand”.
It’s that old blame Bush thing again.
Trouble is the facts are as follows:
When Obama took office in Jan 2009 Iran had 3936 IR-1 centrifuges processing UF6, and 1963 other centrifuges.
At the last count in May 2015 they had 9156 IR-1 centrifuges and 6264 other centrifuges with an additional 1008 IR-2m centrifuges installed (up from 180 in 2013).
Unless I’m a total math idiot the number of centrifuges obtained and operated by Iran since Obama took office has increased from 5904 to 16,428.
How in the world is that GWB’s fault?

How in the world is that GWB’s fault?
That’s a fair question. I will attempt to answer it in a coherent manner.
It’s GWB’s fault because he was in office before bodaprez.
Here’s my proposal for a nuclear deal with Iran…
The Islamic Republic of Iran agrees to:
— Cease immediately all research of any kind pertaining to nuclear fission and/or fusion.
— Cease immediately all attempts to obtain from foreign governments or entities any material or information pertaining to nuclear fission and/or fusion.
— Submit to random inspections by representatives of the United States and neutral third parties to ensure compliance with above requirements.
The United States of America agrees to:
— Refrain from glassing the entirety of Iranian sovereign territory with tactical and strategic nuclear warheads, and thereby annihilating Iran both as a regime and a demographic entity.
I’m good with those, with the exception of that neutral third party business. I’d prefer a party that will doubtless find violations if they exist. I’m thinking Israel.
