Polk deputy shoots, kills knife-wielding man: PCSO
POLK COUNTY, Fla. — A Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputy shot and killed a man on Friday after he allegedly threatened the law enforcement officer with a knife, authorities said.
John Snyder, 37, a transient, was the man shot and killed, according to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.
Snyder, who was wanted for outstanding warrant of burglary and theft, had run from Polk deputies on Tuesday, Judd said.
Deputies found him again on Friday at about 11:30 p.m. in front of a McDonald’s restaurant on North Combee Road in Lakeland.
A deputy attempted to take Snyder into custody by using a Taser gun. He resisted, pushed the deputy off and started to run, Judd said. Other deputies arrived after being called for assistance.
Snyder then pulled a knife, Judd said.

Believe we have captured the knife-to-a-gunfight data point before. Thanks again, Gun Bunny.

The Castle Doctrine in effect with those first two.
I wonder if the perp in the window had any “oh no!” thoughts as he faced a blazing gun?
As much as we all love the 45ACP, there are accounts of folks getting shot in the face and having it ‘wrap around’ following bone. I’d be willing to wager that a 12ga 00buck would not have that problem.
Interesting.

The lovely Ms is the very epitome of “Lady In Red”.
Knew women in that “greatest generation” who refused to wear red dresses after John Dillinger was killed escorting a lady to the movies who wore a red dress to flag the cops. In at least one case, she feared mob retaliation if she was seen in one and mistaken for that more famous lady. Thought that was pretty funny.
I watched the preliminary press conference with Sheriff Judd. Classic Judd once again standing tall backing his people. The moral of his statements is, if you need shooting, you will be shot, a lot. We need more like him all across the country.
“If you need shooting…” step right up.
Face the facts…dood shoulda had a Pinochet helicopter ride towards the hospital. Wonder how much time he will face for his nefarious activities? May soon find himself face down, biting a pillow.
Gives a whole new meaning to the term “Like a Good Neighbor…”
Flur-Ruh-Duh Man… *sigh* “Don’t try to stab or shoot my deputies, because if you do, we’re going to shoot you a lot,” And they did! heh heh
The M14…still a bunch of them around when many of us served. Think there were more than just a few Arms rooms that didn’t turn them in. “…because of political meddling…” Yeah, Old Bob Mc shoulda stuck with running a car company. Be nice to have a time machine, go back, pick up a container full of them @ $68 a pop and sell them @ the current going rate.
I may have “A Lady in Red at the back of my head, but the woman in white is…” OAM! Ms Thang may be “red hot” but I’ll betcha that her heart “…is cold as ice”, man. For sure…a danger zone.
Ah, the M-14…my favorite weapon.
Had an M1A but sold it many years ago.
With bayonet mounted and that steel buttplate you can really
stand out in a crowd and do some damage sans ammo.
Here’s some numbers just for you, Jeff. Enjoy:

Oops, Sorry. Not Jeff, but the Beans Man. I guess I was thinking of LPH-3 Jeff when I did my reply.

Thats okay Claw. Later Alligator
My new to me nitroproofed Webley MkI* This one has been shaved and came with a couple moon clips and a .455 spacer. I have a crapload of .45 Autorim, so I doubt I’ll use the clips.
Eventually, I’ll be upgrading it with (both )new, still in cosmoline MkVI 6″ barrel and unshaved MkVI cylinder. Better metallurgy, more velocity.
I am appropriately…pea green with envy, RCAF. Nice score. Always like the look and feel of Webleys. Built back when the Brits still did a lot of things right. Personally, I think The King should open up The Armory and issue out weapons to the Native British (Read Anglo Saxons Whyte Pee Pill) and take the Kingdom back from the latest invaders. Sadly, I think it’s too late. Is good to see that the Irish are waking up and fighting back, so there is that.
That sounds like a good plan! Britain really did make some cool guns back in the day. I’m always on the look for a .577 wheelgun. Webley or Tranter
