Friday morning feel good story

| April 18, 2014

This morning’s feel good story comes from Detroit where a family playing video games in their basement when they heard a ruckus upstairs and went to investigate;

Family members, who were playing video games in the basement, heard a ruckus upstairs, prompting shots to be fired and the suspects to flee. The homeowner shot at the suspects who returned fire, Woody said.

The two suspects ran away while a third suspect, a getaway driver, was shot inside a vehicle, Woody said.

“He put it in reverse and went across the median into the home across the street,” he said.

The driver was found dead by neighbors. Police didn’t have an immediate cause of death.

Unfortunately, the driver’s last act was to crash into a house which sent that resident to the hospital. But everyone who wasn’t in the area to commit a crime will recover. It’s good to see the good folks of Detroit fight back against criminals, with the full backing of the police for a change.

1 down 2 to go.

Detroit is scummy as shit. There is a reason why people are in the basement in that city and that’s sad.

Yeah, being perpetually governed by liberals sure does wonders for people and places, doesn’t it?

Sounds like a clear case of lead poisoning.

Well, maybe this is a start to cleaning that place up? One of two things will happen; either the criminals will get the hint and quit breaking into homes, or they will be reduced to the point of insignificant through attrition.

All I know is the top cop in Detroit is all for people being able to defend themselves from the scum and that’s a good thing.

Look at it another way. By telling the citizens of Detroit that he backs the private use of deadly force, he’s also told them that his police force is ineffective and that they’re on their own.

Glad to read that the home owner and family is safe and I wish a speedy recovery to the injured neighbor.

Mr. Lebben: I don’t see it the same way. In my opinion Detroit’s police chief is saying that he doesn’t have the resources to put a cop on every block. If citizens do their part, deterrence and common sense will break out.

Allowing for their budget issues, I think that the Detroit police force is as effective as comparable police forces. But cops cannot be everywhere.

Suppose this approach to community safety works for Detroit. Suppose it was adopted by police and prosecutors in other major cities. I think that would that be good.

FWIW, I live in Michigan, but not near Detroit. I welcome the change and I am willing to give the Detroit Police Chief time and room to change the culture. Take that Bloomberg!

The Police Chief is merely acknowledging the fact that when seconds count, the police are minutes away.

Our lives are a gift from God and, therefore, war worthy of protection.

The problem is that the police are still seeing whether or not the shooter will be charged. Apparently, because he didn’t retreat, he may be liable for the death of the scumbag, the damage to the house the scumbag hit, and the woman who was injured. You know, because the scumbag was such an upstanding citizen and all.

“Police didn’t have an immediate cause of death.” I’d guess and I’m just winging it here, the big fucking hole in his head was the cause of death. But that’s just my non witness opinion.
