Danny Russell Crane; back to jail
Our friends at Guardian of Valor tell us that Danny Russell Crane, who we first wrote about nearly two years ago is headed back to jail after serving a one year sentence for fraud. The unofficial story is that he defrauded a local VFW post as well as some members of that post and their auxiliary. Because he had violated his probation, Federal Marshals were looking for him yesterday and they found him (on a tip) lounging in another local jail cell.
According to the news report below from Fox 13 in Tampa, after the cops transported him to the lock up, they found a quantity of cocaine in the police car that he left behind.
Danny is one that’s going to be phony until he dies. He just got out of prison recently, and it took no time at all for him end up back behind bars. I’m hearing that this time he defrauded people and the VFW out of about ten grand, but yeah, stolen valor is a victimless crime.

I’ve shared this with Mark Dolfini, the real Marine who stood for Cody, know about this. My suggestion, throw Danny a welcome home sock party when he gets out this time. :/
I’ll leave out the names and exact location, but this shitbird hurt a lot of people that are very dear to me. In addition to the actual money that he conned from people he betrayed confidences and destroyed long time friendships. These people are still trying to pick up the pieces and salvage their lives after his antics.
Stolen Valor is NOT a victimless crime.
Which is the very reason a lot of us are here.
I admit, when I first ran across this site, I was surprised at the amount of turds doing this very same thing.
What makes me really sad is that I no longer can take at face value what a person says about their service.
I have mad respect for all of you who have gone the extra mile that I couldn’t do in becoming a Ranger, Spec Ops, Marine Recon, and the other specialized training you had to go through.
Now when some one claims stuff like this, I have to do a double take. Hell most of the guys in my local VFW and American Legion posts had no idea how big an issue this is until I started educating them. They too, like most people, took people at face value.
That’s part of the problem too. There is a thing called honor all of us have who have served and the older generation hold to this because veterans have it and couldn’t possibly lie about it.
