Clarence “Butch” Belangia & Kill Devil Hills, NC; Part II
The other day we talked about Kill Devil Hills’ own Clarence Belangia. While we said that he had never served, some of the residents of that North Carolina town defended him. Their excuses ranged from “so what” to “I’ve seen the DD214”. Someone who has taken it upon herself to harangue us on Facebook, she had “demanded” that we prove to her (because she’s a journalist) that Butch made these claims and then yesterday, she posted this for us to our Facebook message board, hoping we would eat our words;
Well, this is how I eat my words; Right off the bat, there’s no name on this portion of a DD214, so how does this prove anything? Next, a Combat Infantry Badge, a Parachutist Badge, the Soldiers Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal are exclusively US Army awards. Butch claimed to be a Marine.
So, someone needs to keep their story straight here. That’s also why this blog exists – not everyone can do what we do this well because we are combat veterans and we can sift through the bullshit, better than most journalists.
As I said in the last blog post, you folks can give poor Butch all of the money you can spare, but do so with your eyes wide open. I’m not criticizing you for being the charitable souls that you are, so don’t start condemning me for bringing this to your attention. You know, like you did to the other veterans in your community that tried to tell you about it weeks ago. If you don’t like this new information, maybe you should be mad at Butch and not us.
Category: Phony soldiers
Well then. Never mind. Totally legit.
Oh my goodness. Reminds me of a speed bag, with her FB comment the bag and Jonn’s response the fists. Brrraaaaapppppp. Brrrraaaappp. Done. Good workout.
Evidence of LEGTTITISM:
Notation of “Combat Infantryman’s Badge”.
Everyone knows adding “man” and “‘s” is most the most compelling evidence and this subject is hereby totally LEGIT!
Just send us the Awards block.
We buy that.
Whew! I get tired just reading that list of awards!
She also posted a discharge cert from 1959. I think the French were killing commies in VN then, not the Marines.
Oh, and she’s waiting for a reply…
An Arcom is not an exclusive Army award. I was Navy and got an Arcom, AAM, and CAB while in Iraq. I was part of a MTT team that was 95% Army and they did not know how to write up a CAR so they wrote us all up for Army awards. The CAB was converted to a CAR. I would have rather of had a CMB. When I went to Afghanistan two years later I got a Joint Comm and Joint Achievement. I never got a NAM or Navy Comm.
Seriously high speed dude, right there. 5 Bronze Stars w/v-device??? 4 Bronze Stars!? Dude was all that and a bag of chips. Too bad they don’t give CIBs to Marines (and yeah, Combat Infantryman’s Badge is a definite non-starter).
I really hate civilians jumping our shit trying to tell us how it all works. Fuck you.
With all that stuff he should have a chow hall named after him somewhere. What a shame NPRC has never heard of him.
I thinks I ate at that chow hall.
I got the hershey squirts from the low quality food
Yep, nothing like the bubble guts when deployed.
I’m wondering what stud that DD-214 belongs to. I can guarantee it isn’t a former Marine living in NC.
Butch must’ve been one of those who were assigned to the fabled McNamara-era experiment known as the “Joint Combined MarinArmy Force”, whereby the OSD whiz kids under McNamara combined the Army and Marines together into one service so as to save money and double the capability. They were known as “Soldierines” and the Soldierine infantry had the MOS “0311 Bravo”, and all the Soldierines who served in Nam received the CIB with the Soldierine CAR attachment. So yup, this dude is LEGIT !!!
I don’t see an Apollo Mission Door Gunner’s Badge, let alone a SSDG Badge, thus I STILL HAVE DOUBTS!!
I almost despise “liberal journalists” who will defend their views till they are blue in the face (against overwhelming evidence to the contrary) more than posers.
Total BS. Double entry on the Bronze Star Medal. Unit awards mixed with individual awards. MSM, Soldier’s Medal? Madness. The personal clerk was on PCP!
It must be excruiciatingly painful to realize that the nice, charitable, sweet, warmhearted folks in Kill Devil Hills, NC, were taken for an expensive, all expenses paid, long and embarrassing ride by good ol’ Butch Belangia.
See, this is why Bernia Madoff always had that grin plastered on his face. He knew exactly what he was doing and he didn’t give a shit who got hurt.
Butchy-boy is his cloned twin.
For the peeps in Kill Devil Hills, you should stick to rescuing dogs and cats and stray sea otters. It’s a lot more rewarding and they don’t stay at the Travelodge.
I know you meant well, but you do look like a pack of damned fools right now, especially that broad who puffs herself off as a reporter. She ain’t.
Is it just me or does anyone else think when they read Butch’s name….. “Beluga” as in whale ??
/probably just me.
I now know, the dumbest bitch in Kill Devil Hills, NC. The “press member”, Rebecca Wilson who posted that crap on Facebook. Get a clue you fucktard. Journalists, even for travel, sales ads and local bullshit magazines are suppose to be the first ones to know how to research a story. You must have given a shitload of money to this ass hole and/or you wrote the heart warming piece that misled everyone else in town to give up their money. Either way, it’s just too easy to interview this liar and get the info you need from him to file a Freedom Of Information Act request to see his real records. By the way honey, he doesn’t have any. The bet is on that the National Personnel Records Center will reply with a form basically saying, “Who?”
She was probably expecting a Pulitzer from her big homeless vet story.
Sparks…….you must stop being so “Folksie” and say it like it is. Be hard and stop pulling your punches! Smile
Nothing like low information jounalists to make Jonn’s life harder. *sigh*
The Albermarle Tradewinds Magazine. Yep, that’s a world reknown publication by golly. Jonn should be shaking in his flip-flops by now – he’s fixing to be famous. Maybe they’ll do a writeup of him and put it right next to an article on pruning your roses.
BTW, the February edition had 24 pages, primarily advertisements, but they did have a word find puzzle in it. Here’s a word to find – BULLSHIT.
That is all.
Could that awards summary be any more bogus? How the hell did he rate an air medal and a CIB?
I wonder how many deeds to the Brooklyn Bridge I could sell in Kill Devil Hills?
Byrdman, The CIB and an Air Medal can go together like peas and carrots. Here’s a small history lesson:
Being assigned to the “Blues” Platoons of Air Cavalry Troops.
Being an 11B who came out of the bush and was turned into a door gunner in a Assault Helicopter Company. Our own 3/17 Air Cav is a good example of that.
Don’t take my information as berating you in some fashion. I’m simply pointing out that CIB’s and Air Medals can go together under the right circumstances.
Fair enough.
My experience is entirely USMC based, where it would be extremely unlikely for a career 0311 to receive an Air Medal.
He had me at ‘continutation’
