Gun grabbers bully NASCAR

| April 14, 2013

Eggs and ROS send us links to the story that gun grabbers are bullying NASCAR in regards to the National Rifle Association’s sponsorship of some NASCAR events. Gun grabbing Democrat Christopher Murphy, Senator from Connecticut, a place where I’m guessing there’s a lot of room between NASCAR fans, wrote to Rupert Murdoch to convince the CEO of News Corp, which owns Fox, to not broadcast the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series because of NRA’s sponsorship.

“The horror that unfolded on December 14th at Sandy Hook Elementary School has sparked a national conversation about the adequacy of our gun laws,” Murphy wrote to Murdoch. “Considering your support of sane gun control measures and the extreme nature of the NRA, I urge you to not broadcast this race on April 13th. Inserting Fox Sports in this debate at this critical time will give credence to an extreme organization that is opposed to reasonable policies to stem gun violence.”

Yeah, the NRA behaved as properly as they could after the Sandy Hook shootings – they stayed silent out of respect for the victims. It’s the gun grabbers who acted like tools – calling for the NRA to be quiet, and then criticizing the organization when they stayed quiet. And instead of blaming the perpetrators of the crime, Adam Lanza and his mother, they blame the millions of gun owners who took no part in the crime. And, I’m betting good money that there are more NRA members among NASCAR fans than gun grabbers, so NASCAR’s carefully measured statement will probably be criticized by fans everywhere. From ESPN;

“The NRA’s sponsorship of the event at Texas Motor Speedway fit within existing parameters that NASCAR affords tracks in securing partnerships,” said NASCAR spokesman David Higdon. “However, this situation has made it clear that we need to take a closer look at our approval process moving forward, as current circumstances need to be factored in when making decisions.”

Texas Motor Speedway president Eddie Gossage, on Friday criticized Higdon’s statement, says The Blaze;

“I would say about Mr. Higdon is, I think he’s new to the sport and doesn’t quite understand how it all works,” Gossage told local ESPN Dallas radio host Randy Galloway. “And he could have just as easily put out a quote that said C.Y.A. [cover your ass]. That’s what that is.”

“It’s a PR mistake to have made that statement,” he added. “They should have conferred with some other folks before they issued that.”

Yeah, if I was NASCAR, I’d stay out of the whole fight, and leave the NRA alone. The reason that the NRA sponsors races is because most of the fans are legal gun owners, and if some effete, sniveling Leftist gun grabber from the northeast wants to tell NASCAR how to do their business, he should buy himself a seat on the board instead of sniping from behind his seat in Congress. If voters in Connecticut want more gun laws and to abandon their God-given rights, that’s fine, but they need to leave the rest of us alone.

We already know how Connecticut voters choose their representation – they put a Stolen Valor criminal in the Senate right before our eyes.

Aren’t these the same people who say bullying leads people to commit suicide or mass murder? That would make it seem that bullying the NRA would be very unwise.

Comrades in Arms:

I already have NO respect for NASCAR because they’ve banned display of the Confederate battle flag at their events.

Of course, NASCAR fans could fool race officials by displaying the Bonny Blue Flag, since very few people would recognize it when they saw it.

HINT: The Bonny Blue Flag looks exactly like the flag of brigadier general in the United States Air Force.

Although referred to in a popular song by Southron patriots, as the first of eleven states began to secede, the beloved Bonny Blue Flag actually originated during the revolt against Spain by the Republic of West Florida a half century before the War Between The States, and it was also used by the newly created Republic of Texas a quarter of a century earlier.

NASCAR, Blekh. NASCAR bares no more resemblance to racing than Obama is to leadership. Nascar is the personal property of one inbred incestuous family. It is a giant money making enterprise that is about marketing and franchising. Don’t get me wrong the fellows who drive those machines have cast iron balls, but they are driving, not racing. Lets say you wnted to get a set of official NASCAR TECH specs. First you must pay to join up and that is not cheap. These cars are called ‘Stock cars’ and they are anything but stock. Even the carefully calibrated bodies are not stock. Don’t believe me? Go out and buy a 2 door Camray or Impalla SS. So it’s not racing, it’s intertainment with very spectacular crashes. It does nothing to improve the breed.
when I read of this sissy lefty trying to shame Fox and the France Family Interoprise (AKA, NASCAR) it made me sick. I don’t often watch NASCAR except for the aforementioned crashes, but I watched last night. If either FOX or NASCAR had folded to this lefty extortion I vowed never to watch FOX or NASCAR again. I was pretty sure Fox would stand strong, I was not so sure about NASCAR as they depend on a lot of government money at the local venues they use to stage their farce called “Stock Car Racing”

PS Dannika Patrick sucks. An equal opportunity hire, nothing less.

It only took the Fox Sports crew 104 laps or so to say it was the NRA 500 last night

2/17 Air Cav

“Dannika Patrick sucks.” Hope springs eternal.

As for Senator Whatshisname, now would be a good time to srutinize every penny he took from anyone to pay for his Senate seat.

Can you just imagine the typical gun grabbing liberal children facing off against typical NASCAR fans? I’d buy a ticket to watch. Who wants the beer concession?

NR Pax

“So let me get this straight: You don’t watch NASCAR, you don’t pay for our advertisers, you don’t purchase tickets to our shows and you don’t like the NRA. Why is your opinion so important, little one?”

2/17 Air Cav, You are a naughty boy. She is very likely a very nice person. She is also a married lady with parents and friends. She sucks as a racing driver. She is nothing more than an actress in a reality series. Of course some of her male counterparts suck as well.

As someone pointed out on another site (I forget where I read it, now): Murphy wasn’t just showing his anti-2A bias, this was a two-fer. By trying to get Fox to not broadcast the race, he was also showing his anti-1A bias.

“And instead of blaming the perpetrators of the crime, Adam Lanza and his mother…”

Maybe you know something about the case that I don’t — I admit I haven’t followed it terribly closely — but how is Lanza’s mother a perpetrator in the Sandy Hook shootings?

Is it a known fact that she was negligent in the keeping of her weapons?

Eggs

There was also a report on ESPN.com that two drivers were instructed not to do interviews in the media center so they would not appear with the NRA logo on the walls. Regardless of how one feels about NASCAR in general or its drivers, this is just all dicked up.

David

@10 – were you perhaps commenting on another article?

On the original subject – Murphy should note that the NRA drastically downplayed their sponsorship – normally the title sponsor gets huge bloc of advertising and air time. As was mentioend, their sponsorship was almost invisible.

Ms. Patrick may not be the greatest driver out there – I saw her in Indy Lights, IRL, and now… but you might consider the company she is in. She is probably an average driver in that group…. which is made up pretty much exclusively of members of the top 1% of drivers in the world.

Thunderstixx

Some idiot at Nascar came out and said that NASCAR would have to look at how it decides who can sponsor a race with them.
What a bunch of horses***…
NASCAR is filled with gun-toting rednecks that are proud of their heritage, proud of themselves and proud of their racing. Leave it to a bunch of Lilly livered no spine to try to screw it up…
Where do these people think they got their freedom???
It was up to us to work to keep that freedom and these morons do nothing but want to take it away from us…
Live free, ride hard.

David (12): “@10 – were you perhaps commenting on another article?”

Nope, this one. Just below the first quote:

“Yeah, the NRA behaved as properly as they could after the Sandy Hook shootings – they stayed silent out of respect for the victims. It’s the gun grabbers who acted like tools – calling for the NRA to be quiet, and then criticizing the organization when they stayed quiet. And instead of blaming the perpetrators of the crime, Adam Lanza and his mother, they blame the millions of gun owners who took no part in the crime. And, I’m betting good money that there are more NRA members among NASCAR fans than gun grabbers, so NASCAR’s carefully measured statement will probably be criticized by fans everywhere.”

So I repeat: Is it a known fact that Lanza’s mother was negligent in the keeping of her weapons?
