Huckabee thinks Obama will driven from office over Benghazi

| May 7, 2013

Politico reports that former Arkansas governor and perennial Presidential candidate, Mike Huckabee thinks that the scandal of Benghazi as it’s currently emerging will drive the President from office;

“I believe that before it’s all over, this president will not fill out his full term. I know that puts me on a limb,” the former Arkansas governor said on “The Mike Huckabee Show.” “But this is not minor. It wasn’t minor when Richard Nixon lied to the American people and worked with those in his administration to cover-up what really happened in Watergate. But, I remind you — as bad as Watergate was, because it broke the trust between the president and the people, no one died. This is more serious because four Americans did in fact die.”

Huckabee, however, said his predication about Obama “will not happen” if the Democrats seize control of the House and retain control of the Senate next year.

Yeah, good luck with that. Hasn’t he been paying attention the last twenty years or so? Democrats don’t have to pay for any of their activities in office. I remember in 1998 when the Republicans were foolishly convinced that they could remove Clinton from office. In fact, they just took it for granted and quit reforming the government and started acting like a bunch of Democrats. Yep, won’t work, no matter who is running Congress. You’d have to change the American culture overnight – they couldn’t change the culture enough to get Romney elected, they won’t change it enough to impeach this President. And what would you impeach him for anyway? Do you honestly thing people are going to sacrifice their cell phones and food stamps because of four dead Americans? Fat chance.

Besides, Jay Carney already told them it happened a long time ago and it doesn’t matter.

Sorry, Republicans, you let Candy Crowley bully you into sitting down and shutting up when you had your chance. It’s kind of late. How about just rallying the troops to stop the Obama agenda instead of betting the farm on something that’s never going to happen.

It may not be the latest and greatest tune, but I do like the sound of that drum he is beating.

NHSparky

Huckabee and thinking. Yeah, you see me workin here.

Until Dems see it as necessary to save their own hides by turning on obamaman (and some certainly will), it’s just not going to happen. But the cart is in front of the horse right now. We need sworn testimony and more folks to step up to establish what happened in the hours, days, and weeks after the terrorist attack. We’ll know Thursday evening IF CBS, NBC, and ABC lead off with the story and, if so, how they paint it.

Claymore

This is my skeptical face.

ChipNASA

Well it worked in August 1974.
One can only hope.
It’s May….we have time.

NHSparky

Chip, not happening. For one, liberals have no sense of shame. Second, they crave one thing–POWER. Throwing Obama to the wolves will not help their chances in the midterms next year or in the 2016 general.

No, they’ll throw Hillary under the bus, and that’ll pretty much be that. Not like she was going to get the nomination anyway.

2/17 Air Cav

@6. Someone is going to have to say that obamaman was not told anything. It’s that 2 a.m. call and he just turned over in bed.

Nik

Never. Gonna. Happen.

Nobody really wants it.

Remember: President Joseph Biden.

NHSparky

And that’s the other issue. Even the Democrats know they don’t want Slow Joe with his finger anywhere near the football…

I just want to see him sweat. I want to see him try to Bubba-fye this whole thing.
Then again, I don’t want to be responsible for putting my foot through my Tee Vee Skreen.

I told you that on the 5th, Jonn. I know you guys are cynics, but stranger things have happened.

To paraphrase Theoden, who had long laboured under the spell of Grima Wormtongue, his voice has lost its charm.

The spell is wearing off.

Difference between Nixon Watergate coverup and Obama Benghazi coverup is that the mainstream media hated Nixon. Make that really really really hated and totally despised Nixon. Also, they didn’t like him. Really.

Not so with Obama.

Twist

It won’t happen. He could sacrafice puppies on an alter to Satan on the White House lawn while waterboarding Mother Teresa and the Libs would still love him.

Ex-PH2

My goodness, how short memory can be.

Nixon was well-liked until he was elected and began to literally fall apart as president. Watergate and its associated illegal acts were his undoing.

If you think that the press, which is made up of rabid dogs, hyenas and jackals, won’t turn on someone in a heartbeat, you’re haven’t paid attention when they’ve done that. The internet makes it happen even faster. There are plenty of people who thought Bodaprez was just great four years ago, and since then have changed their minds.

PintoNag

What Twist said in #14.

Nothing seems to be able to stick to him. He’s the newest “Teflon Don.” I wish that were not the case, but it is.

Claymore

Best case scenario: both Obama and Hillary are politically wounded and rendered neuter for the next two election cycles.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

It’s a nice dream for Huckabee no doubt, but there’s no juice at this outlet just yet. There are far too many links to take out of the chain long before you get anywhere near the anchor.

Ex-PH2: I beg to differ re: Nixon. I’d say the general population was largely ambivalent to wary regarding Nixon. However, most of the press had wanted to stick it to Nixon ever since his “Pink Lady” campaign against Helen Gahagan Douglas and the Hiss hearings (even back then, much of the press leaned “progressive”). That was especially true after the “Checkers” speech, where Nixon rather deftly turned the tables on those in the press who though they’d gotten rid of him. And it really became evident after Nixon’s comeback win in 1968. In short: in 1972, many in the press were looking for any excuse to nail Nixon because they detested him personally. And those that didn’t detest him personally had become skeptical about anything coming out of the White House because of the LBJ Administration’s repeated lies – so they weren’t inclined to believe much he said, either. Nixon won in a landslide over McGovern because he was doing a decent job, had wound down the war in Vietnam (as he’d promised to do), had done so without causing the economy to completely tank, and because the public perceived McGovern as a leftist idiot out of touch with reality (he was). But Nixon admired or well-liked? Um, no – definitely not by the press, and probably not by most of the public. The press detested him. And while the public didn’t hate him like the press did, they still were wary of trusting him. The sad thing is that if Nixon had thrown those on his campaign committee who’d pulled Watergate to the wolves publicly, IMO he’d have won in an even bigger landslide than he did. The “knock” on Nixon was that a lot of folks simply didn’t feel they could trust him – that he was “shifty” or “tricky”. Him coming out on the side of being fully open regarding Watergate and “cleaning house” preemptively would have undercut that image and guaranteed him a bigger margin IMO. Unfortunately, since the press really HAD been out to get him for over 2 decades by then, Nixon was IMO… Read more »

The American public = Benghazi who?

NYT, Politico, Buzzfeed, CNN, Yahoo News – they’re all burying Benghazi, totally cover up, just like Gosnell the abortionist/murderer, even though the hearings are tomorrow.

I did find it on USA Today. Nothing at our local rag, The Denver Post.

If the MSM doesn’t report it, it never happened.

Devtun

OK it looks like CNN Wolf Blitzer show doing some in depth Benghazi coverage tonight…also CNN covering the hearings live tomorrow.

Ex-PH2

Most likely, there will not be much going on in the news about the hearings on Benghazi until they are actually underway, but I did find this on CNN’s site:

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2013/05/04/witness-names-released-for-benghazi-hearing/

Also, Hicks’ lawyer indicates he’s been getting threats – mostly regarding job loss – from State Dept, which does not surprise me, considering what a bunch of buttkissers they are.

2/17 Air Cav

I just visited the online networks of CBS, NBC, and ABC. You can find one Benghazi-related story on CBS if you page all the way down, well below Christie’s weight issues, something about the Simpsons TV show, and a fire near Mexico city. NBC has a small pic of obamaman on page #1. Benghazi? No, it’s a story about his not tolerating military sexual assaults! Finally, there’s ABC. Its first page (at least) likewise ignores Benghazi but does share the Christie weight story and, more importantly, one about Justin Bieber being sued for copyright infringement. Yep, this is just like the Watergate coverage.

Kenneth

I did find it on CNN and in the Daily Telegraph, but I had to look for it.

The CNN newsreader seemed very reluctant to even countenance the idea that Obama might have done wrong, and went out of her way to give him the benefit of the doubt. The two guests gave their thoughts on the matter in an impartial fashion, though their thoughts were pretty damning for the Obama administration. I got the impression that CNN were running damage control for the President though.

2/17 Air Cav

Okay, Madam Frein will be disappointed. Of course, there’s always her backyard. And as a consolation prize, maybe she and her husband will name the bombers’ family as their life insurance beneficiaries.

2/17 Air Cav

@25 STRIKE. Wrong Thread. Sorry.

Herbert J Messkit

I’m looking forward to the whistleblower hearings tomorrow, but concerned that the Stupid party politicians will find a way to screw up the hearings by making long speeches instead of asking short direct questions and getting the facts out there. Where was the Sec of State and what did she do or fail to do? Where was the POTUS and what did he do or fail to do? What WARNORDS were issued? Was there a 3 AM phone call?
Was it picked up?

David

The media will turn like a pack of hyenas if they sense someone vulnerable can be savaged – and they don’t like him. There has been nothing but fawning over King Obama and blind infatuation with every pronouncement to date. At most they will hang an underling or two. There have been almost two generations of news-hacks come and gone since Watergate, and a) the new group doesn’t have the stones or integrity and b) they have been raised since birth to suckle the liberal tit. My money is on Obama this time, like it or not.

Nik

@21

Devtun, I’m sure it will be Wolf’s in depth, hard-hitting investigation showing, beyond a shadow of a doubt, why this is Bush’s fault.

Hondo

I want to hear someone ask the question, “What did the President know, and when did he know it?” sometime during this investigation. I really do.

Remind me again how many folks died as the result of Watergate?

Ex-PH2

I’m sticking to my guns.

OWB

It is a forgone conclusion that nothing will come of it if no one insists that the tough questions be asked. So keep asking!

Smaj

Obama, Clinton, Patraeus, Panetta and Dempsey are guilty of criminal negligence in the deaths of 4 Americans and lying to the American people about it- all should spend time in federal prison, but they won’t, of course. The propagandists in the MSM will go to great lengths to protect The Won and their next choice for president, Hillary. The MSM will distract and befuddle the LoFos and this will likely go nowhere, unfortunately. Huckabee should stick to what he does best- selling used cars (apologies to all used car sales people).

2/17 Air Cav

The thing is that the House Majority Leader, that cry baby idiot, John Bonehead, refused to appoint a select committee to investigate Benghazi. He explained that the issue had not risen to that level as yet! What’s so special about a select committee? Its powers to subpoena bodies and documents from, among other places, the White House. So, if you have a rep in Congress who is a Republican, send an email asking for a select committee to investigate Benghazi fully.

Nik

And here we go. Big surprise.

“I’m not sure the hearings will be able to live up to the hype,” Peterson said. “I think the hype is part of the political strategy here on the part of those folk on the right who are very much interested in making sure that this story – or nonstory, if you will – continues to live and breathe.”

Source: http://www.mediaite.com/tv/msnbc-contributor-on-nonstory-of-benghazi-whistleblowers-im-not-sure-why-this-is-a-big-story-right-now/

verm

I agree with the huckster. It’s one thing to bs the public about lack of forces or time.

It’s entirely another matter when the president unleashes the full force of govt on some unknown guy (the film maker) to create a stupid cover story.

UpNorth

@35, of course, to anyone who works at MSDNC, 4 dead Americans, including an ambassador, is a non-story. Meanwhile, on NBC’s website, above the Chris Christie weight story is this headline, which everyone has been waiting breathlessly for, “Surprise, Europeans are all realated, scientists say”. There you have it, the important headline for today.

Ex-PH2

UpNorth, the much more important headline is what Kim Kardashian wore to the Met gala and whether or not Justin Bieber is being trashed with no justification.

Devtun

Well looks like former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton echoing
Guvnuh Huck’s line of thinking. I just don’t think the Emperor can be touched…not w/ the teflon shield of invincibility granted by the slobbering liberal media. Hopefully the Republicans at the hearings tomorrow stay on point and don’t go wandering off on half baked assertions.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/may/7/john-bolton-benghazi-could-bring-down-obama-admini/

Detn8r

John, bottom line, I believe you are right. Too late for the hope of getting these losers out, time to come together and prep for the next battle!

Twist

AP is running the story, but of course they are spinning it to be a political attack by the Republicans.

USMCE8Ret

Jonn wrote: “I remember in 1998 when the Republicans were foolishly convinced that they could remove Clinton from office.” Maybe Huckabee is like those 17-year cicada’s that are supposed to emerge in Virginia soon – been underground since 1996. (They went underground right when the Monica Lewinsky blow-job-in-the-White-House issue spiked during the Clinton administration)

DaveO

All depends on how well the JournOlist bunch is paid off by Hillary. The Establishmentarian GOP will give her a pass – after all, what does it matter? And besides, she is just like them. Same likes, dislikes, and goals.

But the JournOlisters still want their 6 and 7 figure lifestyles, political appointments, and sinecures. So, Obama’s and Hillary’s future all depends…

David

I’m OK if all we come away with from this are all of the facts about the Benghazi debacle. It’s important we know how our government functions, or malfunctions, and how people at various levels function, or try to function, within government.

The Benghazi before-during-after debacles are ugly. Very ugly. Heads should roll, in my humble opinion, but for now I’ll just wait for the story to be made complete.
