I changed my mind on the voting, and we will do the Shitbag Sixteen on Monday, and the Excremental Eight on Tuesday. Then the Fecal Four the following week. That gives me more of a chance to write up new bios, because some of these guys (Bernath) are loobying their asses off.
Anyway, the Kleyla/Mullen race was dead tied when I went to do the results (at like 197 each). I ended up having the guy doing the graphics vote.

But Stern advanced? Stern is a turd, no doubt, but I thought he paled in comparison to some. But that “Wickre” reputation 0r stain, if you will, counts for something I guess.

Lieutenant Dieter Dengler payed dearly for that medal. He was tortured for FIVE months before leading the escape on 30 June 1966 and saving the lives of several of his fellow prisoners. Not really. He just decided to spend $40 and get a NQA “replacement certificate” service to produce him a pair of “documents” that look reasonably good. There are any number of such services out there on the Internet. Before, he was just too cheap to do that – as well as too foolish to realize that there are plenty of people who actually know what “right looks like”.
But I will admit it kinda surprised me to find out that he sent those original jacked-up “self-produced documents” he sent Jonn to the BCNR. The various boards for correction of military records do indeed have experts who know what “right looks like”. It takes a special kind of chutzpah – as well as a special kind of stupid – to send crap like that to the BCNR.
In the lower left corner of each of the new certificates is a string of characters that, to me, reads like a modern computer filename, nothing like would have been in use in 1969. Or am I off base?
Could be. Unfortunately, this “replacement certificate” provider doen’t seem to make a copy of their full certificate available. They probably know people would just capture an image and use it to photoshop fake stuff.

It does seem to have the Navy seal on it, though – which is NOT PRESENT on images of known legitimate USMC PH certs from mid-1969 I’ve seen. So I’m thinking I know where at least the Navy seal part of Frankie-boi “self-produced” Visonti’s latest certs same from.
There are also at least six other discrepancies between Visconti’s latest round of “documents” when they’re compared to images of known-legit originals of the era. Suffice it to say I’ll need to see a copy of valid orders – which can be cross-checked against official records for validity, by the way – before I’ll believe the stuff Visconti’s “friend” has miraculously “found” recently could possibly be anything other than a fake.
However: no valid orders and I’m not buying it. And I suspect that neither will the BCNR. Recent decisions indicate that the analogous Army board quit accepting award certificates without accompanying orders as documentation for awards a few years ago precisely because of the number of 3rd-party houses out there producing false documents that appeared legit to the naive. Policy today seems to be no orders, no correction.
