Friday morning feel good stories
Our first stop on our tour of American towns that are marginally safer this morning is Pennsylvania where criminals are having trouble picking out prospective victims;
Police say after work, the officer was walking his dog when the suspect approached the officer from behind. The officer then drew his weapon when he saw the suspect was armed and both exchanged gunfire. The officer fired eight times.
“It would appear the assailant took him for a victim,” says Philadelphia police captain Anthony Ginaldi. “He was pretty much surprised when he found out he was going to rob an off-duty police officer.”
The suspect took cover behind a car during the exchange, then fled the scene, police say.
The officer was not struck during the incident and it is unknown at this time if the suspect was struck.
The next stop is Missouri, where it’s getting tougher to find good victims, even in convenience stores;
Police say one of the two male suspects displayed a firearm and announced a robbery. The victim removed cash from the drawer and the suspects took the drawer and attempted to flee out of the store. As the two men were leaving, the victim retrieved a firearm and began shooting. The victim continued until outside the store, where he and the suspect exchanged fire. The man fled towards Park Lane and the other suspect went towards West Florissant until out of sight.
Police found the suspect who had exchanged gunfire suffering from gunshot wounds to his abdomen and legs.

So are you saying the store clerk was a better shot than the off duty police officer?
The cop could use more range time, coupled with doing an IPSC match or two.
Hey, cut the Cop some slack…he was walking his dog…unless this was a K9/PoPo hound, he had a definite handicap! 🙂
ROTFLMAO. I was thinking the exact same thing.
If some guy came up on me from behind, my 3 dogs would tear him apart. Even though two of them are little, he would be missing his Achilles tendons at the very least.
The cop needs to train his dog in addition to more range time.
