Roseanne Barr says you’re “on the dole” (UPDATE)
I don’t usually care what the Hollywood crowd thinks politically, either way, which is why I never mention Ted Nugent or any of the others. But I guess Roseanne Barr didn’t get the word from Michelle Obama that the Left is supposed to be nice to military families. I got the link to Twitchy on Facebook from Michelle Malkin.
The Twitchy link tells the story of Barr going off on how we’re all racist because we don’t support Obama, and how if we aren’t really racist, we’d legalize pot. Yeah, I don’t get that one either.
But eventually, a Navy wife gets under her skin, and Barr goes off on something about how all of us in the military and our families are “on the dole”;
i knew you were on the dole-as are all ppl who think like u! living off tax $ forever.
Yeah, I’d like to see her summon the intestinal fortitude to say that to someone who isn’t working for their “tax $ forever”.
I just thought that it was interesting that she let the veil slip for a second. I’d been hoping that she was in that stupid-ass “Got your 6” campaign ad, but she wasn’t. But she should be out of work soon, if she’s not already. From the Got Your 6 website;
All of the major entertainment studios, broadcast and cable networks, talent agencies, and guilds are uniting to launch this unprecedented awareness campaign aimed at changing the conversation in our country with regards to veterans and military families.
I guess “changing the conversation” hasn’t reached the ears of this Twinkie-gobbling asshole.
UPDATE: In case you missed it, Mr. Hanson had Twitterly intercourse with she of porcine heritage.

Dear Roseanne,
How’s that Green Party nomination shit going, hon? I dare say that my blood, sweat, and toil over the course of half my adult existence more than pays for the “dole” from which you languished for so many years before someone in a drug-induced haze thought you were semi-funny.
And those skills I learned while I was “on the dole” and serving my nation paid off in spades after I “left the dole” and earned far more than most of my peers with whom I attended high school and college, and my reward for said success is paying 40 percent of my salary to those “on the dole” in the form of federal and state taxes.
Yes, some of those taxes are well spent. Other parts of my tax dollars, not so much.
And oh yeah–eat a fat bag of dicks. Too bad that swinging log in the Snickers commerical wasn’t fucking real.
Does anyone really give a flying rat’s fuck what that rancid, oozing old cunt thinks? She’s just trying to claw her way out of irrelevance.
*shrug*
National Anthem Rosie? Oh wait a minute……
That’s right Rosanne, those of us who want less handouts are actually living off of them…..wait, that just doesn’t sound right….damn ADD
Fuck this twatwaffle. The only reason she even gets any coverage at all is because every time she opens her suck ignorant bullshit spills out of it.
She’s nothing more than a cur dog. Not even worth the effort.
She married Tom Arnold — and he was the smarter of the two.
Enough said.
Ugh…I’m fucking pissed now. Stupid old hag!

@8: LOL, nice one!
There is one tiny bit of that with which I actually **cough, cough, gag** agree with the trashy blimp. Of course, that tiny bit is quickly overshadowed by the rest of her opinion, which is, of course, complete lunacy.
Was brought up in a family that believed that anyone receiving public funds was “on the dole.” Of course, we also saw a HUGE, inescapable distinction between those who earned their portion of the dole vs those who were simply parasites to the goodness of their fellow citizens.
Was also taught that there was great responsibility with the public service side of being on the dole simply because the funds were coming from persons across the spectrum of society. While those producing a product in the private sector owe their employer 100% for their pay, I was taught that if I worked on behalf of everyone that I owed them 110% every day.
Oh, well. Unfortunately, that ethos seems to have fallen from favor. It was quite common when I was a pup.
Kinda reminds me of Howard Metzenbaum talking about John Glenn in 1974. Glen’s response then is still apropos.

@10 OWB, my only nitpick from what you said is this: if a person is working for the money they get, whether it comes from taxes or not, it’s not a “dole.” If they earned it, it’s income. A true dole is a handout.
The work ethos you mentioned does still exist, it’s just harder to find.
Have to agree with PintoNag on this, OWB. The accepted definitions for the term “dole” (n) all appear to refer to charity or government welfare given to the unemployed. Salaries and pensions (which are a form of earned deferred compensation) are neither charity or welfare. They’re earned, whether from public or private sources.
I am real curious. Anybody have any statistics on how many veterans actually receive retirement or disability pay for life versus the number of folks who actually enter service? There seems to be this big perception that everybody who serves automatically gets taken care of for life. I dare say only about 1 – 2% of the veteran population is actually receiving some sort of gov’t check for life.
You all know that anyone who says the military and any of their dependents are on the dole doesn’t know her flabby fat ass from a hole in the ground.
Jonn said: I don’t usually care what the Hollywood crowd thinks politically
Can’t say I much care what those folks think (about anything) either, but sometimes they are unintentionally funny as hell. Kinda like those “reality shows” where some poor goober does a face plant on the asphalt. Painful to watch, but…
Consider the source.
In the past Roseanne has expressed a desire to replace capitalism (it was part of a long list of stupid in an article she wrote for a fairly well-known publication, mostly about what a martyr she sees herself as, but which actually revealed what a shrew she is to work with, made me feel sorry for Chuck Lorre-lefty gasbag that he is) with some sort of idealized Euro-socialism, so I can’t see what objection she would have to anyone being “on the dole”.
Oh, but lefties only ever adopt a political position insofar as it advances their own interests and never out of any actual principle, so I shouldn’t really be surprised. Roseanne was elevated to some sort of ironic “feminist icon” when her show was on TV, and now we will have to suffer her bloviations for the rest of her life. The woman is trash, no amount of money can disguise it and she occasionally lets the mask slip.
Oh, I understand, and cannot entirely disagree, with what either of you is saying, PN and Hondo. Part of that is generational, perhaps some of it regional as well.
I was raised up among some very hard-core folks who saw FDR and all his programs as the ruination of the country, most notably social security. They saw the issuance of SSAN’s as the end of all our freedoms. I expect, now that children are being issued those numbers, that they are spinning in their graves saying,”See, we told you so.”
During that time, everyone who was in “public service” was pretty much looked down upon. The military, not quite so much, but still a bit less than “producers.” My own father refused to accept retired military medical care after he retired, only doing so for his wife when her personal physician convinced him that she could get much better care for her specific needs at the nearest military base than he could give her.
My father’s perspective was that he had earned his retirement pay, but that the citizens certainly did not owe him anything else. When he entered service before social security and all the rest, there was no implied medical deal attached to his military service.
Times have certainly changed. What my father called welfare is now seen as an earned benefit. It’s been interesting to watch that transformation within society. The progressives have won by sucking more and more Americans into that mind set.
Just A Grunt: The number is quite a bit higher than 1-2%.
As of 30 Sep 2011, there were 2,051,939 living military retirees; of these, 1,932,928 were receiving retired pay (the remainder are “grey area” retirees, are receiving VA compensation that exceeds their military retired pay, or have waived/are otherwise barred by law from receiving their retired pay). Additionally, 327,184 are receiving benefits under the SBP after the death of their retired spouses.
http://actuary.defense.gov/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=1TvUgDUEDGo%3d&tabid=1794
Per the VA, as of 30 Sep 2011 there were approx 22,234,000 veterans (presumably they’re only talking about those still living). Of these living veterans, on 31 Mar 2012 3,422,674 were receiving VA compensation. An additional 301,892 were receiving VA pension; 338,176 spouses were receiving DIC compensation; and 293,384 were receiving Individual Unemployability (IU) benefits. Close to 1,000,000 were receiving VA educational or Voc-Rehab benefits. (Over 1/2 million were receiving benefits based on PTSD, but I’m pretty sure those are included in the compensation numbers.)
http://www.veteranprograms.com/id1261.html
Bottom line: a bit over 9% of living veterans are retirees, while about 18% of all living vets appear to receive VA disability compensation, VA pension, or IU benefits. At least 397,220 are receiving either dual compensation (50+% VA rating) or CRSC (10%+ combat rated). Not sure how many others receive both (mil pay partially offset to allow receipt of VA compensation at 40% or less).
I will also emphasize that military retirement pay is deferred compensation, not any kind of “dole”/welfare/charity; it was earned through service. The same is IMO true of VA compensation (for those validly receiving same) – except that was earned by blood and/or injury vice service.
Just another unintelligent fat ass who things they are smart because some nit wit decided to give them buckets of money. They want the attention and I refuse to give it to them. Her moore, behar, whoopi, walters and my all time favorite fonda can all croak for all I care. Take denzel, sharpton, jackson and the rest of the so caled elite straight to hell!
Denzel? As in Denzel Washington? Guy has been a very giving supporter of the troops who doesn’t talk politics and doesn’t toot his own horn for publicity.
I’d put him on the Gary Sinese level of pro-troop Hollywood types.
Believe it or not, there are in fact some inside the entertainment industry who do support the military but who do it out of love for country and not for self-promotion.
If her pig-eyed-bitch molars were on fire, I wouldn’t piss in her mouth. Her disrespect of our National Anthem and baseball pushed me over the edge. Her retarded “reality” show was a bust. She came across as a total whack job, and she keeps proving that very point. She hasn’t done anything credible in how many years? She’s fallen to the depths of being a “shock jock”, making asinine statements to try to prove her indefensible points.
Fatty’s 15 minutes were up a LONG time ago. The number of people who care what she thinks will comfortably fit in a phone booth (which kind of like Fatty’s popularity don’t much exist anymore).
So when I was doing things that most refused to do, and now receive a paycheck for the sacrifice… I’m on the dole? So the guy who hung out on the streets, drinking the Bull, who quit/fired from his job, or the mamma who has four kids before she is 23, and is (has been) unemployed and living in the projects… I’m in their category? Get real!
To be fair, she is rather intelligent. Just ask her, she will tell you. When she was running for the Green Party seat in the upcoming presidential election, she said she would legalize marijuana and outlaw war. I am still trying to figure how she could outlaw war. If some country started a war, would she attack them to stop the war? It’s a conundrum.
So would she admit that by her standard Barack Obama and his family are on the dole? Would she also concede that as the Green Party candidate for president she is willing to spend other peoples’ money to get elected to be on the dole?
Yeah, I didn’t think so either.
So Roseanne is saying that the Obama family is on the dole?
Racist.
Roseanne is saying that she can’t complete a thought before opening her mouth.
