Matthew Alexander Courtney; phony medic stories

Scotty sends his research on Matthew Alexander Courtney who did serve as a medic in Germany and at Fort Bragg, NC. He tells wild-ass tales of treating enemy soldiers who tried to strangle him, so Courtney stabbed the shit out of him with a scalpel until it broke. He tells that he watched a baby die in Uganda, but that he wasn’t trained properly to save the child’s life. He also watched a US soldier die in Afghanistan and it was his lack of training that caused that death, too. Of course, he caught the PTSD from those experiences. The problem is that he never went to Afghanistan or Uganda;

So, if that’s not enough proof for you, here’s his DD214 which shows no Combat Medical Badge or service medals for Afghanistan;

I’m sure he’ll say that these are stories that he heard from his fellow medics, and they’re true, so that should mitigate his truthlessness, fake but true.
By the way, Scotty is under attack by Larry Schlesinger, so send him some link-clicky love.

Blog not found? Is the turd nugget Larry Schlesinger responsible?
You know, I dont even know where to begin with this jackass that went “full ‘tard poser”…as a retired Senior Medical NCO, my first reaction is to want to place my size 12 1/2 desert boot in his bung hole sideways.
Having actually lost a GOOD medic in Iraq, I want to slap the stupid out of this bag of shit for pissing on what appears to be an otherwise honorable tour of service, and a distinguished career field.
Medics have a hard enough job, without this wasted DNA underwear stain making up bullshit stories and casting the rest of us in a poor light.
Courtney, you are not worthy to carry the litters of the brave men and women that sacrificed so much.
lol, his last assignment was at the 30th AG? HAHAHAHA. I guess dealing with newbies just off the street getting their vaccinations was just like combat, right? Think maybe he’s just mashing up and retelling the war stories he heard from the Infantry Drills? I get nightmares every night thinking about going down that giant ramp into the basement of the 30th AG to get my initial issue. And the smell…..god mothballs make me want to gag now.
For those not in the know, the 30th AG is the reception battalion on Sand Hill where everyone arriving on Benning for OSUT in processes. To this day 20 years on, I can still remember the smell of that building and how cold it was inside there because I swear to God they had the AC cranked all the way up.
I guess he wasn’t a complete turd, he had his EFMB….so yea, there’s that.
ok, well I feel stupid, I guess I read his assignments backwards. derp.
Matthew Courtney’s own words ” I will never forgive myself for being a coward and I am ashamed that I asked to go back to Germany.”
Well, glad you were ashamed of something (tongue in cheek). Coward? You didn’t have to be, you served a good tour and went where the Army deemed you were needed. Nothing to be ashamed of. We need folks all over the world. But in all this Matthew, you kinda make yourself one. A coward that is, by claiming stupid crap like this. Now you have sullied an otherwise good, clean record. My advice…stop right now mu young troop, while you are miles ahead of where you could be on this road of phony deeds and unearned valor.
He sounds A LOT like a POS embellisher we had in my platoon when we were in A1stan!
*AAARRRRGH!!* that’s A-stan!!
He looks A LOT like the 0bamacare ad boy, doesn’y he?
OKAY, ENOUGH staying up and posting after being on night shift, time for me to go to bed!!
He needs to pull his head out ouf his fourth point of contact ! Airborne Medic wasn’t good enough WTF Beat ya Boots Shitbag !
This dude is a shame to all the honorable medics out there. As a Platoon Sergeant in Iraq I had an awsome medic that was pretty much attached to my hip. That guy would run through machine gun fire to get to the wounded. I used to joke with him that it was his brass balls were the reason that I went with him.
uggggh, “that was the reason”. Staff duty is already getting to me.
To be fair, not every medic who deploys earns a CMB.
Honestly, by regulation, it’s the most difficult combat badge to get.
CAB, you just need to be in the vicinity of being shot at.
CIB, you need to be shot at, and then react to contact (return fire, take cover, maneuver the vehicle, etc).
CMB, you must be a medic (or 18D) assigned to a infantry BCT (or a flight medic), you must be shot at, someone must be hit, and you must treat that wound while still being shot at. That’s not to say that everyone rocking a CMB these days has completed all those criteria. Just saying that it’s not a 100% accurate indicator of combat.
Medic & Corpsman Posers are next in line behind Special Forces / SEAL / Recon posers. They either want to be hero’s. Or claim to be saving hero’s.

An honorable 3yr 11 month tour ended by a disability separation, ruined by post-discharge lies.
Sad. Just damned sad.
#13, doc, while I agree, you’d expect someone who wrestled with a Taliban and finally killed him with a scalpel would qualify, wouldn’t you?
Seems to me that the incident he claims with that “wounded Taliban” would also qualify as being “engaged in combat”, and would make him eligible for the ACM regardless of time spent in-country under para 2-16.d.(2) of AR 600-8-22. If it ever happened, of course.
He’d also qualify for the ACM if he spent 30 days consecutive or 60 days nonconsecutive in-country.
Either would also qualify him for the GWOTEM.
There’s no ACM or GWOTEM on his DD214. You do the math.
Pajama Boy here doesn’t look like he could wrestle his way out his Garanamal onesies.
Weird, his later opens up with he never been deployed then it goes into that wild story about deployments to AFRICOM or Afghaniland? This guy really has his head on straight.
Damn, morning time, I meant letter*, I just had to double take that twice to see if I am getting that right about him. Guy had a non descript honorable career. Nothing wrong with that, I guess he needed an ego boosting.
@13, I know a dentist who got the CMB. She was working on an Iraqi Army Soldier’s teeth when the insurgents did a drive by.
This assclown really brings my B/P up.I had the honor to serve with great Corpsman in Nam. The Grunt Corpsman were just too deciated to to their Marines. They did not suffer fools, liars or cowards. The FMF Corpsmen have a saying”once you go green, you cannot be blue again”.My Granson Lance finishes Combat Medic school at the end of this month.LaNCE’S First base and outfit. Fort Benning,75th Rangers. After writing this,I want to put a hurting on this POSer.This shithead does not having his name and Medic used in the same sentence. Rant off for now, Joe
@8, Infidel, indeed, he does look a lot like Pajama Boy.
Turd.
When I was up North, I went to use the phones one day.
On the hone next to was a young SPC spoon or wheel or such. He was telling those on the other end of the phone about all of these explosions, combat and so forth he had been in.
We had pretty much just arrived and only the IN had been through the wire and patrolling. Not this dude.
I finished my call and waited until he finished his and then lit him up. But before I did, I grabbed two SSG’s and explained the situation. They listed to some of his conversation as well.
All I will say is that young punk had a very bad day after I left him with those two.
Morale of the story: Keep it true and real.
You freaking ass clown Matthew Alexander Courtney…
You had a decent career, but now you had to ruin it with your fairytales…You have no gawd damn clue to what suffering from PTSD is like..Methinks you’ve read to many medical books….well dearie…you want to be a hero suffering from PTSD, by the time we are done with you, it just might come true..Time to Google-Foo….
You know, he could be an Obama Pajama boy! Just saying.
Again the question is asked, what’s worse? The asshole who never served who makes BS claims or the guy who had an undistinguished yet otherwise honorable service?
Personally, I come down on the side of the latter being worse, because they’ve been there, they SHOULD know better, but they just can’t stop themselves from suffering rectal-cranial inversion.
What a shame. We have the coolest job in the world; and we’re the only members of the team that get to do cool stuff even during down time or off-depolyments. Who else gets to care for his teammates the way we do, anytime, anywhere, day or night, combat or peace time? There’s no reason to falsify any of that; we already are the most privileged among an honorable group of men. And we even get to take those skills and continue them in some way as civilians. Really just too bad this kid had to put such a stain on that.
It was a lack of training on the part of the 42As who failed to record his deployments in his record
So, as a former Airborne medic I was really angry upon first reading this. I had never heard of people going TDY to a combat zone. After, doing some research apparently it does happen.
See here: http://usmilitary.about.com/library/milinfo/pay/2003perdiem/bloaf.htm
He didn’t claim to be deployed and the amount of time he said he was there adds up with a TDY assignment. Also, TDY assignments wouldn’t show up on a DD-214. This kid might not be lying.
If so, you guys said some pretty fucked up stuff about a fellow soldier.
Yeah E-5 medic is the one it’s written about. Way to try to come in and claim it’s true as a seperate person.
War in Afghanistan is almost a year old and they could only find one person to volunteer for a month or so?
Dream on E-5 medic, this story is as fake as you are. Soldiers that I to war don’t talk like you, Soldiers who wished they did do.
[…] This Ain’t Hell Blog ; http://valorguardians.com/blog/?p=39835 […]
I had the “pleasure ” of knowing this guy.. His story came out ten years later to dodge paying for some kids he had .. He claimed he was 100% disabled all of a sudden..that link to e-5 medic doesn’t prove a thing.. I can’t imagine anyone being tdy or deployed and keeping it a secret for 10yrs even from your parents .. Plus how can you have a noneventful tdy when u stabbed a Taliban soldier to death and let a soldier die? That doesn’t add up…
