NRA Life of Duty; US C-SOG
The NRA’s Patriot Profiles (sponsored by Smith & Wesson) sends us their latest video in their series about US Corrections – SOG and it focuses on one training officer, Senior Team Leader Joseph Garcia and the way he trains his officers;
With more than 2.3 million inmates in America’s penitentiary system today, our correctional officers are severely outnumbered and under the constant threat of attack inside and outside prison walls. US C-SOG Senior Team Leader Joseph Garcia has made it his life’s mission to train and prepare warriors and operators to deal with the most violent, enraged and often disturbed criminals in the system. A true man of character, Garcia is an operator not playing a part, but living the various roles he must perform day in and day out.

Great story and video Jonn. Thank you.
I was a beat cop and I LOVED it. But, there is not enough money in the world to make me want to be a CO. My hat’s off to them!
I am an Ex-Viet Veteran of the Australian Army, suffering from P.T.S.D, as well as back injuries from a mine blast under an M113a1. Divorced on getting home as I was no longer considered to be “Normal”
I did 30 odd jobs until I was excepted into Corrections in Sydney by a very nice man. I was going to stay for twelve months then move on. 30 years later and all my frustrations being exercised just about daily. I feel much better. I can only thank the Government, Courts, and Policemen who all contributed to my well being and job security. Oh, and most of the criminals said I was a frigen Nut and should have been locked up. I hold a 4th Dan in Karat and love the sport. The exercise the criminals gave me every so often helped heaps. Yep I lost a few (4 teeth and 61 stickers) but that is life. I feel it was better on my side of the Law then the criminals side, and that was the way I was going until I landed the job which could use my frustration and anger at the world. I rose to the rank of Security Manager at the Top Maximum Security Centre for general discipline in N.S.W. and I’d do it again to-morrow, if the fish aren’t biting.
The 14:10 mark is what COs fear the most.
“warriors and operators”? Not only is civilian law enforcement dressing themselves up as para-military units and using military equipment they are adopting the terms our soldiers use for themselves.
No-one is just a little bit uneasy about this?
