Saturday feel good story

Chief Tango sends us our feel good story this morning, this time from Lufkin, Texas, where a woman came back from her daily barn chores and found Cody Barnhill in her living room with her jewelry box and her gun in hand;

She had been feeding her cattle and still had the feed can in her hands, so she swung it at Barnhill. It distracted him just enough to allow her to retrieve the gun from him. She immediately began pulling it out of its holster.

Barnhill started to run away, but the homeowner shot him in the back. Despite the injury, he still managed to escape and leave the scene in a white Toyota Corolla.

Authorities searched the area for his vehicle, but were unable to find him anywhere nearby.

Around 10:30 p.m., Thursday night, police received a 9-1-1 call from a La Quinta Inn in Clute.

Upon arrival, authorities found Barnhill with a gunshot wound and several items that are believed to have been stolen from multiple locations. Several electronics were among the stolen items.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. in the 700 block of N. 46th avenue., the release said. The home’s resident told deputies that he fired his weapon at someone who was attempting to break into his garage and hit him once.

When deputies arrived, they observed the suspect fleeing the scene but were unable to apprehend him.

According to the release, Daniel Joshua Driver, 19, attempted to check himself into a hospital under a fake name. He claimed he had been stabbed somewhere off Hollywood Avenue, but the hospital’s staff determined that he had given them false information.
