OWS plagued by infighting and crime

| October 29, 2011

USAToday reports that vio;ence among the protesters at Occupy Wall STreet has morphed nto a typical liberal city, plagued by violence, crime, even areas of Zuccotti Park whick are too dangerous for people to enter at night;

Fights are erupting among Occupy Wall Street protesters, so much so that one corner of Zuccotti Park has emerged where protesters say they won’t go for fear of their safety, the New York Daily News is reporting.

Police officers also have been warned of “dangerous instruments” being concealed in cardboard tubing, the News says it has been told by unidentified police sources.

So that whole hippie government thing has worked out for them just like it’s worked for every other urban area of the country.

this is actually a bit of a good thing. We are getting to see an accelerated version of how Liberal Policies affect a society. This would actually be a great case study for a sociologist.

Also, sadly, as the saying goes: A conservative is a Liberal that’s been raped. Maybe this will be a wakeup call to the lost wayward souls there.

Everyone who is surprised by this, raise your hand. No-go zone in the worker’s paradise? Say it isn’t so.

I’d love to say I’m amazed by this.

No, wait–I’m really not. And again, tell me this is some sort of outlier behavior. I haven’t had enough laughs yet today.

On the other hand, 6-10 inches of snow forecast, gusts from 40-50 mph for NYC tonight does bring kind of a smile to my face.

As stated earlier, play stupid games, get stupid prizes.

Yeah, UpNorth, the kumbaya stuff only works for a short while. Then it’s Lord of the Flies time.

“Then it’s Lord of the Flies time.”

Lord of the Flies had more adult supervision.

And, the characters in Lord of the Flies were far more sympathetic. Can’t wait for the morning videos of the brave protesters struggling in their Valley Forge moment.

And this little gem that uses Occupy Wall Street’s behavior to criticize the TEA Party today…

HOLY SHIT! They do know that OWS and the TEA party are COMPLETELY different right?

Just Plain Jason

They should cordon it off and have controlled exit points and make them do a walk of shame as they leave. Make it know. That the police will no longer enter the area after a specific time and date and I bet we will see some rat desert the ship.

Toothless Dawg

JPJ, they have no shame … or concept of shame

@10, I think such a thing might be very interesting.

That Kos link in #7 is interesting. Not the article. That discussion has been tossed around the right-blogs for a while now. I’m talking about the comments.

A little attack the messenger, a lot of deflection, and a quaint discussion on how communism isn’t all that bad.

Not one person acknowledging the content of the article.

NY Daily News Oct 29
“Lara and Rene Riquelme, 25, were among about 100 people in Zuccotti Park huddling in tents and under tarps to shield themselves from the elements.”

NY Post Oct 30
“I got my blanket, I got my sleeping bag and I got my girl, said 25-year-0ld Rene, who came from Occupy Miami to Occupy Wall Street….”’

Rene is a popular interviewee. Makes one wonder exactly how many occupiers were actually occupying Wall Street yesterday, especially after their generators were confiscated and the snow began to fall.

From PolitickerNY Oct 29:
“A McDonald’s employee struggled to keep the protesters out of an upstairs area of the restaurant that was closed. She declined to give her name or comment on record, but we asked if she was enjoying the increased business that came with the protests. She shook her head. ‘They’re harassing me, threatening me.’”

Funny how McDonalds—that ubiquitous symbol of corporate evil—is just dandy with the occupiers when it gets a bit cold.

“We’re from Occupy Austin, we showed up to support. This was probably the wrong day,” one woman said.

Lady, any day is the wrong day.

Let’s see- you pack a bunch of rats into a confined space, deprive them of basic necessities- yep, sounds a bit like the psych 101 lab…

Have any or these idots taken a basic college course in either psychology OR sociology? Of course, they’ve probably changed all those “natural laws” since many of us studied them back in the dark ages of the 60’s.

“Police officers also have been warned of “dangerous instruments” being concealed in cardboard tubing, the News says it has been told by unidentified police sources.”

If accurate, gives the police topcover to go in and shut it down when given the go-ahead.

If a planted statement, should keep the lawyers and conspiracists busy for years to come.

Political movement? Nah.

Giant freakin’ block-party. That’s all.
