AJ Dickens, phony SEAL on Inside Edition
Pat sends us a link to Inside Edition in which Don Shipley tells the story of AJ Dickens’ lies once again;
Although skeptical at first, [ Colorado TV producer Harry] Vested said he was certain Dicken was the real deal after he got emails apparently from none other than retired Lt. Colonel Oliver North.
“Oliver North came back and said, ‘This is fine, I verify anything that A.J. says as a national hero and I will stand by him’,” explained Vested.
Vested was even present when A.J. Dicken cut the cake at a ceremony honoring him and other veterans. Pictures Vested provided to INSIDE EDITION show Dicken wearing a hat with the Navy SEAL insignia.
But after Dicken hit Vested up for more money, Vested said he grew suspicious. So he contacted retired Navy SEAL Senior Chief Don Shipley, and that’s when Vested’s worse fears came true, Dickens claims were false.
“He’s a phony. A.J. Dicken has never served a day in the military, not one,” said Shipley.
That’s right – Navy and military records checked by Shipley and verified by INSIDE EDITION show A.J. has no military record whatsoever!
We wrote about Dickens earlier this year here and here. I guess his story fell apart when the 56-year-old began taking credit for shooting bin Laden’s face. But his stories were good enough to fool someone into hiring him to provide security in Africa – putting the lives of his employees in danger;
Dr. Romaneschi and other investors say Dicken used their money and phony military credentials to attend meetings in New York City at the United Nations building, where they claim he allegedly tried to pull off his biggest con yet.
Dicken was actually named Chief of Security on a mission to Africa.
Carol Roberts accompanied Dicken on the African adventure and said, “He’s a fraud and he’s dangerous. He’s leading us in Africa and he doesn’t know a single thing.”
Roberts says Dicken was drunk during much of the time and provided zero protection.
Inside Edition found the fugitive in an RV park in Arkansas where he was hiding out from the people who want his fat ass on the chopping block.

Just to clarify the quoted line about North from Vested. Alone, the line gives the clear impression that Colonel North was backing the clown. He wasn’t. Buried in the full article is this: “But what about those emails from Lt. Col. North? Turns out they were elaborate forgeries. Col. North told INSIDE EDITION, ‘I’ve never heard of A.J. Dicken and I hope they throw away the key when they lock him up.’”

She passed on 6 April and the service was held on 14 Aug. I could have had it about 2 weeks earlier but my old Army bud was given a burial date of 13 Aug so we did them sort of together. They are even buried very close. That’s nice because he was a great bud to both of us and I’ll join them there some time down the road.
BTW: Arlington and The Old Guard, as usual, did a nice ceremony. As a spouse with no service I expected nothing from The Old Guard for her but they did have a SGT ceremoniously receive her ashes from me and then he and a CPT placed them on the grave site with great dignity. I really appreciated that unexpected touch.

Vested was so impressed by Dicken’s heroic war exploits, he said he gave Dicken over $60,000 to buy the rights to his life story.

@SJ – I agree – we buried my Mom in my Dad’s plot at Arlington and whele they didn’t do the caisson and rifle salute, it was a very respectful and honorable military ceremony.
Despite the scandals, I have nothing but praise for the folks there – they have always done a great and professional job in every interaction I have ever had with ’em.
If he was on fire, I’d actually put him out of his misery after a couple of seconds. I’d do this thanks to the few seconds of pure laughter some of his ‘training’ videos have provided.

The technique you used in that comment is called “attacking the messenger”. It’s a common unethical and invalid rhetorical technique, and is often used by someone who has no valid argument to the contrary.
In your comment cited above, your use of that invalid rhetorical technique provides support for Dicken. It does so two ways: first, by making an irrelevant attack on the reporter who exposed him (your comment has nothing to do with the mater at hand); and second, by making an unsupported allegation that the reporter who exposed him may be lying and should not be believed.
Whether you intended to support Dicken with your comment or not does not matter. The effect of your comment was to support Dicken – whether you realized it or not.

@1 As someone born in the State that brought forth the Clintons and Wal-Mart, it does have a lot to answer for. Except Arkansas is probably where most of everyone’s chicken is from and most importantly of all, it is the birthplace of the Man in Black himself, Mr. Johnny Cash.

@34–Master Chief–the only “the bronze” I know of was from the first “Mad Max” movie–and anyone who saw that movie knows how HE ended up.
Bronze–yeah, by impuning the person who exposed Dicken you in an indirect way did support (or at least never condemned) Dicken. Kind of the whole “enemy of my enemy” bit, to phrase it a bit more simplisticly than Hondo.

They mentioned in the report that Dickenson lived in an RV park in Arkansas.It looked like he was on private land with a locked metal gate.There are many places where he could hide out in Arkansas with the forest/mountain region.Not difficult to blend in and change his I.D. Any further info on what town he was in..no doubt he has relocated after being discovered.
