Jim Foley; the phony Marine politician
Earlier this month, we talked a bit about James Lucian Foley who was running for the State Senate in New Hampshire until someone started asking questions about the way he pretended to be a Major in the Marine Corps like in the photo above. Well, Hondo got his FOIA. Foley spent a year in the Reserves before he went off to OCS where he spent less than two months and then left the Reserves;
Luckily, he dropped out of the political race unlike other phonies we’ve caught, but if we’ve learned anything, they find it real hard to stop telling lies. So, here are his records for posterity.

Is that an SAS badge above his right breast pocket????? He might be in more trouble than he thinks!
Oddly enough, it looks like the Halo ODST badge…
Yeah, it’s an SAS beret device. This maggot had better not walk around Hereford if he ever visits Tea/Crumpet Isles, or he’s fixing to get an ass-beating he won’t soon recover from.
A beating from one of THEM in the vicinity of Hereford would still be possible, but alas not likely.
THEY have left Hereford, and Stickies is no more.
The World truly is a darker place than it once was. 😉
I love the mustache.
The Marine standard I am sure.
Very Jerry Vroomboutish.
He has a Magnum PI vibe going for him with that porn ‘stache.
Nope. He’s a TURD.
Very popular in the gay bars in the 80’s. The whole Tom Selleck thing.
Dank TankBoy, we post almost the same comment within a minute of each other. We must still be mentally synced up after 24 years.
That should read Dang, not Dank. And for the rest of you guys, TankBoy and I were both at 1st Tracks Delta Company back in 1985.
The mustache is the Marine standard for pigs balls. This Poser deserves a severe boot embedded deep up his ass.
He left after only a month of training?
He couldn’t hack USMC officers training. Nice.
Actually, Steadfast – it was a bit more than that.
http://www.examiner.com/article/jim-foley-s-theft-lies-forgery-disbarment-and-less-than-honorable-discharge
Originals referenced in that article may no longer be available for download, but I managed to snag a copy before they disappeared. The article accurately describes what the documents related.
But he got out as a 2LT, not as a candy-date? So he completed OCS??
The FOIA does appear to indicate completion, rgr1480. If the course he was required to attend was 8 weeks or less, he’d have had enough time to do that.
He appears to have been discharged immediately after OCS, though.
If i recall correctly USMC officers training is in two parts.
There were a couple of cadets in my ROTC that did it for “fun”. They weren’t on scholorship yet and didn’t selected for Army schools so they volunteered for this “summer camp”.
But that was in the 90s.
This link says much the same, Steadfast. It lists several different possible options:
http://www.usmcofficer.com/officer-candidate-school/
However, lengths of schools listed there are (presumably) current vice late-1980s lengths. Lengths may have changed since then.
Moreover, this guy was (I believe) already a lawyer and was going for an appointment as a USMC JAG based on the article I linked above and the other docs I’ve seen about the man. That may have resulted in a different OCS variant.
Bottom line: based on his FOIA, I think he got credit for OCS. And I think they caught him and pitched him for trying to pull a fast one almost immediately thereafter.
Jag or not, all do OCS and TBS. The only way to avoid OCS is go to the Boat School. True ladies and Gentlemen get a bye. Something I’ve never agreed with. They do, however, join their less refined peers at TBS. There is a variant of OCS, however, in which you do PLC 1 and 2, 2 six week increments over two summers.
He didn’t make it to USMC officers training, I believe he washed out at OCS which is the purpose of the school. Surprised his package was approved to attend OCS even as an attorney.
The obvious Occam’s razor style solution to this apparent conundrum is that the FOIA doesn’t tell you about all the stuff Foley really did because his records were sealed.
I know beards and face armor are all the rage lately but he needs to stand closer to Occum’s razor.
That ‘stache is pathetic.
He quit campaigning the weekend before the election. He still came in second in a three way race.
I weep for this nation when shit like that happens.
Could someone please tell this nymphette to get rid of the rat on his face?
Look, guys: either grow a serious ‘stache, or don’t do it at all. There is no half-way on it.
Just sayin’.
“There is do, or do not. There is no try.”
Does anyone in the USMC ever grow a stache? I don’t even know of any FORMER Marines with facial hair.
And I don’t believe their (now) Raiders wear facial hair in-country, like our SOF guys do.
The MARSOC (now Raiders) guys do grow their facial hair out, at least they did in 2012.
My neighbor when I lived on Pendleton was MARSOC EOD. 3 months before he went to Afghanistan he was told to stop shaving and stop getting haircuts.
I did when I was in Kandahar the last time for work. Once I realized that I look more like Santa Claus than Clint Eastwood, I went back to shaving.
Keep him on file. As you are well aware, asshats like this go dormant, only to pop up again later.
We don’t go dormant. We need time to hone our killin’ skills, deploy on secret missions that we talk about on facebook, or train foreign forces that clearly need training from wash outs from the US military basic training pipeline.
Or, in my case, we might just be out getting more sprinkled donuts.
sincerely
John “Faker 6” Giduck
The Corps allows Stasches as long they are kept in regulation. Neatly trimmed and not below or beyond the corners of the lips. Also must be on your I. D. picture. Joe
