McCain; “I don’t understand”
The Hill writes that McCain says that he doesn’t understand why a slew of Republican Senators are planning to filibuster the Reid Gun Control Bill thats’ coming to the floor this week, apparently. Aside from there being a whole voluminous list of stuff that McCain doesn’t understand, I have to agree with him a bit. But first;
“I don’t understand why United States senators want to block debate when the leaders said we could have amendments,” McCain added.
A number of GOP lawmakers, including Sens. Rand Paul (Ky.), Mike Lee (Utah), Marco Rubio (Fla.), and Ted Cruz (Texas) wrote to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) vowing that they would “oppose the motion to proceed to any legislation that will serve as a vehicle for any additional gun restrictions.”
I know Republicans are heartened by the reaction of the public after Rand Paul’s 13-hour filibuster and I tend to think that filibustering the gun control vote won’t turn out as well for them as it did for Paul, and besides, I want a vote on gun control.
I know the Washington Post is optimistic that the vote will result in universal background checks and finally close that non-existent gun show loop hole that everyone is saying this week killed those kids in Newtown. But, I don’t think it will happen, actually. I just want a list of gun grabbing Fascists to publish. A list of gun-grabbing Fascists that won’t have jobs next year.
In fact, I’m a little disappointed that Reid doesn’t have the testicular fortitude to bring the Feinstein bill to the floor, too, because like Reid, I don’t think it will pass and do more damage to the Democat’s majority in the Senate than a plane crashing into the Capitol. But, I’m pretty sure that among America’s gun owners, the list of whom is growing every day, the damage has been done, just by having the one-sided “national discussion” and the Democrats showing their collective ass.
So while I agree with McCain that there should be a vote without a filibuster, he’s being a pussy about it.
Category: Gun Grabbing Fascists
113 days after Sandy Hook, and yet no lawmaker has addressed:
1–how to keep guns out of the hands of criminals.
2–how to keep guns out of the hands of lunatics.
3–how to put/keep people who are lunatics into facilities which will help them and keep the public safe should they choose to not medicate.
Am I missing anything here?
I don’t understand McCain.
He’s achieved the fighter pilots’ dream. He’s married to a good-looking blonde who owns a beer franchise.
He should just go home and enjoy life.
Senator McCain doesn’t understand it because he has spent way too much time in Washington D.C. and is out of touch with the people.
Why is he still listed as a Republican? Same goes with his daughter.
@1 Yes you are missing something, they have addressed keeping guns out of the hands of people who have never committed a crime and aren’t going to commit one.
Remember this simple rule, Bush was bad Obama is good….therefore:
Under Bush: Patriot Act Invasion of Privacy and Erosion of our rights
Under Obama: Patriot Act, a Necessary tool to keep us safe thanks to Obama
Under Bush: Dunking a terrorist in some water with a towel on his face while making sure he lives was torture and cruel and inhuman
Under Obama: The right to kill an American with a robot without any form of due process is a necessary tool to keep us safe thanks to Obama
Under Bush: Letting the assault weapons ban lapse was a horrible judgment allowed by a corrupt regime to keep murderers knee deep in weapons of death, even though the crime rate fell every single year after the lapse Bush was terribly evil for allowing this to happen
Under Obama: Enacting a new AWB along with registration that will do nothing to prevent 99% of the murders in the nation and absolutely fails to address any of the reasons Lanza had access to weapons is a necessary tool to keep us safe thanks to Obama.
As long as you understand that anything Obama does is to keep us safe and thus it’s necessary and wonderful you will be appropriately grateful…..
Of course if you happen to notice that the emperor’s new clothes are a little threadbare….well, welcome to the fun my friend.
“I’m a little disappointed that Reid doesn’t have the testicular fortitude….” Doesn’t such fortitude require testicles? Pelosi, she has them–but she lacks the fortitude.
Senator McCain is another fine example of why we need term limits in Congress. He’s been part of the “Inner DC Beltway Country Club” for way too long, and he lost touch with the public and reality long ago! When was the last time he ever listened and paid attention to anyone other than another long-time legislator or a big money lobbyist?
There is so much that Sen. McCain doesn’t understand.
mcshame is just another rino dirt-bag
McCain has rediscovered that talking badly about his fellow Republicans gets him friendly press time again. I guess he missed that.
McCain is troublesome for many Veterans. We are loathe to disparage someone who gave so much in the country’s service and, yet, so many of us would like to slap him silly.
@11 – amen. The man’s picture is in the dictionary next to the definition of “senility” but due to his past, it’s hard to publicly tell the truth that the lights are on, but nobody’s home.Any more, Palin looks like she was the stronger half of that ticket…. and that is truly scary,
since she is out of her depth in a parking lot puddle.
Anybody notice how enforcement of the gun laws we have is nonexistent, and has resulted in the deaths of a lot of Mexicans, not to mention at least two of our own agents?
Oh, yeah, and the kid at Sandy Hook was supposed to have been on some meds. Notice how there’s no word on that?
Nekkid emporor, indeed.
@12: I’l say one thing about Sarah Palin: she reads the document before she comments on it. That puts her ahead of nearly everybody we have in public life, today. I know this, because I read, and I can tell when somebody is faking it.
#7 Proud Infidel,
Instead of term limits, how about pay, entitlements and benefits limits?
Let them put their own $$ into their own 401k etc. Same for health care. Pay for their own plane tickets out of their own pockets, domestic AND overseas (overseas military/war zones exception).
Senator McCain, thank you for your service, now it’s time to retire and enjoy your grandchildren.
I believe the technical term for McCain is “Wacko Bird.”
This is McCain’s last term. He’ll be 82 in 2018, and he knows he’ll be primaried and likely lose. Compare his 2012 campaign commercial to “Just build the damned fence” with his watching an illegal going over the fence a few weeks ago.
Between now and January, 2019, McCain can do a whole lotta damage. McCain does keep grudges, and he is faster than a rattlesnake when it comes to betraying the Republicans.
McCain’s game today: “Kiss My Ass”
We thank you for your service Sen McCain.
Here’s a clue: “The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be abridged.”
The rights of the people under our Constitution are of equal importance. However, without the first, no one would know if the others have been violated. Without the second, there would be no way to protect the first or any of the others.
