Car bomb in Michigan

| September 22, 2011

Tman sends us a link to the story of a car bomb which injured three people in Monroe Michigan this morning.

Investigators were poring over what remained of the vehicle after the Tuesday evening blast, looking for clues about how the bomb was made and who might have planted it, said Donald Dawkins, a spokesman for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

“There was a lot of power behind it. The victims are very fortunate, very blessed, to be alive,” Dawkins said.

I don’t think it was related to the terror war, although it IS terrorism. According to Fox News channel, it was a lawyer and his two sons who were injured and, thankfully, not killed.

From “Renew America”- As of 2005, Michigan held the largest and still growing Muslim population in the United States and the second largest Arab population outside of the Middle East. Outside of Muslim-run countries, Paris — which still experiences nightly vehicle torchings and mayhem in its Islamic neighborhoods — has the largest. It is estimated that eight million Muslims now live in the US and their numbers are continuing to grow. Islam is now the second-largest religious body in the United States and is said to be its fastest growing religious movement.

Up here we call Dearborn, “Dearbonistan”…That’s not to far north of Monroe either, 20 miles maybe…

One account I read said the bomb was on the underside of the lawyer’s own car. Wouldn’t that tend to point to a personal (albeit extremely criminal) act, rather than a terrorist act?

LittleRed1

From what I’ve seen elsewhere, the lawyer specializes in business and labor law. It could mean nothing, but a series of Federal raids hit some IHOP restaurants in Toledo, OH focusing on a couple of managers with non-Scandinavian names. Probably pure coincidence.

One more reason to avoid Michigan

LR1, I don’t know the politics of the area well enough to follow your point. Are you thinking Union or Mob?

Armydoc

It’s an odd story. My son is frinds with the kids that live in their old house, which they occupied before moving over the border into Michigan. The old house was broken into (very rare in our town) and only electronics were stolen, namely computers. Putting things together it would seem someone had a grudge against him.

PintoNag – Is there a difference between union and mob?

PintoNag

“Grin”
#8 Kilroy: I would imagine that both would be insulted to be compared to the other!

UpNorth

PN, well the Teamsters do seem to infest the SE portion of our state, and some say they gave Jimmy Hoffa, Sr. his last ride. And, the “mob” has been around since, well, since forever. See articles on the Teamster’s Central States Pension Fund, Las Vegas and the mob.

PintoNag

And that was my question, UpNorth. I wasn’t sure if LR1 was indicating whether he thought those elements were involved, or not.

Is ‘car-bomb’ another name for Chevy?

Doc Bailey

Well you guys should know this is REALLY a CIA plant to try to gin up islamaphobia and bring the new crusade!

I mean really don’t you people know anything!
[sarc off]

Car Bombs usually used by terrorists mobsters and other less savory folk. It might be VERY interesting to see whose involved.

Armydoc

Litigated in cases involving fireworks, for whatever that’s worth.
