Friday morning feel good story

| December 13, 2013

This morning’s feel good story comes from Memphis and it was actually last week, but we can still celebrate, can’t we?

The homeowner called 911 when he heard the glass of a back room window break. But before officers could arrive, the two suspects were already inside the home; that’s when the homeowner decided to take action.

He shot at the intruders, injuring one of them.

That suspect was later found about a block away and taken to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Authorities are still looking for the second suspect who fled the scene.

This type of incident is common in the area of Hickory Hill, says resident and neighbor Audrienne Owens, who lives only a few houses down. Owens said someone tried to break into her home through the back door in broad daylight a while ago. The homeowner, she says, acted within his rights.

“It’s your property, you should have the right to do it, cause you work hard for your things, you really do,” she told WREG.

Another female resident, who didn’t want to be identified, agreed.

“It’s not you taking the law in your hands; it’s exercising your right as a citizen,” she said. “If you’re foolish enough to put your life on the line, I’m not. I want to live.” That female resident also said her gun is always loaded and she is ready to protect herself.

Yup, I don’t have anything in my home worth dying for, but you will.
