Teen defends home with *gasp* “assault rifle”
Hack Stone sends this video from Houston about a 15-year-old who defended his home and his 12-year-old sister from home invaders with his father’s AR15 rifle, what some people would call an assault rifle. The news team called his father a “constable”;
I guess it happened a week or so ago. Apparently it got buried in some other things that were on the media’s mind.
Oh, the home invaders fled scene, trailing bodily fluids which led to their arrest.
Yep, no one needs a large capacity magazine for hunting.

Imagine how much less wounded those scumbags would have been without the pistol grip on that AR. I’m surprised they didn’t see the flash suppressor and run for their miserable lives.
Sorry that he had to use it but sounds like he handled self well.
I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the dad will be charged for leaving a weapon accessible to a minor!
Watch the video titled “Australians Protest Gun Ban” after the Texas news video is finished. Words to the wise in it.
Australian crime rates with guns have risen this much since the Australian ban:
Armed robbery up 69%
Assaults with guns up 25%
Gun murders up 19%
Home invasionsa up 21%
The Australian government spent $500 million to enforce the ban, seems to have NOT compensated gun owners but forced them to turn in their ‘illegal’ guns to be destroyed. The first thing that came to mind when I watched the Australian video, right after the Texas video, was the Mad Max movies.
Yes, the sheriff’s deputies in Texas are called constables. In the collar counties in Illinois, they’re called sheriff’s police.
I found this earlier about the Aussie gun exchange:
Before the new laws/ban/buyback began, estimates of the number of firearms in Australia were around 3.5 to 4 million, based on who-knows-what information available to police officials (like numbers of registered guns). The “gun lobby” estimated much higher, and had estimates from importers, etc. of hundreds of thousands each just for some individual types of firearms (like SKS variants, military surplus and Ruger 10/22s). It is apparent that the stock of firearms was much higher than authorities thought.
At the end of the buyback (31 Aug 98), Australia had paid $320M (Australian) for 643,726 firearms—only about 1/3 of the 1.5 million authorities expected to collect of their estimated 3.5 million total stock of firearms (which was only a small part of the actual stock). Don’t forget the additional administrative costs of running the program. There were also some reported irregularities—like officials being cooperative in identifying firearms as prohibited ones when they weren’t, and police departments selling their old firearms even multiple times.

Lot of money for limited return…
Don’t interfere with anything in the Constitution. That must be maintained, for it is the only safeguard of our liberties. And not to Democrats alone do I make this appeal, but to all who love these great and true principles.

The best way to get a bad law repealed is to enforce it strictly.” – Abraham Lincoln
When I train civilians on firearms these days…I explain that most of the time when a citizen is going to be attacked, there’s going to be more than one suspect.
If you see 2, expect 3. If you see 3, expect 4, etc, etc. You don’t have to shoot them all—you just have to get them to shit their pants in fear first!
The one who didn’t leak any body fluids in the attack wins!
When we stared putting M4’s in our patrol cars in the late 90’s (most of us had bought our own) I NEVER had to fire it when I took it out because the bad guys freaked out and gave up without a shot being fired.
If you’re going to a gun fight, bring a long gun…and friends with long guns.

Actually, Texas Constables are a separate function of county law enforcement (Justice of Peace courts)with a majority of constables and deputies serve warrants or processes (civil/criminal)and are empowered by the Texas Constitution to enforce the same laws city police, sheriffs and deputies do.
I think I saw this piece several years ago. The father/son crew in this might be the same crew that were responsible for a rash of break-in’s that were going on in N/W Houston.
This was just on the news: the Arizona state’s attorney wants to have all school prinicpals armed as a defense against the kind of attacks that happened at Columbine and Newtown.
@7 Yup, there’s a lot to be said for that psychological intimidation. When I was a cop, I preferred the shotgun, though. Racking that slide REALLY got people’s attention!
[…] A 15-year-old boy, protecting his 12-year-old sister from two home invaders with an, wait for it, assault rifle? Gee, I wonder what smart-assed comments David Frum would make about this […]
@11 Yep. I will never forgot what a friend of mine (a retired police officer) told me about the shotgun. He said if you ever had to use a shotgun, “be prepared to make a mess.”
I’ve never forgotten that advice–or the mental image.

I’m glad that the teen was able to be safe and successfully defend his property!
@Ex-PH2
hey, can you point me to where you found that data about about australian crime rates?
thanks

Good on dad for probably teaching this kid how to shoot, and when to shoot.
To the kid for protecting his sister and himself.
Give him a medal, and free counseling (I know that causing violence can be hard for a grown man to handle.)
Here is some more ammo (so to speak) for y’all…
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/5712573/UK-is-violent-crime-capital-of-Europe.html
It means there are over 2,000 crimes recorded per 100,000 population in the UK, making it the most violent place in Europe.
Austria is second, with a rate of 1,677 per 100,000 people, followed by Sweden, Belgium, Finland and Holland.
By comparison, America has an estimated rate of 466 violent crimes per 100,000 population.
France recorded 324,765 violent crimes in 2007 – a 67 per cent increase in the past decade – at a rate of 504 per 100,000 population.

In other words, our over all violent crime rate is better than Britian, Austria, & France.
Talking about only gun violence is the false narrative of the left. So far, none of the usual suspects has come up with a counter to this one.
