Just More “Joe Being Joe”
The Vice President gave a speech recently. He talked about the deadly 2011 tornado in Joplin, MO.
But he made a small error during his remarks.
The Vice President talked about the “161,000 brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, grandparents lost” in that natural disaster. The actual death toll was 161.
For comparison, the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923 – after which parts of Tokyo burned for two days – had a death toll of approximately 142,000.
Given the speaker, I think we can blame this one on cluelessness vice mendacity.
But that’s OK, he’s in good company. At one time, his boss apparently thought there were 58 states (and he’d visited 57 of them!). And their “patron saint”, Jimmy the Clueless, claims he could have beaten Reagan in 1980 if he’d been “more manly”. (smile)

And yet the media crucified Dan Quayle for the smallest things including the spelling bee incident where he was just reading the word as it was printed on the card. Although I gave up reading the comic “Doonesbury” a long time ago, I doubt they have done any series on good ‘ol Joe.
It still comes in my newspaper. Right now it is in reruns. No, there never was a series on Joe, or Nancy, or Al, either Gore or Sharpton.
Gary Trudeau, the author, retired a coupla years back (again) so they will continue to run repeats. Until he decides to unretired (again.) He’s a hard one to figure out – I loathed his politics but several years back he pulled his head out and started supporting wounded vets heavily. Still hate most of his politics but can’t totally hate a guy who at least displays one aspect of sense.
I posted the following comment on another political site about Al (the not so sharp) Sharpton. I think that Joe Biden undoubtedly can wear the same crown.
“Dumb as a stick……only because I don’t want to insult “a box of rocks!”
Even if you divide biden’s numbers by obama’s 57 states, it’s still way out of line.
Frick and Frack, dim-witted frauds held in high esteem by the mainstream media, marxists, socialists, communists and islamic terrorists world-wide.
Maybe all of those chemicals from Dow have finally taken their toll in Old Joe. But, at this point in the administration, what difference does it make? Maybe Obama sends him out on these missions so that those calling for impeachment would have to consider dealing with President Biden.
This reminds me of the black Congressman, years ago, whom I can’t remember now, who said on the floor of the House that, “The migration patterns of sharks in the oceans between Africa and America had been altered and were to this day because of the number of slaves thrown overboard by slave ships”. (Obviously my paraphrase). Oh course, everyone and their brother, including high school kids, laughed at that ignorant comment and called bogus all over him. Similar dimwit, same party, different time. A common thread among them. make it up and if it sounds good, why fact check. Just go with the shock value. Clowns.
I thought that you were going to mention the genius questioning the senior military (can’t recall if it was a Navy Admiral or Marine Corps General) about Marines relocating from Okinawa to Guam, and the additional 6000 or 7000 troops would cause the island to tip over. If I was that officer, I would have stopped him right there and asked “Are you the most intelligent person in your district? It would be hard to believe that they are any citizens dumber than you. And I mean that with “all due respect”, Congressman.”
And this guy gets to vote on legislation.

Congressman Hank Johnson (D-GA) and Admiral Robert Willard, Commander, U.S. Pacific Command
Johnson: This is a[n] island that at its widest level is what … twelve miles from shore to shore? And at its smallest level … uh, smallest location … it’s seven miles between one shore and the other? Is that correct?
Willard: I don’t have the exact dimensions, but to your point, sir, I think Guam is a small island.
Johnson: Very small island, about twenty-four miles, if I recall, long, twenty-four miles long, about seven miles wide at the least widest place on the island and about twelve miles wide on the widest part of the island, and I don’t know how many square miles that is. Do you happen to know?
Willard: I don’t have that figure with me, sir, I can certainly supply it to you if you like.
Johnson: Yeah, my fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize.
Willard: We don’t anticipate that … the Guam population I think currently about 175,000 and again with 8,000 Marines and their families it’s an addition of about 25,000 more into the population.
How he kept a straight face and refrained from asking if the Congressman’s parents had any kids that lived is beyond me.
Kind of like when Quentin Tarantino tries to make a “historical” movie. He claimed that all the twisted shit in “Django Unchained” was 100% accurate. Except that every historian whoever studied slavery in America agrees that while boxing and wrestling matches between slave contenders were common, “mandingo” deathmatches never happened. And that black folks, including slaves, rode horses all the time. And that mining companies found slaves to be too expensive for such hazardous work and used cheaper white immigrant labor instead. And that 1860 Henry rifles weren’t even a pipe dream in 1857. And…okay, I need to take a break.
The point is, liberal Hollyweird and liberal politicians feed off eachother’s bullshit. And then cite eachother’s bullshit as fact. And perpetuate the cycle of bullshit.
Folks, with things like this you have to just say “That’s just Joe.” It helps a lot.
*sigh*…Good old unca’ Joe.
Like that old drunk Aunt/Uncle in every family….just please pass out already?
