Nuclear Scientist assassinated?
Nuno F.G. Loureiro, 47, a nuclear scientist on MIT’s staff, was shot at his house in Brookline, MA (just outside Boston) on Monday. He died in hospital.
Police initially theorized that the shooting could have been related to the Brown University shooting (I pooh-poohed the idea that shootings in two separate states would be linked, but I tend to forget that in little states like that the two locations are less than an hour apart.) This theory has been discounted, although the Brown shooing was at 4 PM and Loreiro’s shooting was hours later.
Shortly after news of Loureiro’s death spread, several MIT students gathered outside of his home to hold a candlelight vigil and remember his legacy.
In addition to being a professor of nuclear science and engineering and physics, Loureiro was also the director of MIT’s Plasma Science and Fusion Center. He was known for his work specifically with plasma dynamics, per his obituary in MIT News. People
The accomplished scientist joined the MIT faculty in 2016 and “quickly became known as an imaginative scholar, gifted administrator and enthusiastic mentor,” MIT President Sally Kornbluth said in a statement.
The university said Loureiro was a “faculty member in the departments of Nuclear Science & Engineering and Physics, as well as the Director of MIT’s Plasma Science and Fusion Center.”ABC News
At this time the police say there is no obvious suspect or motive.

The authorities in the US have not endorsed this theory (as of this writing) and say they have no evidence which supports it.
Professor Loreiro has spoken out in favor of Israel, however – were I conspiracy-minded, I would think him a perfect target for Iran in retaliation for the strikes on their nuclear facilities.
However, informed sources have emphasized that at this stage, there is no unequivocal determination or evidence linking the murder to a state or intelligence operation.
In the United States, authorities are maintaining ambiguity. According to official statements, all avenues of investigation, criminal and otherwise, are being examined, and evidence is being collected from the shooting scene and the immediate vicinity. Jerusalem Post
Articles say there was no evidence of a forced entry to Loreiro’s house.
He was a leading fusion and plasma researcher. He was essentially the Oppenheimer of efforts to build a fusion reactor. I wouldn’t be surprised if the FSB and/or the CHICOMs wanted him gone, but we’ll never know.
We need to know. The future is at stake.

We are indeed little states here in New England…I’m in Western Massachusetts and I’m less than an hour and a half from my boat on the Connecticut shoreline on Long Island Sound…I’m less than two hours from Boston and about three hours from NYC….I can be in upstate New York in 2 hours to catch the races at Saratoga in the summer….in about four hours I can be in Maine…
We have a lot of cool history in these little states, but these days we have far too much stupid government as well…if it were not for the deep family and community roots I’ve grown over the last 5 decades I would be long gone…but too many friends and family, and no desire to be too far from them keeps me here these days.
More to the point of the post, my first thought was why a nuclear physicist from MIT?
Seemed unlikely to be random, one hopes a thorough investigation will reveal the truth.
I’m not sure how thorough the investigation is going to be, now that they have a conveniently dead suspect.
It is a bit strange. Murders of college professors that don’t involve a romantic partner or a random mass pleasure killing are pretty rare birds.
The two other most common murder motives are money and drugs; but that doesn’t appear to be the case here. If the Chinese tried to recruit him and he didn’t flip that might have been enough.

This is BS. They are taking out our leading scientists who are not woke and are actually working to make the future American.
We need to find out who did this and why. If the Chicom AI identified the scientists who will revolutionize the next decade and the Chicoms decided to act now to stop us, we need to retaliate.

(Keeping in mind FJB allowed almost 100 individuals on the U.S. Terror Watch List into this country through his open border policy, and another 18,000 illegals with ties to terrorism to roam around.)
