IL teen arrested on way to Syria

| April 21, 2013

The FBI arrested Abdella Ahmad Tounis as he was about to board a flight at O’Hare airport bound for Turkey and then he had planned on joining al Qaeda in Syria according to Fox News;

Tounisi, a U.S. citizen, was snared in an Internet sting after contacting a sham website set up by the FBI that purported to hook up would-be fighters with terrorists, the federal complaint says.

That arrest stands in stark contrast to John Kerry’s pledge of another $123 million in aid to Syrian rebels;

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry announced the new package of assistance in a written statement at the conclusion of the conference that began Saturday afternoon and stretched into early Sunday.

The additional aid, which brings total non-lethal U.S. assistance to the opposition to $250 million since the fighting began, “underscores the United States’ firm support for a political solution to the crisis in Syria and for the opposition’s advancement of an inclusive, tolerant vision for a post-Assad Syria,” he said.

I just think it’s a waste of time and resources for law enforcement to be focusing on teenagers trying to get to Syria while John Kerry is shelling out millions of dollars to the same people the teen tried to join. I mean, it would seem much more productive for the FBI to set up a sham website tempting folks in Dearbornestan to go to join al Shabaab in Somalia or something. Or we could even stop sending money to Syrian rebels all together, however that civil war ends up, they’re going to hate us anyway no matter what we do, so do like I do here at home – take the cheaper option.

C’mon now. Perhaps Abdella was on the way over there to teach the Syrians how to sing “Father Abraham” and “Jesus Loves the Little Children.” After all, what other reason could he possibly have?

This is what I think every time I hear of something John “I was in Vietnam” Kerry…

Hey give the kid a break…he probably just figured it was safer to live in Syria than Chicago-Rahmistan.

So the money, American tax dollars, is “for the opposition’s advancement of an inclusive, tolerant vision for a post-Assad Syria.” That’s great. Inclusivity. Tolerance. I know that all ambassador and State Dept types lie for a living. I get that. What I don’t get is whether they believe anyone believes them. Syria. Inclusivity? Tolerance? Syria?

SecState Kerry and AG Holder are apparatchiks. Too bad nobody knows B. Hussein Obama’s actual policy on Syria.

For some reason this story gave me the mental image of MSNBC doing a spin-off of to catch a predator. I can also see that going very wrong.

Hey, if some moron wants to go die in Syria, I say let them. Allah Snackbar.

Of course the reason they had time to arrest the kid is because of flight delays caused by sequestration furloughs because they didn’t have $123 million to pay air traffic controllers because they sent it to Syrian rebels. THERE is
administration logic. See, it’s working!

Tounisi’s daddy says he doesn’t believe his kid did anything wrong. He was raised here, so he’s all-American.

Right.
