US buys F-16s for Egypt
Jerry920 sends a link to Fox News which recounts the story of the US buying twenty F1-6 jets for the Muslim Brotherhood…er…Egypt which will be delivered in the new year;
The U.S. government ordered and paid for the fighter jets for Egypt’s military as part of foreign aid for Egypt back in 2010, when Hosni Mubarak ruled. The fighter jets were supposed to be delivered in 2013, and delivery will go ahead as scheduled even though Hosni Mubarak has been removed from power and replaced by Mohamed Morsi, who led the Muslim Brotherhood before becoming Egypt’s president.
Well, that makes perfect sense to me. Riots in the streets, Hamas getting their resupplies from Iran through Egypt and now we’re going to give them 20 jets. At a cost of about a billion bucks. Maybe we can give marksmanship training to the Taliban, too.

The only good thing about this is the fact that their pilots suck and if our maintainers leave the country, the jets will be unable to fly in a relatively short period of time.
This has nothing to do with Egypt. Military ‘gifts’ like this are basically a form of corporate welfare to the defense industry. Think about it, General Dynamics gets X billion $$ of taxpayer cash, Egypt gets some sweet jets, and the only people who get screwed over are us, the taxpayers who paid for those jets.
Yeah, but you guys forget that those are very touchy instruments. If you don’t know how to fly, you WILL crash and burn. They aren’t Toyota pickup trucks.
I hear someone’s got a few extra F-16 engines that might have fallen off the back of an Israeli truck as well.
How else is Iran going to get the parts for the ones we sold them just before the Shah fell. It did save lots of job for some Senators distric though, so it is okay. Do not fear the professional politicians know what they are doing.

Remember when congress supposedly threatened to limit aid to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt when they were “elected”? It took them a whole 5 minutes before they gave up on that idea. At this point we are actively arming and funding our enemies directly and nobody cares anymore. If you don’t you’re a racist. That is what our country has become.
Go check out how we are training the Iranian terrorists called Mujahedin-e Khalq on American soil as though that won’t backfire horribly in the future or for that matter already.

@13 – I think the MEK is off the State Department’s radar now that it has been “de-listed” as a terrorist organization. Sadly, their memories don’t serve them very well as I recall the MEK was involved in the 1979 uprising in Iran and other atrocities.
