The reaction in Afghanistan

| November 7, 2012

Stars & Stripes‘ Heather Druzin reports on the reaction in Afghanistan to the news that President Obama was reelected. Oddly enough, there’s no reaction fro the troops, because Druzin writes, the media was not allowed “access to deployed troops as they watched returns come in” for some odd reason. But, the reaction from Afghans is similar to the reaction of Americans;

“He should try to focus more on bringing security to our country,” said Abdul Wahid Kareem, a 35-year-old dress shop owner in Kabul. “We can’t do anything on our own for security.”

Two big issues Afghans would like to see the president tackle in his second term are development and a peace deal with the Taliban.

Hedayatullah Ahmadi, owner of a refrigerator repair shop, said Obama needs to focus on building factories and creating job opportunities for Afghans.

“If he fulfills the promises he made to Afghans, then it would be great,” he said. “He said he will bring peace to Afghanistan by 2014.”

Yeah, he can’t bring jobs for Americans, what makes you think you have a chance here, Hedayatullah. And he couldn’t bring himself to protect a little consulate in Benghazi, but you think he can provide security for your whole shit hole country? And you should go and make a tenable peace deal with the Taliban and see how long you can keep your head.

Fuck them. Why should we keep protecting their asses when they hate us.

Ex-PH2

Building factories? In Afghanistan?

Oh, now I get it! They want us to stop sending jobs to China and send them to Afghanistan instead.

I had no idea the Afghans were so jealous.

NHSparky

I didn’t realize they made goat raping factories.

Whitey_wingnut

@Ex-PH2 Hahaha, well they’ll make anything for whatever amount of money you have in your wallet. I did get some very nice three and two piece suits for cheap while I was deployed there.

Ex-PH2

@White, yes, I’ve heard they can duplicate anything, including rifles and semi-automatic weapons, part-for-part. Maybe they could get DoD contracts for that.

Send them “Fat Man” and ‘Big Boy”. They will turn their country into a glass factory.

I just want to thank all of you for your service and what you’ve done to keep this country free and great.

I’m just really sorry that it’s all been pissed away and all that work appears to be for naught.

Welcome to the future United Socialist States of America. A voting majority of Americans hate America and proved that last night.

Sorry…..

Whitey_wingnut

@Ex-PH2 Yep, give them a picture and you’ll get a custom fitted suit, jacket whatever your mind can think of. As far as the weapons, some are duplicates others “fell off the truck”.

Obama gives a shit less about Afghanistan, evicenced by the lack of any leadership there beyond his “Drone” war which is all Biden anyhow. He will push to pull out by his deadline regardless of conditions on the ground.

I meant “Little Boy” but send them a big one!

Pentagon is full of pussies that are so afraid of the press. Bet the troops pick up on that.

DaveO

My main concern is that he doesn’t surrender our forces in Afghanistan to the Taliban, as a show of ‘good faith.’

Athena

–SIGH– I am SO depressed over this election. This article reminds me that Afghans are as lost to reality as %50 of our electorate are.

B Woodman

Time to finalize preps and “Go Galt”.

My observations may be colored by my own seething rage, but I would say reaction among the troops is subdued. I was in the gym during the 0nes victory speech and at chow during the talking heads analysis. No one cheered, there were some angry mutterings. Mostly the joes just went on about their business.

SFC Holland

Heart breaking. My unit was very split, but it is CS, and has a more varied mix, all demographics well represented. I would say it was around 50/50, and was pretty ugly. Half celebrating, half sullen. Not the way I wanted it to go, but I voted at least. Didn’t talk to another soldier that did here. We’ll see how this plays out. I did read and do agree with the statement that the people at large were baffled by bullshit, by abortion, binders, big-bird, etc. and people are so focused on the stuff that does not matter that they forgot about what does. When that 16 trillion dollar tab is called, you won’t care who’s gay and straight, you’ll care about paying your rent. The economy is all that matters. Dope smoking does not. I don’t think either party is ready to face that yet. Not a good day.

There was no joy in my unit……..I had to turn to ESPN as quickly as possible…..it was great to watch Obama get elected and the country commit suicide. Free shit for everybody.

MCPO USN NYC (Ret.)

I am moving to North Korea. At least there, I will know exactly what is going to happen to me and when!

Ex-PH2

MCPO, a potentially habitable planet HD 40307g, a mere 42 light years away, has been found, close enough to possibly photograph it. It’s in the Goldilocks zone which allows for the existence of liquid water. There are 3 other planets occupying inner orbits around the same star, but too close to have liquid water.

I’d rather move there.

Been a while since I last posted on here…

I say Piss on these fucks…How about they all band together and fix the country themselves?! When America started out, we didn’t demand that anyone else give us SHIT!
