Lessons of recent history

| November 3, 2008

Slublog at Ace of Spades reminds us of what the polling looked like four years ago;

Zogby’s call? Kerry, 311; Bush, 213.

The electoral vote call made by one of those aggregating sites?
Electoral Vote (based on composite polls) – Kerry 298, Bush 231

And the exit polling? Remember that two years after the election, RFK, Jr. in of all places, Rolling Stone Magazine, told us the 2004 election was stolen because “the experts” said exit polling is more accurate than the actual vote?

We get inundated with useless polling data even after election and, so all of this blather means nothing. Just go and vote. The last election, I drove straight to the airport and left the country to wait out the vote counting. This time I’m going to stick around to protect my stuff – and I may just drive to several polling places and screw up the exit polls. I can’t vote twice, but I can sure exit-poll twice…or twenty times.

Sigh… I’m going to hide out until it’s all over; I’m a wreck, and refuse to watch it unfold. As for messing with exit polls, I get what you’re saying… but I’m always nervous about discouraging any possible helpful voters by giving them a false impression of our side losing…

PS that previous post was me- I’m pretty tired and filled in your post info too fast.

But tired as I am, at least I know Ohio from Florida.
