The Spokesman-Review reported on Friday: “A grizzly bear killed a hunter before being fatally shot Friday near the Boundary County, Idaho, limits, the latest in a series of deadly grizzly bear attacks in the Northwest. Three men from Nevada were hunting bears in a remote area of Buckhorn Mountain near the Montana border when the grizzly attacked one of them and was shot and killed by a group member, authorities say. The fatal grizzly attack comes as Idaho’s congressional delegation has proposed to amend the Endangered Species Act to reiterate that it’s OK to shoot a grizzly bear in self-defense or in defense of another person after a North Idaho man who shot and killed a grizzly cub on his property paid was charged. It’s also one of at least three fatal encounters in three months between people and grizzly bears in the region.”
GPS determined the shooting was in Montana.
My question: Will the unnamed group member who shot and killed the grizzly bear be fined?
Just need to add for immediate clarity that those folks were licensed to hunt BLACK bear.

My question is: did the bear have the proper license and tags for hunting humans? If not, is the bear subject to fines?
There was a reason the pioneers, trappers, and miners of the old west killed every griz they encountered.

This article is incorrect. The dumbass 21 yr. old kid shot the bear because he was too stupid to know a black bear from a grizzly and only wounded the poor thing. Thereupon the dumb bastards decided to track the bear down and got attacked by an animal in severe pain. Justice did not prevail as the imbecile that shot the bear wasn’t the one that got killed and the bear ended up dead for being a bear in bear country. What the hell were they doing killing bears anyway? Big white hunters from Nevada. Should have stuck to murdering jack rabbits.
