Left’s media hit squads trying to censor AFN
(Updated)
As a full disclaimer: I don’t like Rush Limbaugh. I don’t enjoy his programming, his attitude or his incessant partisanship. That being said I’m not in a huff about his existence behind a microphone or the pleasure others take in it. If anything the man serves more as a reliable PR foil for Democrats than as a leader for Republicans.
What does really irratate me though is the effort of partisan media flaks trying to remove his show from our Armed Forces Network. AFN carries all sorts of programming for troops based not on political affiliations but on the popularity of that programming among the under-served demographic of overseas military personnel. So this petition to get Limbaugh taken away from the troops, despite his popularity among those troops, is pretty low.
Well, good news. There’s a new petition for the White House to keep Limbaugh on AFN. The White House’s guidlines say that if a petition reaches 25,000 votes it will give an official response. The petition to censor Limbaugh is a few days old and at about 22k over 25k. The petition to retain the popular programming is brand new and under 1k. I’m sure, though, it can rely on a few more clicks via TAH.
- Anti-censorship petition. Keep Limbaugh.
- Pro-censorship petition. Ditch Limbaugh.

I don’t care for Limbaugh either, but trying to get him off of AFN, especially when Schultz is guilty of the exact same verbiage…is reacting like petulant child.
Don’t like what’s on the radio? Turn it off.
Went to the petition to get rid of limbaugh, just wanted to see where it stood in the numbers count, it is already over the 25,000 needed as of 11:15am central.
Thanks Jack, I’ve updated the post.
No problem just seeing what the other side is up to.
NSOM, if I sign up on the petition, am I going to get dopey WH emails?
Your position is 100% mine, I just don’t want to get the emails.
DU and other left wing blogs have been pitching this poll for a couple of days now. I certain the WH will do what’s right….
No TSO, I don’t think so. When I signed up there was a check box to “receive updates from the President and other important officials.” I left it unchecked and so presume I won’t get spammed. You can always use your throw away spam email account though, just to be sure.
I’m not a huge Rush fan myself but this is just wrong. If they kick him off the air then libtards have no choice but to remove ‘du’ off the net. What they do is nothing short of hate speech.
I’ve a friend who’s like a rabid honey badger trying to get Limbaugh dropped from AFN. He’s cited as “hate radio” and a misogynist, while any comment on Schultz or Maher are laughed off and their attacks justified.
Frankly, I’m tired of the hypocrisy and more than a bit peeved at the blatant lack of rationale from the left in general.
Heheheheee
As a disclaimer: I love Limbaugh, I love his attitude, his programming, and his incessant partisanship. He’s a wonderful example of what politics is, and will always hopefully be in the United States. 😉
And it just so happens I’m not even a Republican. Lol
Ya, this petition move is pretty underhanded, and definitely wrong headed.
I guess if a vote for Limbaugh is a vote against Jane Fonda and VoteVets, that ought to put asses in the seats.
I haven’t listened to Rush in years. Decades maybe, was the last time on the AM radio in the G-jet while on recruiting duty?
anywho, petition to keep Rush on AFN signed.
Actually, if the WH has him removed it would likely energize voters to get out and vote. Republican voters.
Personally, if that’s all it takes to get someone’s panties in a bunch is when someone calls someone a “slut” who spends $3K on BC pills, someone’s got WAAAAAYYYYY too much time on their hands.
But yeah–even if I could listen to Rush at work, probably wouldn’t just because there’s only so much blowhard one-sided blather I can take from either side of the spectrum.
Interesting; the site states “A whitehouse.gov account is required to sign Petitions”.
So now we have a tyrannical “CEO” who makes policy based on public opinion, but insists on limiting the collection of that opinion to those who are willing to sign up and allow collection of identifying data and surveillance of themselves?
Just goes to show the cluelessness of the governors, and of some of the governed.
Although I recall a time back in the ’70’s when much the same thing happened; when certain organizations wanted to censor AFN. Back then, military commanders had enough courage to tell them to piss off.
Of course, back then, we also had judges steeped in the tradition of freedom and constitutional government, and politicians who knew they wouldn’t be allowed to get away with their idiotic policies.
In the 1970’s in West Berlin, all we had was AFN or we had to learn speak German (a lot better than “ein bier bitta”.
I don’t even recall if we had them in Bosnia and I laughed my ass off in Iraq one morning the first time I heard the guy on AFN radio try to sound like Robin Williams when he said: “Goooodddd Mooorrrnnnnnnnnnning Iraq…..”
…oh, and Rush is a tottal retarded asshole…but I support his right to be that way.
I dont care much for Rush either, but this is liberal censorship at its finest. Also, I wont sign the petition either way. I think its a bad idea to give my personal info to our current regime.
re #17
It’s just a name, zip and email field. As long as you can access the email account to confirm your registration whatever you put in the other fields is up to you.
@17 Don’t worry, Troy, you won’t be giving them anything they can’t already get if they want it, anyway.
I have deplored Rush since he was caught shopping for Oxy. You can’t claim the moral high ground if you’re a junkie. He’s a hypocrite but he’s entitled to his opinion and he’s a lot milder than Ed Schultz,Howard Stern,Jessie,Al Sharpton, Olberman, Maher or Maddow. But since they have their collective Libtard heads stuck up the obama’s ass that they can only see daylight when he opens his mouth, they’re not considered offensive or “Uncivil>” Remember when Gabby Hayes first got shot- they Blamed it on the Tea Party? Or when the guy crashed his Cessna into the IRS in Texas- he must be a Right- Winger, although it was found to be just the opposite just like in Arizona.
I outgrew Limbaugh a few years ago. He’s serves as kind of a primer for conservative thought. There are better, more substantive conservative thinkers out there.
But let’s keep in mind that the Left has been trying to get him off AFN for years. This furor over the slut comment is just opportunism. “he hates women!” Blah, blah, blah.
Oh yeah, and I hate it when he gets sidetracked with golf and NFL talk. If I wanted to hear talk about sports I’d tune to the sports talk station.
