Army private arrested for smuggling illegals

| September 18, 2014

Eric a. Rodriguez

Army ammunition specialist with the 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Eric Alexander Rodriguez, was arrested when border agents found two illegal aliens stashed away on the floor boards of Rodriguez’ truck, covered with a military jacket with Rodriguez’ name tags.

Rodriguez is accused of hiding two undocumented immigrants in his pickup truck on Thursday as he crossed into the United States at the Sarita, Texas, checkpoint, about 180 miles south of San Antonio.

[…]

Rodriguez was wearing his military uniform during the incident, the complaint said.

Prosecutors said one of the immigrants told authorities he paid $3,000 to be smuggled into the United States and Rodriguez was the driver who picked them up and transported them farther north.

Rodriguez is looking at a possible sentence of 10 years. Heck of a way to start your military career, isn’t it?

Army height and weight standards apply in disciplinary barracks?

Ex-344MP

The Regs were enforced at the Ft. Sill Corrections facility when I was there in the 90’s, don’t know about now though.

I went to Great Mistakes for boot camp. 14 Division. Right next to the Brig. My company was composed of such fuck ups that they probably put us next to it so we wouldn’t have far to march to our new home.

Anyway, I swear that every single time we marched past the brig, morning, noon, or night the poor bastards were PT’ing. Every single time.

Ole Pvt Rodriguez will be quite svelte when he gets out. You always have to look for the positive in any situation!

Two tiered system, isn’t it?

obama, DHS and Border Patrol allow illegal entry to the US hourly, every day, even allowing murderers and rapists to cross the border……………No one is prosecuted !!!

This poor sap just brought two across and he’s facing 10 years in prison.

He should have joined the border patrol, he would have been promoted.

Supplementing your income with human trafficking is not the most effective method of raising your standard of living.

At least he’s only an E-2 so he won’t be busted down too far when they lock his ass up for the next half decade or so…

First, I am sick of the bullshit PC moniker “undocumented alien.” They’re illegal aliens, period. It’s gotten so bad that even conservative news outlets are using that chicken shit term. Enough already. Second, how many times do you think this turd has done this same thing? I’m betting it wasn’t his first time around. And lastly, WTF, over?

Don’t you mean undocumented democrat?

A Proud Infidel®™

An Illegal Alien is an “Undocumented Immigrant” like a dope dealer is an “Unlicensed Recreational Pharmacist”!

Hack Stone

I prefer the term “owner/operator of an independent pharmaceutical distribution franchise”. And it is no longer rape, it is “preconsensual sexual intercourse”.

Flagwaver

They’re illegal immigrants. Aliens would have enough sense to use the bureaucracy.

EODJay

Sorry, I meant “undocumented immigrant.” I’m still on my first cup of coffee.

Eric

Actually they use Undocumented Worker a lot too.

For how few of them actually work they should really retire the term…

Once he gets out he’ll start telling everyone how he was a Delta Force SEAL and the reason they haven’t seen him in so long was because he was over in Syria killing bad guys.

That whole “Was sent to prison” was just a cover for his super seekret squirl mission.

“Times are though in the Army, we don’t get combat pay anymore, gas is 5 pesos … Ah … I meant to say 5 bucks a gallon and they are my cousins … Well … distant cousins”, he said during booking.

Eric

This is really a crime these days? Wow.

Maybe he should’ve said “Asylum!” when he got stopped, then he’d get a phone call from Barry himself saying how Brave he is…

Given the lack of Federal enforcement and the daily release (not deportation) of illegals charged with committing crimes in the US, I don’t know how this guy can be prosecuted, at least with a straight face. Hell, Border Patrol is now transporting the illegals to Army posts for housing, meals, medical care, and, no doubt, processing them into the welfare system. I guess that $3000 fee got him. Otherwise, he would have received the humanitarian of the year award or something.

David

what’s that work out to, $300 a year? Man, we are recruiting some dumb MFers…

Hawk

And here I thought the regs were supposed to be getting tightened to prevent enlisting window-lickers.

OWB

Seriously? He’s being prosecuted why exactly?

I just don’t get it. Maybe they have proof that he voted for Bush or something equally unforgivable.

Not that I condone human trafficking in any form, but what criteria are they using to decide which traffickers to punish while rewarding others? Maybe it’s just a math thing – every 150th trafficker encountered is prosecuted?

Pull a Stan McChrystal…Mr. President, I voted for you card.
