All Hail the Economic “Recovery”
The current Administration keeps telling us that the economy is recovering, or has recovered. So it must be true.
Even if for only the second year in our history more people are receiving SNAP (formerly food stamps) than there are women working full-time today. Data covers 1969-2012, as the Census Bureau’s report for 2013 containing the applicable data isn’t due out until September.
The linked article has a graphic comparing the number of women working full-time vs the number of people receiving food stamps/SNAP. Even during the Carter-era economic doldrums (1975-1981), the number of women working full-time appears to have equaled or exceeded the number of people receiving food stamps. As the linked article notes (emphasis added):
So far, 2011 and 2012 are the only back-to-back years on record when the number of Americans taking food stamps outnumbered the women working full-time year-round.
But remember – under our current Administration, the economic recovery continues! “Happy days are here again!”
Yeah, right. If we had competent leadership that knew a damn thing about business and economics, we’d have had a real recovery by now.

More people on the dole means more citizens the government can control. Of course this administration counts that as a win.
The economy is recovering! Hooray!
Everybody is facing pay cuts, retirements are being gutted, the buying power of the money we do have gets weaker by the day, and more and more people are going on Welfare, but the economy is recovering! All hail the Glorious Leader!
The Other Whitey…thank you. I’ve got a retirement 401K that says the economy is NOT doing as well as the President says.
Food Stamps…I won’t even get started. My blood pressure is pretty normal this morning and I’d like to keep that way.
Some of the recipients probably work at places like Walmart.
I’d be kinda surprised if that’s the case for many of their full-timers, Joe – if any.
You did see that we were talking full-time employment, right? The average for full-time employees of WalMart is $12.83 per hour. And thanks to that abomination commonly called “ObamaCare”, WalMart isn’t likely to hire many more full-timers any time soon.
Pretty sure $12.83 an hour – or somewhat over $27k annually – is well above the “cut line” for SNAP eligibility.
You wanna complain, call the POTUS. That’s who’s responsible for the current dearth of full-time jobs.
Remember around 2010 when the economy was still not recovering like predicted and the media and liberal talking heads started using the term “new normal” to explain it all away and provide top cover to the bullshit artist in chief??
New Normal as in, “we cannot figure out how to make the economy grow so you will just have to be satisfied with whatever bullshit we feed you”.
Obama has certainly done away with American being exceptional. He did it by ignoring his mandate and playing racial politics. And by apologizing for all the “harm” America has done in the world. Now the world sees us as a paper tiger and joke.
Our economy will be in the tank until we get rid of the current Excuse Maker in Chief and get someone in office who will at least attempt to do the peoples business. God help us if that is Hillary.
Ran into something this morning that is a slightly different way of looking at the “economic recovery.” Here’s a map of where money is leaving and which states are getting it:

Does make one wonder. The states gaining would be recovering, or at least appear to be, while those from whence all that money is lost are not, right?
Disclaimer: I got nothin’ in this website or the data. Easy enough to check the numbers since they are all supposed to be from the IRS.
