Obama restores cuts to COLA
The Associated Press reports that President Obama restored the planned cuts to future cost of living allowances for widows, retirees and disabled veterans yesterday when bills were flown to California for his signature, you know because he was on a golf weekend there.
Separate legislation passed in December would have held annual cost-of-living increases for veterans age 62 and younger to 1 percentage point below the rate of inflation, beginning in 2015. The measure was designed to hold the line on the soaring cost of government benefit programs, which have largely escaped trillions of dollars in deficit cuts over the past three years.
The cuts were enacted less than two months ago, with a projected savings to the government of $7 billion over a decade. Veterans groups and some lawmakers said the cut was a mistake, and they began campaigning to have the benefits restored.
While it’s good that thy restored the reduction before it could affect anyone, the Congress and the president shouldn’t have done it in the first place. It just demonstrates that the politicians are more than willing to make the easy decisions to screw troops and take the politically expedient route rather than make the difficult choices which might endanger their own pay checks.
It was the Veterans’ Service Organizations that got this issue the press that it deserved and, consequently, forced the change. The MOAA, The American Legion and the VFW have been very vocal about it in the past several weeks.

I’m thoroughly convinced that it was all a PR scam from the get-go. B. Hussein 0bama & Company wanted anothre bucket of mud to throw at the GOP later this year, so they cooked that up and WATCH!! They’ll throw it at republicans as soon as the election gets near!! B. Hussein 0bama is nothing other than a flashy campaigner, all style and NO substance (BUT WHAT ELSE IS NEW?), AND HE’S ALL ABOUT PLOTTING MEDIA SMEARS AGAINST HIM AND HIS PARTY’S OPPONENTS.

After seeing this and the Pres lecturing about the American Income Gap, they once again have the audacity to cut, not the welfare and illegal alien freebies, but cut from those who EARNED their benefits. And cut them off at the knees…again!!!
I tell ya there is no word in the White House dictionaries called “SHAME”. It has been cut out, scratched out and redacted from all thoughts and feelings. As proud as I am of our veterans, retirees and their widows I am as far on the other end of the spectrum in being ASHAMED of this nation’s Administration. I would have said this nation’s leadership…but there is none.
“Obama” restores the cuts, like he did it all on his own? He has to sign the papers to allow it to happen in the first place. Does their hypocrisy know no bounds ?
What a hero he is! I ‘m impressed.
I’m glad my Senator (Ayotte) stepped up and put forth the amendments to restore the cuts, even if Reid played the nuclear option in getting her plan rejected, and she had no help from the so-called “GOP leadership” which even voted to make the cuts in the first place.
Just goes to show, neither party really has veteran’s interests at heart when it comes down to that or reelection.
Those who did the leg work know who they are. Just hope Ryan and Co. do not take too much credit for the over ride of the mess they created in the first place.
