Bondi Update

| December 16, 2025

A few items have come to light Down Under after the Bondi Beach shooting.

The father and son shooters are said to be Pakistani immigrants (which would make them Muslim immigrants.)

Police say that the two shooters involved were a father and son aged 50 and 24. They have been named by local media as Sajid Akram and son Naveed Akram.  BBC

The heroic bystander, Ahmed al Ahmed who disarmed the younger of the two father and son shooters is a former Syrian security guy who emigrated to Australia some years back. The injury  info on him is conflicted, some saying he was shot once, some saying he was hit multiple times. A GoFund me for him has already surpassed a million dollars, led by a donation  of  $65,000 from William Ackman, CEO of  Pershing Square Capital Management. It should be noted for those who wanted to “ban all Muslim immigrants” that Mr. Ahmed IS a Muslim immigrant.

Fast observation – Mr. Ahmed chose well in taking on an armed opponent who was using a long gun. Despite the shooter attempting to swing the gun around to get his attacker, he was unable to – had Akram been using a more easily maneuvered handgun, Mr. Ahmed would have possibly been in more jeopardy.

There have been repeated warnings from the Australian Jewish committee that the rise in anti-Semitism there was going to lead to escalation and possibly a fatal incident. From a senior member of the community, Dionne Taylor:

“We have been completely let down by our government,” Taylor, the communications manager of the Australia/Israel Jewish Affairs Council, told Fox News Digital in a Zoom interview. “We warned them that this snowball effect was going to happen, and it was only a matter of time before someone got killed.”

“It started with hate speech,” she said. “Then graffiti. Then public demonstrations. Then firebombing synagogues, preschools, people’s homes, people’s cars. And now murder.”  Fox News

Might think about that when someone tries to excuse problematic pro-Palestinian behavior as “it’s just XXX” or “they really aren’t harming anyone – yet.”

And, as expected, the Australian government is blaming the guns for the shooting, not the people who did it.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Monday proposed tougher national gun laws after a mass shooting targeted a Hanukkah celebration on Sydney’s Bondi Beach, leaving at least 15 people dead.

Albanese said he would propose new restrictions, including limiting the number of guns a licensed owner can obtain. His proposals were announced after the authorities revealed that the older of the two gunmen — who were a father and son — had held a gun license for a decade and amassed his six guns legally.

Think our takeaway from that is that tightened gun laws don’t work? Per the New South Wales Premier, Christopher Minns:

“It means introducing a bill to Parliament to — I mean to be really blunt — make it more difficult to get these horrifying weapons that have no practical use in our community,” Minns told repoters.

“If you’re not a farmer, you’re not involved in agriculture, why do you need these massive weapons that put the public in danger and make life dangerous and difficult for New South Wales Police?” Minns asked.

The particular gun license he (Akram – ed.)  held entitled an adult with a “genuine reason” to own a rifle or shotgun. Accepted reasons include target shooting, recreational hunting and vermin control, but self-defense is not an accepted reason.   KMBC9 News (ABC)

Australia’s gun crime rate is often compared to the US’ since it enacted a sweeping ban on many guns back in the ’90s, although most comparisons omit that the total population of Australia is about as high as only the Southern California population. Oh, and the list of valid reasons to own a gun there does NOT include self-defense.

How about jihadist control?

But…but….but….that would be RAYCISSSSSS!!!
(Since when did Islam, a political entity dressed in religion, become a “race”?)

How about Zyklon B insectiside…

SFC D

I just don’t see any humor in a “Zyklon B” reference.

I take back the comment SFC D, it was a little to heavy….

And the po-po didn’t help, supposedly cowering for (20 minutes? really!?) behind cars and barricades before finally deciding to shoot the shooter.
Shades of Parkland, FL, and the Broward County cowards.
Stick a fork in it, the urban centers of Oz are done.
The rural and outback? I’m withholding judgement for now.

While you are withholding judgement –
https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/four-heroes-tried-to-stop-the-bondi-terrorists-three-paid-with-their-lives-20251216-p5no4d.html

“Two police, Constable Scott Dyson and Probationary Constable Jack Hibbert, were seriously injured in the shooting and remain in hospital. Images from Bondi on Sunday night show the windscreen of a police car riddled with bullet holes.

Ian Allwood, acting president of the NSW Police Association, said Dyson, 25, remained in intensive care.

“Scott has significant injuries and complex injuries,” Allwood said. “He’s still in intensive care and will be for some time. There will be further surgeries that he will need. His rehab is going to be complex and long. He’s been seriously injured by a couple of gunshot wounds.”

No mention of Hibbert or Dyson by US media sources of any flavor. If they had been two National Guardsmen, NYT would lead with it and blame Trump.

Shades of Sandy Hook lies and extremely dishonoring to those who officers murdered in the attack trying to save others. Please feel free to be ashamed for repeating such easily disprovable lies if you feel such things.

There is a video out there of the entire shooting from the time the shooters set up on the walk bridge and began shooting until they were engaged by the police and one was killed. The first shooter was down within five minutes. You can see rounds impacting around the shooters before that time as they duck, cover and return fire.

I believe regular patrol officers in that area are only armed with pistols so they have my sympathy with being outgunned.

Others also actively resisted as well. This man paid with his life trying to stop one of the shooters by throwing bricks at one of them. In this video:

That one had to resort to bricks to stop this horror is it’s own kind of horror.

My apologies to all the heroes out there, of any and all stripes.
I could say that I was misled by early propaganda reports, but I should know better by now to wait for further and more accurate information.

Admitting that a person has the right to self-defense is undermining the power of the government to control its people. We Americans like to tout the Second Amendment as a guarantor against tyranny, but let’s look beyond that. By exempting self-defense from the list of valid reasons to own a firearm, the Australian government effectively forces its citizenry to rely on it for protection.

Someone here commented about Mr.Ahmed possibly facing serious charges if he’d have used the shotgun he took from the attacker. Sadly, that seems to be the expectation from overreaching governments, even Stateside. How many times have we heard of a legally armed person being charged for using their weapon in self-defense in a state like California or Illinois?

I can target shoot, hunt birds, and take out rodents around my homestead, but the second Metthew and his “boys” come around to steal catalytic converters and break into my daughter’s room, I have to retreat and wait for police to arrive? No thanks. Glad I live in a reasonable state.

“Glad I live in a reasonable state”

I was glad to live in Maine until the recent “red flag” law was
enacted by the Communists that have taken over.
Surrounded to the south by NH and MA, to the west by NH,
VT and NY leaves me Canader to the north and the Atlantic
ocean to the east.

Maine has always been a little wishy-washy. Once the Biden administration began their project to change the demographics by importing illegal immigrants the writing was on the wall. It is crazy how much has changed there so fast.

26Limabeans

Ah yes, the taking over of Lewiston by installing
a massive influx of Somalis.
And now Janet Mills declaring Maine will not
cooperate with ICE.

Not a Lawyer

Tens of thousands.

Be sure to donate to their food relief program, it’s for the children.

A Proud Infidel®️™️

Especially in the locales infested with Somalis put there by rich Northeastern “pinky-finger -in-the-air”blueblood liberals in the name of “diversity”.

Not a Lawyer

You guys could try to ship them to Martha’s Vineyard but they would just ship them back.

NHSparky

It was Mass-lite ever since I moved to NH 20 years ago. Even then, Somalis were taking over big chunks of the state in places like Lewiston, etc.

At least the Massholes spent good money at the NH Liquor stores on the way up to their vacation homes in Maine.

SFC D

Since he’d disarmed the shooter, the defense would claim that the threat had been neutralized and shooting the perpetrator was now murder, not self defense.

Not a Lawyer

I can’t help but think you are right. This couple was murdered after the husband disarmed one of the shooters who then grabbed another gun and killed them both.

https://www.foxnews.com/world/bystanders-seen-confronting-australian-gunman-during-isis-inspired-deadly-rampage

He should have killed the shooter and taken his chances in court.

There is also the problem that some face with taking a life. Not everyone can do that, even under threat of death.

Grunt

Don’t forget unlicensed possession of a firearm. *eyeroll*

Toxic Deplorable B Woodman

I still say Mr Ahmed is a putz.
If he couldn’t shoot the shooter (gun jammed, gun empty, didn’t know how to operate, whatever) he could have at least used the gun as a club and whacked the shooter unconscious. One or two upside the head would have worked.

Slow Joe

People fight the way they train. If he never trained how to fight, the way he would react to that situation was left to a roll of the dice.

26Limabeans

Of all the moves taught in Basic, the butt stroke was my
favorite if ever needed. Hope I never have to perform it.

Hate_me

When is the last time you practiced a butt stroke?

Not a Lawyer

I know you are the Toxic Deplorable Avenger Super Hero and would have him zip cuffed for the police to pick up and all but Ahmed had already been shot by that point and probably was doing all he could.

Toxic Deplorable Racist SAH Neanderthal

Nah. Trained or not, it seems a basic human reaction to use whatever weapon is at hand to disable a perp.
I wasn’t trained in bayonet or butt stroke tactics during Basic, yet it still seems a “thing” to do when there’s nothing else to hand.
Handcuffs and zip ties? I only use the zip ties at work for cable bundling and other assemblies.

“Horrifying weapons”
The videos show them using a bolt action rifle and a shotgun.
But nary a mention of the IEDs they had in their vehicle and didn’t get a chance to use….

When I was a kid you could buy waterproof cannon fuse thru
the Post Office. Ten foot rolls in an envelope.
If you didn’t have gunpowder just cut off the “tip” of
Ohio blue tip matches. Common pipe fittings were available
at the hardware store. But guns are the problem (sarc).

timactual

Heck, when I was a kid you could buy rifles, pistols, almost anything through the mail. That darn Lee Oswald and his mail-order 6.5 mm Carcano screwed that up.

Or at least he was the excuse used by crooked politicians to further erode our 2nd Amendment rights.

“ It should be noted for those who wanted to “ban all Muslim immigrants” that Mr. Ahmed IS a Muslim immigrant.”

So what? No muslims, no problems.

Like the guy who wrote “The Sword and the Scimitar” likes to say, if you have a bag with 100 candies, and only 10 are poisoned, would you still eat from the bag?

cobrkai99

There is also reporting that Mr Ahmed is a Syrian Christian, not Muslim.

Slow Joe

Yeah, but I have seen no evidence of it. He certainly has not clarified that.

Not a Lawyer

Yet another lie.

Al-Ahmed is an Australian Muslim citizen of Syrian origin, and comes from the village of al-Nayrab, near Idlib in Syria, a relative of his, who identified himself as Mustafa Asad. Al-Ahmed is understood to have moved to Australia in 2006.

The shooting happened Sunday. We need to wait at least a week before we can expect the media to give us a full and accurate account.

No one chooses where they are born, and into what family and religion they are born. But at some point, is up to you to decide if you continue to follow those beliefs, or if you were born in a shithole into a shithole culture, and is time to break with it.

It is true we are all victims of our environment and culture, but it is also true that we all have agency and a responsibility to find our moral compass and do what it is right.

So yes, Islam must be defeated for humanity to move forward. Communism too, by the way. This not just a problem of religion or culture, or politics. It is an ideological problem. Do we want freedom and liberty for all, or will we allow the deranged to impose their twisted ideology on the rest of us?

SFC D

We just gotta pit the muzzies against the commies, then pound the winner while they’re still weakened.

I ask people if they would get on a plane knowing that there is a 1% chance that it would crash. Strangely, 1% doesn’t sound like much to many people until they think about it.

In the United States about .000001% of our Muslim immigrants go off the rails and begin targeted or random murders of the population.

Again it doesn’t sound like much until you think about it.

Toxic Deplorable Racist SAH Neanderthal

0.0000001% isn’t much.
But the other 99.999% that either stand by and don’t stop those going off the rails, or actively assist those going off the rails….THERE’S the problem.

Not a Lawyer

My point was more to the idea of the amount of catastrophic damage even a very small part of the population can cause.

I also put one too many zeros on there. It should be about 1 in a 100,000 not one in a million. You then exacerbated the problem with another typo by making it one in ten million. But, If say, one in a hundred thousand Mexican immigrants, legal and illegal, committed a major terror act once in their adult life time there would be a dozen per year. Our border with Mexico would close and the wall would have already been built.

If we include those born to new citizens such as Nidal Hassan, (may he forever be cursed to hell) the number of incidents increase.

Slow Joe

I just looked up the percentage of passenger flights with fatal crashes. ≈ 0.000003 %
(estimated at ~1 per 30–35 million flights)
(includes all types of passenger flights)

Slow Joe

The correct answer should be zero.
They can stay in their countries and fix them.

timactual

“In the United States about .000001% of our Muslim immigrants go off the rails…”

1)In the United States
2) So far.
3) It isn’t “off the rails”, it’s following the directions in the manual.

I have thought about it.

Slow Joe

I know Tolkien and all the “Tolkien scholars” claim The Lord of the Rings was inspired by J. R.R. Tolkien’s experiences in WW1.
However, to me it always seemed as inspired by WW2, with Mordor in place of Germany, Gondor as Britain, Isengard as Japan, and Rohan in place of America.

Not a Lawyer

Tolkien drew across multiple countries and times for his inspiration. The story isn’t an allegory about a particular war at all.

Isengard is the University of Birmingham. While it is much nicer today, in Tolkien’s era it was in the middle of an industrial wasteland. In early 2000s when interest in novel locations was peaked they opened discussion to build a park around the tower.

Gondor was Rome, particularly post-empire Renaissance era Rome. The riders of Rohan were the Anglo-Saxon Brits.

From a friend in Oz, he reports that one of the shooters was a Maronite Christian who had converted to Islam.

Additionally as confirmed by the the Philippine Bureau of Immigrat the father/son traveled there arriving on 1 Nov with a final destination of Davao. Some Oz reporting was they underwent militant training while there.

As always if you haven’t heard a rumor by noon start one.

It’s speculation at this point of what they did there but it wouldn’t be at all surprising. Parts of the Philippines are in a low grade civil war most of the time.

Fyrfighter

As I recall the Moro insurrection was a bunch of muzzies causing trouble in the Philippines more than a century ago.. and it led us to adopt the 1911 over the .38 revolver.. Seems that anywhere with a muzzie population will be in perpetual turmoil..

Not a Lawyer

They were also the ones to come up with the original idea for 9/11 in the 1990s, although it was supposed to be a West Coast attack with planes originating in the Philippines. It was scrapped due to logistics and the fear that the US would invade the Philippines and kill them all.

No shit. Wow.
