Republicans were played
Remember how the Republicans in Congress went along with Democrats in Congress last month to slash disabled veterans and their survivors cost of living allowance? And then they broadcast their victory getting a budget passed by their willingness to work with Democrats. Well, Harry Reid is willing to restore the cut to COLA according to the National Journal;
Sen. Bernie Sanders, a liberal independent from Vermont and chairman of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, is pushing a broad veterans measure that would restore veterans’ pensions and expand their access to health care and educational benefits.
Sanders got a leg up Wednesday when Majority Leader Harry Reid took steps to put that legislation in line for Senate debate. And Sen. Dick Durbin, Reid’s right-hand man, said he anticipated Sanders’s bill would move to the floor soon.
Are you imagining how that’s going to play out in November during the mid-term elections. Something like this; “the Republicans cut military pensions and Democrats restored them”. Yeah, if you believe that avowed communist, Bernie Sanders cares about the troops beyond their value as a campaign slogan, you’re kidding yourself. Scads of bills have been bouncing around Congress to restore the COLA cut, but Harry Reid chooses Sander’s bill to put on the floor of the Senate. Gee, I wonder why.
So, veterans get to play the props again.

Category: Congress sucks, Veterans Issues
Like no one saw this coming. You can not trust Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Wasserman Shultz or any of them “rats”…
They do nothing that will not benefit them down the road. They know that we would hold the Republicans feet to the fire more so than them, their constituency overall does not care that Veterans and Active Duty would be getting screwed. To most of them it would be “justifiable”… So no loss at all for them to take anything away from us, but huge bonus points to them to “give it back” with the sheeple who just believe whatever the propaganda machine will spit out.
Yeah, what @1 said.
Idiots. No, not those named by rb325th. I’m referring to the morons who vote for these rascals, liars, manipulators, and pukes. So long as there remain many people who see D or R and pull the level, complete the arrow, or put their finger on the touch screen, and who obtain their information from TV and radio ads, we will continue to have the obamas, pelosis, reids, and boehners. It is infuriating and sad, at the same time.
Played or paid? *shrug* Hanlon’s Razor is all well and good, but even congresscritters are capable of only so much incompetence. After a while, one starts to wonder if it isn’t all part of the plan.
And they get away with it every fucking time…
Agree with all above posts.
It’s a scam. Dems have said from the beginning that they wanted to restore the cuts by removing loopholes.
Basically, there are loopholes that generally benefit Dems and loopholes that generally benefit Reps. Dems want to remove only the ones that benefit Reps, and then pretend they’re the ones willing to sacrifice for the troops.
These are the same liars who pretend to oppose torture, and then say nothing when the lefts’ friends torture people.
Why not put all bills up at once, weed out the crappy one, narry them down to the best 3, narrow those down to one, VOTE. KISS
Nuts, on any other wet site, I would have some ass hat make fun of my typing error (narry ‘vice’ narrow). Of course, I do not expect any such thing from the fine folks that read this blog.
See, I did it again. Wet ‘vs’ web. I am not doing this on purpose. The navy expects more out of a Yeoman (YN).
Well, OLD YEOMAN CPO – I guess we can oblige if you’d like. (smile)
Veterans are props and pawns for the political class. They’ll embrace us or throw us under the bus depending on which they think helps them retain power.
The poor helpless republicans controll the house thanks to gerrymandering as democrats got over a million more votes for congress in 2012! We will see how they vote. Last time when given the choice of cutting veterans benefits are cutting tax loop holes for their rich friends they voted for the rich and told disable veterans to get lost! We will see what happens this time.
You can’t reason with stupid, folks. Stand down.
Every one of those DC lifer idiots is living, breathing proof of why we need Congressional Term Linits! Once they’ve become part of the “DC Lifer Country Club”, they disconnect from reality and listen to no one but other lifers and lobbyists!
Chief Yeoman, you made a funny. I enjoyed it. It lowers the sting of being stung by politicians.
@9 – narry a peep out of any of us! It’s the spew from such as VWP that occasionally turns this into a wet site; in which case, the others do a phenomenal job of cleaning up the mess.
@13–look at the most gerrymandered districts in the country and get back to us when you find out who holds those seats, mkay you little fucktard?
