Amateur Hour on O’Reilly Factor

| July 25, 2012

I was at home this evening and saw this segment from The O’Reilly Factor. Needless to say Bill needs to be educated because he kept yelling that people can buy fully auto weapons and there’s no database tracking. Even though there was the full auto ban in the 80s and you have to have a class III license in order to get a fully automatic weapon. His ignorance is pretty blatant and it made me feel like I was watching MSNBC.
Here’s the video:

He is a true dumbass, he shows that he has no clue about firearms. He also is nothing more than a bully as well. For some reason he strikes me as a guy who like to dress in ladies clothes.

OldSoldier54

After half, I couldn’t watch anymore. O’Reilly can certainly be obtuse at times, but I think he may have hit a new personal best with this one.

Thunder 26

I had just come home from work and saw the same thing. Anyone who wants a fully automatic weapon legally has to register with the BATF,FBI, and pass many checks. Demonizing Semi-Automatic Weapons is just playing to, pandering to and politicizing gun control weasels.

Dana Morgan

Where is his outrage about the government supplying drug dealers with real automatic weapons? O’Reilly sure does not have a clue. What about the 30,000 laws already on the books? And finally what about the fact the theater was a “gun free zone” which somehow makes it safe for all because criminals and psychopaths will avoid committing crimes where they know no one will shoot back?

Don Carl

Uh, I hate to tell you, but, private ownership of fully automatic weapons has been severely restricted since the 1930’s…

ray

O’Reilly is wrong on just about EVERY SINGLE point he tried to make. Even the tracking of ammunition, he says ”60,000 rounds”. He didn’t purchase ”60,000”. They said he may have a total of various ammo/or purchased during a period around 6,000 rounds. 10% of what he is misinforming the public that he bought. This is almost absurd. He also says you can just go to any gun show and walk out with a AK-47 with a background check. BOGUS. It’s like a 7th grader did the research for this…

ray

*without a background check

The night before he said anyone can buy a bazooka. Don’t know about other places, but haven’t seen any bazookas or LAW’s in gun shops around here.

SomePeoplesKids

they DO have those auto attachments now that pull the trigger continuously using the recoil of the rifle, as long as you keep it tight in your shoulder, but i know that’s not what this guy is talking about. It’s not like I can walk into the Matrix gun room and pick anything I want. This relates back to the other article that points out how these people talk about firearms like they know, in detail, everything there is to know, but can’t come up with the name of a high capacity magazine. worthless assholes as far as I’m concerned. But really, shouldn’t any gun control conversations at this point just be referred IMMEDIATELY to the “fast and furious” program?

Smaj

Haven’t watched that pompous blowhard in years.

Claymore

And while we’re at it, can someone explain this “heavy weaponry” horseshit meme?

StrikeFO

he also tried to lead people to believe he was in the military on his radio show once… but I digress.

“But I tell you what, I’ve been in combat. I’ve seen it. I’ve been close to it. And if my unit is in danger and I got a captured guy and the guy knows where the enemy is and I’m looking him in the eye, the guy better tell me. That’s all I’m gonna tell you. If it’s life or death, he’s going first.”

Old Trooper

Well, on another blog they had a picture up of the “body armor” that the nutbar was wearing, based on the sales order he had placed. Well, it wasn’t “body armor”, it was a tactical load bearing vest. Yeah, you heard that right. It has as much bullet resistance as a t-shirt. I guess the media and anti-gun types are as knowledgeable about body armor as they are about guns.

Plus, a friend of a friend mentioned on FB that she could buy a “high powered assault rifle” over the internet. I told her to go ahead and try and see how far she gets. Seems that her anti-gun ignorance was on full display and reading all the anti-gun literature made her an expert.

Anyone who thinks BOREilly is a conservative has no fucking clue what or who a conservative is. Anybody got a loofah?

jonp

Claymore: Heavy Weaponry obviously means a .50 cal. You ever try to fire one from your shoulder?
I get a kick out of people like that jackass on young turks who try and scream about gun control and have no idea about firearms themselves. You most certainly can own “fully automatic weapons” but the requirements for doing so are way above rolling into the gun shop and walking out with one. As for going into a gunshow and walking out with an AK with just a background check I’ve done it. What is wrong with that statement, ray? This is what the background check is for. You are never going to be able to tell who all the loons in society are or protect every person from every other person. The only way to come close would be to have a Federal Surveillance State so intrusive it would make Minority Report look like anarchy.

NHSparky

AK with just a background check I’ve done it

That’s fine. BOREilly was saying you could buy without a background check. Personally, I’d love to see him try to get a Class III license.

jonp

@#14: I’ve had this argument with several people already and am sure to have it some more. From what I can tell this clown did not have body armor. At most a flak vest but from the pictures I can’t even see one of those. You can buy true body armor from several sources. Most of it is aimed at politicians, high profile business men in dangerous climes around the world, etc.. but is very expensive. This just furthers my point about people parroting things they don’t what the hell they are talking about and what if this had not been a “gun free zone” but full of sheepdogs?

Jeff

I watch OReilly every night but the last 2 nights when he is talking about firearms I wanted to scream at him. I have been going to gun shows for 20 yrs and am pissed that I missed the bazooka and howitzer table everytime.

jonp

Sparky: I didn’t see Oreilly and don’t have a tv so probably won’t catch the segment. I was only referring to a previous statement with this made in #6 by Ray.
As for buying LAW’s and Bazooka’s in gunshops. Not in the ones around here. Tell me the location of these shops and I’ll start saving my money now!

Redacted1775

Eh, a .50 cal has more of a “push” than it does a “kick”…regardless, it’s not something that’s exactly fun to put 150-200 rounds through in a single day. Now I did see a prototype .50 that cycles the bolt down through the grip, instead of straight back, thus reducing felt recoil. That would be something worth trying out. One you should check out on youtube is the .950 JDJ, made from a modified 20mm. 40 bucks every time you pull the trigger, the rifle itself weighs 100 lbs. Shouldering HIGHLY DISCOURAGED.

CombatCAsh

OK, who hacked Bills teleprompter feed to start spouting liberal bullshit??

Jabatam

Wow! Just…wow! Dude is as ignorant as my dog. Good on the congressman for trying to set him straight; at least he had a good head on his shoulders. I feel bad for that girl’s brother being dragged into this but he still kept a good head on his shoulders too.

By the way, I’ve now received 4 petitions via email calling for more gun control and they looked like they were gaining signatures pretty quickly. I’ve responded to all of them and calmly pointed out the flaws in their argument but I’m sure it’ll all fall on deaf ears

Claymore

Heavy Weaponry obviously means a .50 cal.

I disagree…he seems to think that an AK-47 is a “heavy weapon” and then goes on to talk about mortars and other ordinance; shit that has been categorized as “destructive devices” for quite some time. This is the crap I hear from liberal bed wetters, they want to talk about owning nukes and then start describing these scary firearms as “machine guns” and why anyone would need a so-called assault weapon (which is retarded, since anything used in a assault is technically an assault weapon, isn’t it?). What seems to be missing from all of these conversations is that the first 10 amendments to the Constitution are not referred to as the Bill of Needs. Gun grabbers also love to talk about how private firearms ownership wouldn’t do much to stop a tyrannical government, saying that the US military would curb-stomp any sort of rebellion thrown at them. That’s an interesting take on events after these same leftards have spent years cheering on the insurgents in Iraq and A’stan, relishing in the setbacks handed our military. I wish they’d get their shit in one sock on this issue.

OWB

“Heavy weapons” are those which require wheeled conveyance to get them across the yard???

rb325th

I think someone slipped bill a stupid pill, my bet is on Bob Beckel.
I caught some of his ignorant tirades the past couple nights on the subject, and to say he is clueless about weapons and gun laws in this country is an undertsatement.

PavePusher

O’Reilly seemed to be channeling Lawrence ODonnell for a few minutes there.

Fox News and MSNBC… where Journalism went to die.

Ex-PH2

Bazookas and howitzers? I thought they quit using those after the Korean War.

Aren’t tanks, missile launchers on ships and towed missile launchers (behind a halftrack) heavy weapons?

I think Bill O. watches WAY too many movies. He tends to get a little overwrought, and when he does, he’s ridiculous.
