Tim Kennedy finally gets his title chance (?)
Not sure how many folks track Tim, but I am one of his biggest fans. Well, sort of, to be honest I don’t really like his hugs, and he purposefully licks his straw because I have weird phobias about straws and people that drool on them. (Which is why I hate kids.) Anyway, other than the hugging and the straw thing, you’ll never meet a finer man. He and my wife were doing lunges at the black tie dinner and making asses of themselves. It was rather funny, but I hid because it was embrassing me. So anyway, in a total non-Brady way, I just love Tim Kennedy.
So, I was excited to see this morning he is finally getting his shot. Actually, he told me Saturday night, but he didn’t seem to know much about it. It’s (I guess) somewhat semi-official now.
Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold has been looking forward to defending his title against Tim Kennedy for quite some time now. If all goes as planned, the two will square off this year.
“I’m excited about the fight with Kennedy,” said Rockhold, in a recent interview with MMAWeekly.com (thanks to MMAMania.com for transcribing). “I think he’s highly underrated, very tough dude, he poses a lot of challenges. I’ll be ready.”Kennedy has not fought since July of last year, when he defeated Robbie Lawler. Injuries have kept the U.S. Army veteran on the sidelines for several months.
“It looks like it’s finally going to happen,” Rockhold said. “I’ve been waiting for that one for a long time, and I’m excited. I’m getting on my wrestling. Wrestling’s a key for this fight, I gotta control the wrestling.”

YESSSSSS!!! I watched his Strikeforce debut on AFN in Baghdad back in 09-10, it was epic!
I can’t wait for this fight. I literally don’t ever watch MMA, but I will always watch Tim fight, because I just know him as the dude who will walk up to any Joe and talk to him for 25 mins.
That’s my boy!! Tim’s a local guy, and really liked around here.
The Army dropped the ball not using this kid as a good will embassador. The Marines let Brian Stann do his thing for awhile before getting out. Good luck to Tim….

Its the same deal with Caleb Campbell and West Point. If you’re good enough to play NFL ball….then go. They polled some of his fellow classmates and alot actually thought he should serve. One guy will not make a difference. I heard the back story and he was made alot of promises that didn’t pan out.
There was a USNA guy on the Pats backup roster that got called up too this year.
Navy and Air Force have a better deal for their guys then West Point.
