No “assault rifle” used in Newtown

| December 27, 2012

My mistake. The NBC link says it aired on Dec 15th, so it’s not really news.

NBC is reporting that police are admitting that initial reports that Adam Lanza used four of his mother’s handguns in the shooting and that the semi-automatic rifle was in the trunk of his mother’s car. They continue that he tried to buy a semi-automatic rifle and was deterred by the waiting period gun law.

So guns laws worked in deterring Lanza, but somehow we need more laws. Thanks to one of my ever-vigilant ninjas for the link.

I have heard this one a few times. Has it been verified with actual police documents?

Don’t think I’d take that to the bank quite yet.

Yeah but will the media vehmently follow this developing news story since he did not actually use an “assault rifle”. I highly doubt it but some how we need to ban guns. I hate that the media does not try to be accurate and just be first to make ratings, then when they are wrong you hear but a peep about it.

When I saw the initial news coverage of this (helicopter camera view)they were searching the trunk a black car parked close to the school. An officer pulled out what looked to be a AR framed rifle, dropped the mag and cleared the chamber of a round then placed it back in the trunk.

Was that today? What’s the date on that? I didn’t watch that show but are they still camped out at the school? Just seems old…?

I had to go elsewhere to view the MSNBC report on this. For whatever reason the one here didn’t reach the report but went to other news.

MSNBC reported that there were 4 handguns used, “according to officials,” and that the rifle was not in the school but in the trunk of Lanza’s car. The report also included information that Lanza had been at the school prior to the day of the shooting and had argued with staff.

The police either found an AR-15 in the school or they did not? What’s the issue here with “officials.” I don’t get it.

The next gun law should be that all reporters are required to pass a written exam on firearms, particularly in regards to the difference between an automatic weapon, a semi-automatic weapon, a bolt-action weapon and all of the applicable gun laws in the jurisdiction that the crime they are reporting in.

Pretty sure this is old. The ‘altercation’ turned out to be a dead end. This would also contradict all of the medical examiner reports which said all of the wounds were from .223 rounds.

@5. There was no date on the report but the reporter, if I heard him correctly, mentioned “On the 11th of this week.” Thus, I would guess that the report was an early one that screwed things all kinds of up. I don’t think there’s news here.

Yeah, I’m sure of it now. This is a rotten fish. Don’t eat it.

That video is prior to the Police Brifing the following day of the shooting that cleqared up much of the absolute horrid reporting being done by NBC and all others. In that briefing they clearly state that only two handguns and one .223 Caliber AR 15 were used i nthe murders.
I do not know what is to be gained by those trying to deny now that a Bushmaster was used. Everytime I see the claim it is using the crap reporting from the first day and leading up to the briefings by police where they cleared the air.
Let’s not forget in that first day the media also blamed the worng person for the shooting, aired his Identity and facebook page…
First time I saw this crop up was from a site that also is into the whole area 51 and contrail conspiracies as well.

It’s the national media, folks. Don’t believe it.

Remember the media’s (and WH) spin on Benghazi? That was over 3 months ago, and everyone is still trying to figure out what happened there.

Amazing how the US press ignores the Chinese School Stabbing that happended at the same time:

http://www.policymic.com/articles/21026/as-tragic-school-stabbing-shows-china-is-wrong-to-criticize-the-u-s-on-gun-rights

That mofo stabbed 22 kids. It ain’t about the guns. Crazy f*cking people will do crazy sh*t with anything they can get their hands on.

CI

It doesn’t matter to the media either way. The Bushmaster is their new “AK-47”.

bman

I heart my M-4 Bushmaster. Stays on target like nothing I’ve ever shot.

cannoncocker

Was there, or was there not an AR rifle found inside the school? Was there, or was there not .223 brass found inside the school? These are not hard questions to get right people….

PavePusher

cc, don’t tell us, tell the police and the media.

Rule #1 applies here just as it does in any other crime: anything which is used as a weapon during an assault is an “assault weapon.” Doesn’t matter if it otherwise looks like, and functions as, a baseball bat, an automobile, or a ball pean hammer.

Osaka school district, 2001. A janitor goes bat-shit and kills or injures 23 people. With a blade, not an axe, not a katana…a kitchen knife.

I guess it must have been a semi-automatic, fully assault kitchen knife.

David

The big response I hear to the stabbings is “none of them were killed, just injured. If he had had a gun they would be dead”. Guess they ignore that Lanza shot many of those kids multiple times, or that multiple stab wounds are a serious life-threatener generally.
