A Dorner Postscript
Decided I’d post this to “close the books” on Dorner, so to speak.
Apparently the initial reports of a single gunshot fired inside the cabin where Dorner was holed up just before it burned were correct. According to coroner’s reports, Dorner died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head vice from a police round, fire, or smoke inhalation.
Perhaps the idea of getting a preview of his afterlife as the cabin burned around him was too much for him to face.

But…but Hondo, you can’t be right! He was a hero exposing injustice by killing people that were related to people that sat in on the judiciary that eventually led to someone else firing him! Truly, such an honorable and just man would never give up the fight to expose police brutality by killing innocent people so easily. He would never take the easy way out. You simply must be wrong.

He had a legitimate complaint and screwed it up from there. Its no secret that LAPD and many other agencies have ‘inconsistencies’ in their protocols and practices. It’s what you do with that afterward that makes a difference.
Yeah, it turns out that he was a short walk from the command post while the police were hunting him. As for the legitimacy of his complaint, he had his hearing, he didn’t like the result, and he was aggrieved. So, he executed a few people who had nothing whatsoever to do with his issue, the hearing, or the result. Next item
He was nothing more that a fat hairy terd hanging out the world’s ass. He got pinched off.
I’d love to read that after action report regarding the “shootout” at the cabin. CA needs to overhaul their police departments ASAP.

Criminal murderer or not. Justified complaint or not. There are lessons to be learned here, that just ONE MAN can tie up an entire city in panic — at least the po-po that he was apparently targeting. The average citizen had more to fear from the po-po then they did from Dorner.
Now, just think, if there are even a small GROUP of armed citizens, with even a half-assed plan of guerrilla attack against TPTB . . . . Ahhh, it warms the cockles of my heart. And apparently thinking about that particular scenario still does nothing to dissuade TPTB against continuing their attacks against our freedoms.
Be/get prepared. Got tribe? Got targets? Got lone wolf?
Actually B. Woodman, the decedent Mr. Dorner had a specific region of California tied up in a “panic” so to speak. When it gets down to it, if one goes back through history there is plenty of documentation of criminals acting alone or in gangs that have performed such actions. Based on that, this is nothing new. A prime example is Texas and the very reason that the Texas Rangers (DPS) came to be. Stephen Austin needed them to counter the criminal elements that were roaming the state, robbing and killing the citizenry. Much like modern day street gangs except, politicians these days have determined criminals and gangs have more rights than the average taxpaying citizen does.
Let’s rewrite this.
“Dorner dies from self-inflicted gunshot to the big toe”.

I want to know where he got those nifty flash suppressors for his assault rifles. You know, the ones which “masked the location the gunfire was coming from when he shot at the first two deputies?”
Come to think of it, I want to know where he got his “assault rifles” as well. I have a funny feeling they only fire one round per squeeze. :-/

Such a display of tactics and marksmanship the LAPD is renown.
It was a complete cluster FU** by LAPD from the beginning to the end when Dorner blew his pistol.
At least we now know why State & Feds are buying up so much ammo – much easier to pray and spray than actually learn how to shoot.

You are correct to your history. But not being from Texas (no excuse), I’m not exactly familiar with the full of the Ranger’s history.
But I also see many many differences between history then and now.
Then, the politicians and po-po (Rangers) knew who they worked for, the people. Now-a-days, well,you tell me.
Also, then, the people were more independent. Today, tell me the percentage of working taxpayers vs the entitlement minded welfare queens.

After having to tolerate them in airports, I think it’s a safe bet that the TSA is at least twice as incompetent as the LAPD, and I think the same about DHS. If they’re turned loose on American Citizens, they’d better have plenty of bodybags for their personnel!
@14: The video in another thread brings me to the conclusion that they were using more than semi-automatic fire. You can hear burst fire in the video. I agree with your synopsis that they poured thousands of rounds into the cabin and surrounding area, with no success in accomplishing their purpose of incapacitating or killing their target and in the end, he took himself deep.
