More California National Guard troops sent to help fight Los Angeles fires

Nicholas Slayton

More troops from the California National Guard have been mobilized to help the fight against multiple fires in Los Angeles County. Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Saturday afternoon that the state was doubling the amount of National Guard personnel deployed, with 1,680 California National Guardsmen now active in the Los Angeles area.

The move comes as the deadly wildfires continue for the fifth day. The Palisades and Eaton fires, around the Pacific Palisades and Altadena neighborhoods, have destroyed more than 36,000 acres and killed at least 11 people, according to the county coroner’s office. Several smaller fires continue to burn as well, with limited containment. Tens of thousands have been forced to evacuate since fires started on Tuesday, Jan. 7. The fires rapidly spread due to extreme dry conditions and strong Santa Ana winds, with gusts as high as 100 mph pushing embers and sparks.

More than 600 California National Guardsmen were already deployed to the Los Angeles area since Thursday. With the new deployments, more than 1,000 troops from the Military Police Forces are on the ground helping local police and firefighters with traffic coordination around evacuation zones and law enforcement.

“We are continuing to rush in resources to rapidly respond to the firestorm in Los Angeles fueled by hurricane-force winds,” Newsom said in a statement.

Task&Purpose

The original 600 Guardsmen deployed by Newsom to assist firefighters and LEOs included 10 rotary-wing aircraft, two C-130s, 10 ground crews to help firefighters, as well as military police. These numbers were both insufficient and late to adequately react to the disaster. The Guard will of course strive make the best of an impossible situation. That they are needed so desperately is a topic for another article.

Governor Newsom can open his windows and enjoy the smell of California going up in flames, much like Governor Tim Walz and his spouse did during the mostly peaceful George Floyd protests.

Old tanker

It is my sincere hope that as he enjoys the smell of the smoke he also enjoys the odor of his political career going up in flames as well.

Someone out there will defend that prick with their last wheezing breath.

Maybe if he’d spent less time putting his pen in reporter stink and eating out (tehehehe) at laundries, his cultists wouldn’t be suffering his special brand of… stupid? malfeasance? planned destruction?

How many times do the people hafta be shown The They are agents of chaos and nothing more (note: not a question mark —>).

Prepare, or die.

Too little…too late. Guess that ol’ hair gel had to make sure the Guard was up to date on their DEI Training before he could order the deployment.

“…extreme dry conditions…strong Santa Ana winds…” Welp, all of that may have been SOME of the causes of the “rapid spread” but that spread could have been contained by having water in the lines when TOW and his buds showed up.

One more thing that’s Trump’s fault.

Carlos Santana will be performing in Highland CA in April.
Good timing for a benefit concert.

If it was ’71 I’d think about going (his/their best song IMHO) :

In related news, Newscum posted on X a way to donate money to charities for firefighters and victims of this disaster. Problem is, the link he posted takes you to the d-rats PAC and fundraising platform, ActBlue. Now why would Gavin want you to donate through ActBlue to get money to the charities instead of just sharing the direct link to their websites? Answer: to skim a little off the top for them and their political campaigns. They say that they won’t, but I don’t buy it. Neither does X community notes.

Hope the California Guardsmen stay safe.

1 for you, 2 for me.

It also contains the actual links to the actual charities (minus ActBlue), if anyone is inclined.

The only thing I’m donating to the failed state of Crazifornia and failing feddotgov mechanisms is two scoops of detached indifference.

It can all burn down to-morrow and us survivors will fold the ashes into our potato beds.

Fugg’um. All’m.

“They say that they won’t,…”

But it’s only fair that they get a small (YMMV) amount for administration and processing.

Prior Service (Ret)

Defense Support to Civil Authority (DSCA) is fundamental. There should be active duty infantry battalions reporting to CA to dig fire lines and fire breaks. (Correction, there should already have been.)

The process is simple. CA designates it as a disaster, gets federal concurrence, and requests DOD support. Then DOD sources what is necessary to fill the requests. This is another abject failure by CA.

My most fervent prayer is that all those burned out Californians don’t relocate to any of the free states.

At least our boy Dick Hy is reaping some lolz from this. Please do enjoy (if reposted not sorry).

“You want to see somebody that responds to your house that looks like you”.

Nay, nay, I say. I am a fat, arthritic, old man with a bad heart. If that somebody who looks like me shows up to fight a fire, he better bring his own ambulance, because I will be using the local VFD’s ambulance.

It’s all good.

FEMA will soon distribute pre-paid debit cards worth $750, and everyone will be made whole again.
