Holocaust Denial: Not Just for Iran Any More

| February 1, 2013

Remember when the Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, caused an outcry by publicly denying the Holocaust a few years ago?  You know, when he claimed the Holocaust never happened?  And claimed to be proud of making that ridiculous statement?

Well, Ahmadinejad now has some help in spouting this ridiculous BS.  And it’s high-level help, as in a senior member of another Islamic nation’s government.

That company comes in the person of Fathi Shihab-Eddim, a senior official close to Egypt’s President Mohammed Morsi.  Shibab-Eddim was recently quoted as saying that the Holocaust was a hoax perpetrated by US intelligence agencies.  He further claims the 6 million Jews killed during the Holocaust simply moved to the US, and that the true number killed was about the same as the number who died in traffic accidents.

Seriously.  That’s really what Shibab-Eddim claimed.

Shihab-Eddim also happens to be the individual who appoints editors for Egypt’s state-run newspapers.  So I guess we won’t be seeing many accurate accounts of the Holocaust in Egyptian newspapers or media any time soon.

This should be no surprise, though.  The Muslim Brotherhood – with which both Morsi and Shibab-Eddim are affiliated – and other Islamist organizations have a long history of anti-Semitism.  In 2010, Morsi opined that Jews were “the descendants of apes and pigs”.  (Though Morsi claims these words were “taken out of context”, research indicates he’d made numerous similar statements before coming to power in Egypt.)  It’s only a small step from there to outright Holocaust denial.

And remember: these are the same folks to whom the current Administration is sending massive amounts of US aid – including 20 F16s and 200 M1 tanks.

Yeah, supporting those Arab Spring uprisings is really starting to look like a great idea, isn’t it?

The US didn’t even have “intelligence agencies” until after Pearl Harbor…

Hell, the Democratic Party platform barely recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. WH Press Secy Jay Carney either forgot or didn’t know the capital during a presser a few months ago. The amendment to add Jerusalem on to the Dem platform passed without a 2/3 delegate majority – far from it. You probably saw the awkward performance of LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa addressing the delegates at the 2012 DNC.

Pfft–Fake Holocaust is just the tip of the iceburg. Jews themselves are actually the real conspiracy. They were really invented just 150 years ago to cheese off the arabs. Insertion of their elaborate backstory into both history and religion was nearly flawlessly executed.

Are we living in those interesting times yet?

If my dates are accurate, the Holocaust started on Jan 30, 1933 and lasted until about May 8, 1945 (4481 days – but there’s no telling what date the killings actually stopped, as it varied from camp to camp). Based on approx 6 million Jewish murders a day for 4481 days equates to roughly 1339 murders per day (for 12 years, 3 months, 8 days).

American auto deaths from 1933 and into the first 5 months of 1945(found below) was 391,752 – a difference of 5,608,248. (Feel free to check my math – I haven’t had my coffee yet this AM).

I thought Egyptians were known to be pretty savvy at mathematics, given their history in the discovery of such things as the Rhind Mathematical Papyrus (Egyptian mathematics circa. 2000-1800 BC)?

I guess fuggin’ not.

Hondo – I didn’t fall for it, I was discrediting Shibab-Eddim’s claim, using actual numbers. Maybe I didn’t go about it so well.

I’ll go get my coffee now.

We have had a habit of sometimes arming “allies” who will be enemies eventually…one would hope we eventually learn to avoid such mistakes. Trusting any of these arab spring governments is a potentially large mistake. Trusting them with F16s and M1s even more so.

@7 and @8 Reading your comments I understood both intents, it’s moments like these a couple of beers and roomful of people with good conversation would make merry of all of the comments.

When my sister called me from O’Hare last March and told me she was on her way to Israel, I was a bit alarmed because things were a bit nasty, and I voiced my alarm. (No, I did not yell at her, just asked if she thought it was wise to go just then.) She said she had been waiting a very long time to take the trip, so I gave her a ‘bon voyage’ and asked her to send me pictures. She converted to Judaism when she got married in 1969. You have no idea what it’s like to listen to 43 years of why you separate your food and why you have two refrigerators, but she’s my sister, so I never ever teased her about it.

She sent me a few pictures of her trip — the ancient steps at the Temple mount, a Roman theater at Caesarea, the remains of the Roman capitol city destroyed in an earthquake in 749AD.

Now I’m glad she went.

How much history will be destroyed if a major war breaks out?

What does it take to put a stop to these nutballs?

As if there were not plenty of reasons to discount the intellectual honesty of any terrorist, this claim should stand alone as sufficient.

Denying reality pretty much defines delusional. Why are we giving arms to the insane?

Seeing as how Iran was created by the Nazi regime, I am really not surprised. Wow to how much things change in just a few hundred years.

I remember a time in my history class where the Christians thought the Jews were bad because they were helping the enemies of the Crusades. Heck, the entire Inquisition was about finding and “converting” the Jews to Christianity.

Then, throw in Nazi propaganda and reeducation into the Muslim world, and Jews are now bad to the Muslims. However, that same string of thought make them okay to the Christians again.

Kind of funny how the two newer religions are polar opposites about their view of the world with the oldest being tossed around between them.

@14 Hondo, Pfft, if Adam and Eve were Hindu, they’d be the oldest.

@11 Did she hit you with the shabbos toilet paper during those years? You should try 37 years of living it! My wife and I exist somewhere within the Orthodox/Conservative (conservadox) fold in terms of observance, and one of the things we’ve noted over the years is that converts are usually more enthusiastic about the “kitchen Judaism” rules than we would be. Mind you, we keep very good kosher, but nothing’s more obnoxious than turning *that* into the dividing line between us and the goyim.

Iran has even exported Holocaust denial to Argentina now. If it gains a toehold in Latin America, oy vey. You think about a guy like Chavez, may his name be blotted out, and his coziness with Iran, and that he has a major Jewish community in Venezuela. I have long feared that fragmented Jewish communities in Diaspora could be leveraged as hostages against Israel, and Hagelbama represent a direction in our government that would leave all these modern Leon Klinghoffers at the mercy of what capabilities Israel has to save them. A transatlantic Operation Moses seems like quite a stretch.

As far as the holy sites, they’ve survived so much already, through the collaborative efforts of Jew, Arab, and Christians. In the end, I worry that they’ll be all that’s left.

@15 – No, I did not get the TP tour, but I do get the “why I can’t answer the phone on Saturday” redux any time I call late in the week and leave a message that is “call me back when you get a chance”.

I fail to understand the mindset that says holocausts do not occur, when the two most recent were the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia under Pol Pot, and the Balkans under Milosevic. Saddam Hussein came close to it when he invaded Kuwait. Comparing these creatures to hyenas would be insulting to hyenas.

I may be getting ahead of myself in this, but there are three military airfields, not airports, in the vicinity of Isfahan. They show up quite clearly on aerial photos. I counted the number of gunship helicopters and troop transport helicopters at eaach one, all neatly lined up. The numbers of choppers are between 450 and 650 in each airfield. There are bunkers that look distinctly like ammo dumps around Isfahan. They just look like mounds of dirt with doors, but they are identical to Army ammo dumps between Springfield and Decatur, IL, near the Borden Chemical plant, which we used to pass on our way to go swimming over at Springfield in the 1950s. Given what I’ve seen, and other odd things in that country, I’d say Iran is gearing up for real warfare and just waiting for the moment to strike.

Also, there are parts of what used to be the Old Silk Road still in use now, mostly dirt roads through southwestern Central Asia, which Iran is using to transport oil to China.

@BK, it’s not the ins-and-outs of kosher rules that make me scratch my head about American Judaism. Every religion has its own observations that make sense to them, but not to outsiders.
What I don’t get, is after how the Obama administration spent four years thumbing their nose at Isreal, and trying to appease those who don’t recognize it’s right to exist(as demonstrated by the platform vote at the DNC that Devtun described)…Why after all that, did Obama still get 69% of the American Jewish vote?

DaveO

Given the number of blacks and women being murdered on a daily basis in Chicago, Rahm Emmanuel will be able to claim an inner-city holocaust by 2015.

NHSparky

DaveO–and keep in mind that the murder rate in Chicago is barely HALF of what it was 20 years ago.

Chew on that one.
