Former National Security Adviser slams Obama on Keystone

| December 26, 2011

Earlier this month the former Commandant of the Marine Corps and Obama National Security Adviser General James Jones slammed his former boss over Keystone XL, the pipeline intended to run oil from the Canadian tar sands to refineries in the United States. Jones minced few words:

Jones, who rarely speaks in public and almost never contradicts his former boss President Barack Obama, lashed out against the administration in a press call and warned of grave consequences to U.S. national security if the project to build the pipeline doesn’t move forward immediately.

“In a tightly contested global economy, where securing energy resources is a national must, we should be able to act with speed and agility. And any threat to this project, by delay or otherwise, would constitute a significant setback,” said Jones. “The failure to [move forward with the project] will prolong the risk to our economy and our energy security” and “send the wrong message to job creators.”

The Keystone pipeline is opposed by the usual lunatic Green fringe who hate it for no other reason than it will make the delivery of oil to US markets easier, safer and cheaper. In an increasingly common and always enjoyable juxtaposition, our nation’s unions, always worried about the decay of easily unionized jobs, support the pipeline and the bevy of new (possibly union) jobs it will bring. Our great post-partisan uniter of a President intends to punt on the issue until after the 2012 election cycle, knowing he’ll have to let down one of his core constituencies. Somehow I doubt his former head of National Security scolding him over playing politics will sway him, he’s probably too busy checking the latest Gallup poll. Yes we can.

why is it that Obama ignores all that makes America Strong? Why is it we always seem to fall into Ideological Idocacies that leave us helpless and gasping?

Some items should be pointed out concerning the Keystone. The pipeline terminates at Motiva, a joint venture between Shell Oil & Saudi Aramco at their newly expanded refinery in Port Arther, TX. While many temporary union pipeline jobs will be created, there would only be roughly 75-100 additional permanent jobs (union & non-union) created in Port Arther, after its completion. Obama, as most people know has no lost love for Texas, his regional EPA chief in Dallas is on the “clean economy” train along with every other commie “green wienie” economy booster with GE and numerous investors in the “climate change” cap and tax scheme are soundly against this or any project that runs counter to their investment interests. Oh, did I neglect to mention that many regional utility companies, states, Shell, BP and Saudi Aramco are heavily invested in the same “climate change/CO2” scheme along with GE?

NHSparky

Doc, I don’t think he’s ignoring it. Nobody can be that wrong that many times by accident.

CI

Good on Jones for speaking up.

Joe

“…why is it that Obama ignores all that makes America Strong?” Why is it Doc Bailey poses totally invalid, leading questions? What a bunch of BS! Jones, Doc Bailey, and all the other shills for big oil, paid or otherwise, launch into predictably shrill warnings (the sky is falling) the instant any reasonable oversight is even suggested. I’ve heard it 1,000 times. Raping vast areas of Alberta for cheap, incredibly dirty oil is not going insure our energy security, it’s only gonna foul our own nest.

Old Trooper

@5: Ah yes, the whole “shills for big oil” blather. What about you, joe, are you a shill for big enviro? What about the bs “sky is falling” AGW hoax? Same with all the whining about how drilling in ANWR was going to do horrible things to the environment, even though they had no proof other than their own “sky is falling” bs. Your idea of “reasonable” is questionable as well. How about those bird blender wind farms? Yeah, THAT was a great idea, considering the efficiency of those windmills aren’t all that great, plus the large swaths of land that are ruined my these unsightly windmills all over the place, killing all sorts of birds, some rare and endangered. You should be ashamed of yourself, bird killer!

NHSparky

Hmmmmm…Joe, which has a greater potential for environmental damage? Getting oil out of our own back yards, or hauling it from 10,000 miles away?

Let’s see if you can figure that one out.

2-17 AirCav

Got coal again this year, huh Joey?

hoosierbeagle

Joe, like many of the other luddites, live in a fantasy world. They want all the bennies of oil, but none of the cost. As for AGW it is a total crock….come on Joe, take a crack at that. I have been in weather for most of my life. I know the folks at the AF solar labs and observatories. You want to live that life then try living in an Amish community for a year, then lets talk.

Old Trooper

Ah, can’t do that, hoosierbeagle, because horse farts are considered part of the problem, according to the granola crunchers. Same with cow farts and sheep farts. Let’s not forget that it is proven that the numbers were fudged and covered up in order to advance the hoax and get the real green they care about…….money in the form of more research grants that they use to fuel the “crisis” so that they can get more money for more research and then the cycle continues.

Brian

#5 – Whoa, was that ever a stretch to defend Obama. LOL

Brian

#5 – Yet another example of when, while going out on a limb to defend liberal nuttiness, Joey saws off the limb between the tree and the part of the limb that he is precariously sitting on. 🙂

UpNorth

@#8, yes he did, AirCav. And, Santa forgot one thing that most of us would wish for Joey, the ability to reason and think.
His latest screed proves, yet again, that he can’t do either.
So, go ahead, Joey, scream “the sky is falling” and point out how we’re ignoring the scam, er, crisis of AGW.

Doc Bailey

@joe: Invalid or misleading? How so? America has been strong because of its industry, and he ignores the industrious nature of the American Worker. I’m not for the Unions, but any idiot can see that we NEED oil, and we need to be off the Arab oil ASAP. OPEC is fleecing the shit out of us.

Furthermore, Environmentalists never, EVER talk about producing more, better and cheaper. They are always talking about restrictions. Actually it’s like watching a Retelling of Atlas shrugged, but sadly the Producers are not going on Strike. We are living in a depression that is the culmination of many many bad policies from the looters, and Barry is acting as looter in chief.

So yes Why does he ignore the things that make the US strong?

Doc Bailey

Oh and Joe one more thing, I’m not for “Big” anything. I’m for whoever produces. Whoever takes satisfaction in a job well done. and lastly I’m for anyone that will make the looters get the hell out of my way!

And as for my shrill warnings. . . well I’d like to see how shrill you get when you realize our entire industrial base has moved to china, and we literally can’t tax the rich anymore because anyone making decent money has already moved their estates offshore. Who then would pay for your social programs?

Cedo Alteram

Jones maybe on right on this particular issue but have never been all that impressed with him.
