Hasan fires lawyer
Hondo sends us a link from Fox News which announces that Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood murderer, has fired his lawyer.
The Army psychiatrist accused gunning down 13 people and wounding 32 others at Fort Hood in 2009 has fired his attorneys and told a military judge he wants to represent himself, Fox News has learned.
Maj. Nidal Hasan also said he is ready to begin the trial as scheduled.
Trial judge Col. Tara Osborn has postponed jury selection, which was set to begin May 30, until June 5 to allow “adequate time for … any pending or new motions and issues can be resolved.”
Yeah, he’s just using our own justice system against us and he plans to make the trial the Nidal Hasan Reality Show where he can run his suck incessantly. If I were the judge, I’d order that his colostomy bag is stuck in his yap before each session. I sure wish those Federal officers had been better shots.

Again, if they just changed it from “workplace violence” to “terrorist act” no more lawyer, no more trial, one way ticket to Guantanamo Bay, and all the fun that goes with it.
Then he can wear his beard all he wants, along with all the other terrorists there.
Any man who acts as his own lawyer has a fool for a client.
Anyone else think he’s going to try to claim insufficient representation when he’s found guilty?
Hey is just trying to stall the proceedings even more and he knows that if he represents himself he can say later on that he didn’t receive sufficient representation, acquittal… Just hang him.
They were good shots. If they were issued .45 he would have died. 9mm weapons are not suitable for law enforcement.
And ontop of all this, he’s still being paid.
Is this a jury trial? Doesn’t the Army have bench trials? Summary judgments?
I sincerely hope that the judge has a modicum of common sense, and Judge Judy’s attitude, and makes it quick. It’s just another delaying tactic by a coward.
I’d be happy to go fix him a meal of garden greens (rhubarb leaves and tomato stems) cooked with garlic and pork hocks, a slice of mystery meat (hog chitlins) and potatoes (with green parts).

@2–he’ll no doubt try, or his lawyers will, but it won’t work. But at least he’ll get his as he’ll be a prisoner rather than in confinement. That way he’ll have his pay, etc., cut off, and be forced to shave.
It’s not the needle, but it’s a start.
PH2–I’m sure he’ll be facing a general court-martial, which IIRC will be nine officers, plus a JAG judge.
I have been reading accounts of Hasan’s mentoring by the American-born, drone-dispatched Muslim cleric, Anwar al-Aulaqi, and it drives me to the unavoidable conclusion that Hasan’s murderous acts of November 5, 2009 cannot be reasonably categorized as anything but terrorism. Nevertheless, for whatever reason, despite the mountain of evidence linking the cleric and Hasan, the US government has concluded otherwise. It is both unconscionable and unjustifiable, for legal or any other reason, for the government to label the killings anything but terrorism. So, now I’m all pissed off again—as if there wasn’t enough foolishness, if not criminality, flowing from the current regime. So, Hasan fired his attorneys and will represent himself when his trial begins, if it ever begins. If it starts in July, it will be 3 ½ years since the attack.
But, has he shaved yet? I’d love to help, although my straight razor could be a (ahem) problem.
This SON OF A BITCH, this sorryassed MUSLIM ASSHOLE is working our system with the administration being complicit. To name this “Workplace Violence” rather than its TRUE NAME of AN ACT OF TERRORISM, is “Aiding and abetting the enemy”, and the person who has the power to name it as such should be on trial as a “Participant after the fact”.
He and his Islamic asshole counterparts are laughing their asses off.
No matter the outcome, it will be better for him than to have been killed at the scene, so no matter how it plays out, he will have won.
Will this “Politically Correct” country ever be able to claim that we can defeat these assholes?
No razor needed. Scissors or clippers with guard to get it short, then Magic Shave or Nair (or equivalent) to remove the rest. That way he can’t squirm around and self-inflict cuts while he’s in restraints so he can later claim brutality.
And let a female soldier do the job. That will put her in a position of power over him – and will really bust his chops. (smile)
There used to be a nasty depilator that literally yanked the hair right out of your skin. Made people bleed. It was taken off the market, but I’d be willing to see it used in this case.
Also, I know a cat groomer who is widely known to handle the nastiest felines on the planet and has the scars to prove it. She could just yank that rat’s nest right off his face, and hold him down while he squawks.
I’d pay money to see that.
First, give it atransfusion of pig blood, then hang the damn thing.
1. Rope.
2. Tree.
3. Terrorist.

WHEW! I’ll bet that lie-yer is glad to be away from Hasan and this case. Seeing as it’s practically an open-&-shut slam dunk, this case wouldn’t look good on any lie-yer’s resume.
And, now that the lie-yer is no longer working for Hasan, any conversations and information the lie-yer has is no longer protected under attorney-client, right? I wonder if the lie-yer is willing, even eager to share said information? I wonder if the judge and JAG will even ask?

You’re right. Any one who has himself for a lawyer, has a fool for a client.
Hasan fired his lawyer? Okay. Now if we could just fire Hasan…
I’d use Napalm myself — but I’d be open to suggestions, too.
How about lye soap for lather and his choice of these three beard removers:
HCl – hydrochloric acid
HNO3 – nitric acid
H2SO4 – sulfuric acid
How’s that old saying go? “Someone who represents themselves has a fool for a client”?
Before any judge will grant him leave to represent himself he will be thoroughly counseled about the dangers of self-representation and will need to waive any right of appeal based on inadequate counsel.
His former lawyer’s conversations with him, I believe, are still subject to lawyer-client confidentiality – the severance of the relationship does not waive that confidentiality.
Believe both ofthe above are true – is there a lawyer in the house (Jonn) who can confirm/deny?
#18, that’s usually “a lawyer who represents himself often has a fool for a client.”
‘course, you could excise words three, four, and five and still have a perfectly true statement…ditto for your version. ‘s not always true, but often.
#15, no, that is not correct. Every lawyer-client relationship ends eventually; but the lawyer doesn’t get to reveal the confidential communications just because it’s ended. (If it were otherwise that would defeat the purpose of having confidentiality in the first place.)
#19, mostly correct. You don’t have the guy explicitly “waive his right to appeal based on inadequate counsel.” The only right he is waiving is the right to representation (from then on). Of course if he’s rejected his right to be represented at all, he’s effectively waiving his right to complain the representative is no good…
The standard script for a person who decides to represent himself at court-martial is on pages 111 through 113 of the Military Judges’ Benchbook (which you can find by googling). ‘course the judge is free to go further in her inquiry.
Outside of that, you’re exactly right.
Lawyer or lawer? Be sure to convict & execute scumbag forthwith! – Ronad Mailahn
Yeah, a traitor Islamist who’s already shown contempt of military rule and court representing himself. I’m sure that’s going to go smoothly.
If there were any justice in this world this false prophet satanic cult believer’s face would have been shot off at the scene and his lifeless husk dumped into the closet pig farm feeding troth.
Out of respect for the fact my memories of that day are still fresh in thought, I am keeping my mouth clamped shut about this latest development.
But believe me, I have plenty to say.
@16, PintoNag, I’d use Willy Pete, either via a grenade or a Howitzer Warhead.
@17, Chop IT, how ’bout using a road flare instead, and cauterizing the wound with lard?
If they had classified this as terrorism, the survivors would have recieved PHs, no? And doesn’t a PH give you free tricare for the rest of your life? Why the hell are they calling this “Work place violence?”
We’ve already heard more from obamaman about Guantanamo Bay and the military’s sexual misconduct issues than we ever heard from him on Fort Hood and Benghazi combined. One was merely a disgruntled major who went postal, and the other was something he knew nothing about, other than it had to do with a video no one saw. No terrorism. No problem. I’m waiting to hear that the FBI investigation concludes that the bombers’ motive was unrelated to Islam.
