CPO Buob’s murderer gets hit with $1m bail

| June 3, 2015

Bobo sends us a link to the latest news about Darla Renee Jackson, the person who ran over Chief Petty Officer Zachary Buob last week while he was on a motorcycle and she was driving a Japanese shitbox. A San Diego judge set her bail at one million smackers;

“The defendant pushed the motorcycle 300 feet until he fell to the ground and then she drove over him,” Deputy District Attorney Laura Evans said. “From the witness statements, it appears it was a deliberate and intentional act.”

Jackson’s lawyer, Stephen Cline, said Buob “sped by her on a motorcycle and got angry about something and kicked her car, which she had just bought. He kicked her car hard enough for her to swerve and she wanted to get his information to give it to the police.”

Of course now, Ms. Jackson is worried about the future of her young daughter. She should have thought about that before she chased down the young Navy petty officer. He didn’t deserve her death sentence, no matter what he did or didn’t do.

At a million I’m guessing her young daughter becomes a ward of the state if there is no family to take care of her for the duration. Additionally, mama ain’t coming home till that daughter is out of college in a best case scenario.

UpNorth

The driver’s mother, who made excuses for her, will get custody of the grandchild. So, she’ll have a chance to mess up another life, maybe more than one.

A Proud Infidel®™

It sounds to me like her Mother has been a dedicated enabler during her daughter’s life, now she reaps what she has sown.

Kip

Out of college? There’s always less people taking college, including community, than you or me expected. Probably the baby would become a Walmart greeter, a burger flipper or some other uneducated empty when her mom comes home. Grandma or foster would not make a difference.

I don’t think there could be any alternative outcome. You can call it unfair if you are on the driver’s side, or fair if you are on the rider’s side. It’s just going to happen when anyone’s single parent go to prison. It’s just going to happen when there are that many single parents. Misery is always present.

Pinto Nag

15 YEARS TO LIFE?? FOR RUNNING SOMEONE OVER LIKE A DOG?? I BET IF SHE’D HAVE SHOT HIM, SHE’D GET MORE TIME!!

GODDAM THAT MAKES ME SO MAD I CAN’T SEE!!

Hondo

PN: I believe that’s the specified sentencing range for 1st degree murder convictions in CA, regardless of method. One of our lawyer readers may be able to confirm/refute that.

Pinto Nag

What can I say? California. I guess I should be glad they didn’t set her bail at one dollar and throw her a parade.

Flagwaver

One of our actual lawyer readers or one of those set to be disbarred and become a ward of California in the coming month?

Hondo

Well, I’d prefer to see a coherent and accurate opinion regarding CA laws on murder/manslaughter. That may well affect the answer to your question above. (smile)

Everyone open up your TAH Hymnal…

/it still works but even better. Why is the collection plate full of bullets?

MkTexan

Haha!!!

HMCS(FMF) ret.

Surprised that the allowed for bail… as for her story, she should have though about her daughter before she got angry and killed Chief Buob.

MikeD

He kicked her car hard enough for her to swerve

Because he was the Incredible Hulk, he was able to exert thousands of pounds of force with his foot forcing the car to swerve, and yet miraculously maintain his balance on a motorcycle. Yup, seems reasonable to me.

and she wanted to get his information to give it to the police.

Because the best way to get a motorcyclist’s information is to run them over. I mean, it’s NOT like they have license plates or anything.

A Proud Infidel®™

Do the crime, do the time. What about CPO Buob’s right to life that she denied him?

Pinto Nag

What about HIS family? Does he have any children?

A Proud Infidel®™

Ditto that, his wife and kids have been denied his presence for the rest of their lives while her kid gets Momma back either when her sentence is over with or she gets paroled.

AW1Ed

Heard on the radio today two of her former boyfriends had restraining orders placed on her. Batshit crazy with anger issues is no way to go through life.

Martinjmpr

What I heard was that she specifically threatened to run over them with her car. Seriously.

Hondo

As a layman, if that’s accurate to me that doesn’t exactly seem helpful to the defendant’s case.

Hondo

Damn – try at least FOUR restraining orders due to multiple threats.

http://fox5sandiego.com/2015/06/02/1m-bail-set-for-woman-accused-of-running-down-motorcyclist/

Bobo

With all of those restraining orders, you’d think that she’s running a blog that has outted a very pissed off CA attorney and a Jag driving tranny.

Hack Stone

Check fire on the comments. If you have not received an email from Jonn this week, drop him a line to get the situation report. Over.

Jackson’s defense attorney Stephen Cline says ‘She’s 25 years old, she’s got a 3 1/2-year-old child at home and she’s charged with murder. I think that’s a pretty heavy-duty thing to swallow.’

‘She’s very sorry, she’s very scared, she’s very upset, she’s very traumatized,’ Cline added.

Guess what FUCKERS he’s Very DEAD, so chew on that you SHITSTAINS.

/FUCK HER HARD

Pinto Nag

^^^ WORD ^^^

Flagwaver

You just know her attorney is going to try and make her out to be the victim.

jedipsycho (Certified Space Shuttle Door Gunner)

Maybe she should have swallowed something else.

Pinto Nag

WHERE is the information about the VICTIM in this case??? If a WOMAN had been riding that motorcycle and been run over, she’d be up for SAINTHOOD by now!

Flagwaver

She’s very sorry…
No shit, she’s sorry that she’s facing a penalty for what she has doubtless not been penalized for before.

…she’s very scared…
No shit, she scared that she’s going away for a very long time and won’t be able to rage at her boyfriends, her neighborhood, or innocent people ever again.

…she’s very upset…
No shit, she’s upset that she let her anger get the better of her yet again and this time she killed someone.

…she’s very traumatized…
Bullshit. The only reason she’s saying that is to get sympathy. Well, she done fucked up and killed an active duty sailor. The closest thing she can look forward to that involves sympathy is to be out of jail before menopause.

streetsweeper

Its not that far up I-5 to Lerdo Facility. Maybe the thought of going to the womens prison finally going hit her between the headlamps…

Ex-PH2

She’s scared? She should be scared. Not just scared, but afraid… very afraid.

If she wanted his insurance info, she could simply have memorized his license plate number and tracked him down that way, or honked at him to get his attention to pull off the road. That is what a reasoning person would do.

Instead, she rode his bumper until he crashed and then ran over him, and then drove away. That is a deliberate act fueled by an out-of-control bad temper, not
much else.

She can make all the excuses she wants to. Her mother will raise the kid, and I’m sure this will go to appeal. It’s quite obvious that she doesn’t give a damn about anyone but herself.

I find it interesting that there are two restraining orders against her, as well.

Hayabusa

Funny how a few days behind bars appear to have taken all the feistiness right out of her. Reality may take a while to set in for some people, but when it does, it’s an ass-kicker.

JohnE

Taking another humans life because he kicked your car. Makes no sense to me.

RiP CPO Buob.

Hayabusa

Supposedly kicked her car. According to her. The only facts that we actually know at this point are that she ran him over and killed him, and that witnesses told the police it appeared to be intentional. Other than that, I don’t put a lot of stock in the self-serving statement of the defendant.

C2Show

Kicked her car hard enough to swerve? Seriously, come on…that is the dumbest thing an attorney could say. Who are they really trying to sell this to? Even if it did how does that justify running over someone?

Hack Stone

If you want idiotic statements from an attorney, yesterday morning on WMAL, the attorney that represented quadruple murder suspect Daron Wint in previous cases said that just because his DNA was found on some pizza in the bedroom where the murders was committed and he tens of thousands of dollars in $100 bills like was taken from the scene of the crime, he is totally innocent. Besides, he is from British Guyana, and people from their are great people. Not sure how that is a defense, but the guy put it out there. Someone else at work heard the attorney on the sports talk channel. He must have spent the morning hitting every radio station in DC. By the end of the day, the Public Defenders office in DC stated emphatically that this clown attorney is not representing the murder suspect.

MrBill

Ah yes, good old Robin Ficker. As well known for being a sports heckler as anything else. Being saddled with a name like that, it’s a wonder he’s not a bigger jackwagon than he is.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

1 mil bail + witness statements + murder 1 charge = big trouble.

She will atempt plea agreement. CPO’s family and DA will not agree.

Betcha bag of donuts!

Flagwaver

This is an open and shut case. A blind, deaf, dumb, retarded, armless, legless monkey could get a conviction on this case. As a matter of fact, I can only think of one lawer that could possibly lose this case and he won’t even be a lawer much longer.

2/17 Air Cav

What you wrote is the oil FOR a plea bargain. Such cases allow the state to dispense with trial, the DA to get the ‘conviction,’ and the defendant to be penalized. She won’t have to ask for a deal. It will be delivered to her like it was a Dominos pizza. The only question is what the state will offer in exchange for her admission. And that bail? It’s high but it’s available; yet, the San Diego County bail schedule provides “NO BAIL” for murder. Thus, the judge has already cut her some slack.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

You are correct. The judge cut slack!

The family and procecuter won’t.

I betcha a bag of donuts!

Unless Sen. Dial steals said bag of donuts … Then it will be a beer.

2/17 Air Cav

I understand that San Diego is a Navy town and that the pressure will be great to go to trial. Nonetheless, EVEN IF the prosecutor is a former Navy guy who rides a motorcycle (and I have no info that he or she is or does) it’s Let’s Make a Deal, starring Monte Prosecutor. I do not do bags of donuts. I will bet you a $10 gift certificate to DDs. Jonn gets it no matter who wins.

Mr Wolf

You mean a bag of dog nuts, right?

David

Wow… running a guy over gets you the same bail as being in a Texas parking lot where someone else is shooting people.

SFC D

Say goodnight, Gracie

Skippy

That’s a understatement, I hope while she dose time>>> she doesn’t get a restraining order from another inmate because she try’s to run them over ! ! ! ! 🙂

streetsweeper

You have yourself a bet, MCPO…Kristy Kreme.

sapper3307

IMO she is gonna get a short prison sentence a lot of probation/parole with a trendy ankle monitor and some work crew time cleaning up litter beside the road she took our brothers life on. The more I read about her boohooing the more she needs to water boarded to death.
IMNSHO

Thunderstixx

Well, I do hope that she spends many, many years in prison and serves as an example of what happens when you intentionally kill a biker.
So many get nothing other than a traffic ticket, at least this one had witnesses that stopped to help out and gave their names to the investigating officers.
It is dangerous out there, of that there is no doubt.
Then you get all these morons on Facebook saying that they will run over a biker if they get in their way.
I try to stay out of the melee and let the idiots be idiots with someone else.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Betcha procecuter asked for no bail!

Judge sets a 1 mil.

Now it is a dance …

She will get max for manslaughter or minimum for murder!

There is no way out of this!

Sen. Dial just stole the donuts!

Dave Hardin

Hold on, if he did indeed drive up to her car and kick it she is not the only one a fault. This tread is taking on a tone of some innocent biker who was run down for simply being in the way.

No he wasn’t. Did he deserve to die, No. I have rode all my life and people in cars can piss me off, of that there is no doubt.

Two things should be brought out of this. First, there is no such thing as a bad ass on a bike in traffic. Second, dial 911 if one does kick at your car.

Just a little too much ‘poor victim’ shit going on with all this. He participated in the action that caused his death.

2/17 Air Cav

I agree that we do not know what transpired between the two prior to his being killed. The problem is that even allowing that he kicked her door, he took a ramp, she followed and ran him down. If, under the same facts, she had shot him, it would be a charge of murder, too. What will be sticky is her prior bad acts which prompted two former boyfriends of hers to obtain stay-away orders naming her. It isn’t necessarily so that that info will ever make it into evidence, if there is a trial–which, in my view, there will not be. Oh, one might be begun but there will be a deal and she’ll take it.

Dave Hardin

Hmmm….I had not read any of that. It does cast a dim light on her. Nonetheless, he participated in the events that lead to his death.

I am still of the opinion if he pulled up and kicked my car chances are he would find out rather quickly he kicked on the wrong car.

Reb

Witnesses came forth that SHE started it because he went between two lanes, which is legal. No one said he kicked her car..

Reb

Bitch won’t cope a deal..its always someone else’s fault. I saw guilty of first and life, no parole…

Reb

Everything that is obtained by the FOIA will be allowed in court. I’m a San Diego Paralegal and I investigate and sit with my attorneys in court. We set up files, boards with pictures, etc….we’re not defending her. Attorney was a VN veteran…

GDContractor

“First, there is no such thing as a bad ass on a bike in traffic.”

Thanks for that. I have ridden at times in the past. At one time I had a Suzuki GT550 and I survived beyond my yoot. After drooling over them for 30+ years, I bought myself a lightly used BMW R bike (R1150RT)last November. I have rarely taken it out of the barn but I look forward to letting it run this summer, out away from all the citiots. I will try to just dig the beauty and stuff… and stay out of blindspots.

2/17 Air Cav

GDC: Well, if it doesn’t work out, just wondering–what size is your flat screen and what sort of tools do you have.

GDContractor

Nice try 2/17 but I have been quite vocal and consistent about losing all my tools in that damned salt water boating accident. You’ll have to fight the kids for the flat screen, and they are mean… like their mom. The kids know about my bike but I haven’t gotten around to telling the wife about it yet.

Dave Hardin

Case of beer, a few cigars (Nubs) and she won’t hear a word from me.

3/17 Air Cav

My older brother, was a motorcycle cop. Also a Vietnam Vet. Rode cycles for ever! Retired from the cop shop. Was involved in a cycle accident. Lived six months, after the accident. Riding them, even on a good day is dangerous!

Ward Gerlach

Just about the first thing that anyone that rides learns is that you are terribly vulnerable to idiots in cars.

A Chief Petty Officer doesn’t get to be a Chief by being stupid.

Therefore, do the math.

Chiefs are not stupid. Therefore there is no living way in hell that Chief Buob would have tried conclusions with some female in a car. Therefore, this is, at least, manslaughter. Me, I’d call it murder.

Oh, for qualifications?

farmgirl with a mosin nagant

I was reading comments on a post on Reddit about this woman. Haven’t fact-checked everything (if someone wants to, feel free) but evidently this woman has an even longer and crazier history of violent threats than the restraining orders by ex-boyfriends indicates.

One of the quotes I came across: ‘She has an extensive history of rage. I live in San Diego, where this happened, and there’s a Facebook page here where there are a lot of people(mostly women) with screen shots of their conversations with Darla. She has made a lot of threats and false accusations. She even lied to a guy about being pregnant with his kid. This murderer has keyed several people’s cars even with the assistance of her mom. The Facebook page is “Darla Renee Jackson loves motorcyclists” in case anyone is interested.’

Reb

I was on the freeway and saw her zipping in and out of traffic but didn’t see the motorcycle. I did see the aftermath…when I read he was Navy, we placed flowers at the scene yesterday.
All that shaking and no tears in court..BITCH

Reb

She’s a nut case..via court information on prior restraining orders she threatened to run a ex boyfriends ass with her car. Mental? WORKED HER WAY UP TO MURDER IN THE FIRST…

Hondo

Reb: if you’re positive you saw her driving like an idiot prior to the incident, please contact local LE and offer to give a statement. If this goes to trial, your testimony might be useful to the prosecutor if he/she seeks to establish a pattern of disregard for traffic law/safety of others on the day of the incident.

Old Trooper

It sounds, from the people that know her, that she’s one of those that think they can do whatever they want without consequences. 4 restraining orders??? Attempting to run over an ex-boyfriend? A former friend saying she’s been a menace to the whole community? Yeah, she reminds me of a former neighbor that had the same attitude. She was a fricken nightmare and thought she was the only one that matters in the world and her actions are always justified.
