Peter Theo Curtis released by al Qaeda

Peter Theo Curtis

Fox News reports that journalist Peter Theo Curtis who has been held by the al Qaeda group, Jabhat Al-Nusrah, was released yesterday after two years of captivity.

[T]he Curtis family said the government of Qatar was involved in the release, which was carried out on a humanitarian basis without ransom.

The family believes the 45-year-old Curtis was captured shortly after he crossed into Syria in October 2012.

What prompted Curtis’ release is unclear. However, the United Nations said it helped with the handover to U.N. peacekeepers in a village in the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights and that Curtis was released to American authorities after a medical checkup.

The al Qaeda folks are disassociating themselves from the ISIS/ISIL/Islamic State folks because of the ISIS habit of killing anyone who isn’t them. I’m thinking that the barbaric murder of James Foley last week probably prompted them to release Curtis. The international outrage probably influeced them, too. It’s kind of like when IVAW decided that they didn’t want to be flag burners and booted Matthis Chiroux. Even extremists have their limits.

Nope. I don’t believe it. Somebody paid.

This has another Hussein administration back door influence like the numerous other scandals. I’m sure years later we will finally get the truth long after. Still waiting on fast and furious, IRS, NSA, and plenty of others. If there is one thing Americans can count on is this administration’s coverups and how they eventually are brought to light.

FatCircles0311…I’m with you. I don’t believe these guys give anyone or anything for free. Someone in the administration will step up and take credit, all the while pointing to Obama as the mini-mind, I mean, master mind behind it all.

Doubtful. Very doubtful. A large section of the muslim world is distancing itself from the excesses of ISIl/IS because it is NOT what they are after.

Yes, they hate the Israelis and the US and the western world in general. They have to have some sort of barrier between us and them. But this wholesale slaughter by an extremist group threatens them, too. Try digging deeper.

Barnes and Noble is already trying to figure where to put all the books that will be written by members of this administration when the next prez comes along.
Fiction or Comics? Tough choice.

That one comes through Agence France Presse.

There are a few explanations other than ransom. First, the group’s main financial backers saw the outrage and did not want tot be associated with it. Second, the Qataris, seeing the outrage, were looking for a way to look good and get back in the Israel/Hamas game, and saw and opportunity. As the main financial backer, the Qataris used that leverage. Finally, this group thinks some serious bombing is about to start and is trying to avoid the crosshairs.
