Carson City shooter was NOT military
That insane moron who went off in an IHOP in Carson City NV and murdered two National Guardsmen, one male and one female, turns out to be 32-year-old Eduardo Sencion who had no connection to the military despite some speculation from the media and in my email this afternoon according to the Associated Press;
Sencion worked at a family business in South Lake Tahoe, was not in the military, and had no known affiliations with anyone inside the restaurant.
Furlong says Sencion arrived at the IHOP Tuesday morning in a minivan registered to his brother. He had a rifle and began shooting in and around the restaurant.
Authorities say Sencion wounded a total of seven people and killed a third person who was not a Guard member.
I’m guessing that he went to IHOP because he wasn’t much of a marksman and that’s where he could find the most biggest targets.
Some journalists are calling the weapon an AK47, but from my experience, everything that is a long gun and then someone uses it to shoot people is an AK47 to the press. One newspaper called it an “automatic rifle” which we all know are hard to find and then purchase. Even the Mexican cartels couldn’t talk the BATFE out of automatic rifles.

I bet he not only wasn’t military, he also wasn’t a Tea Partier.
My old guard unit used to tell the cops in the unit to bring a gun anytime we went out for training or anything…but we hid them under out BDUs/ ACUs.
Today’s media……Every pistol a Glock, every rifle an Assault Rifle.

I know it’s still early in the investigation, but, based on the fact that he apparently targeted the National Guard guys, I wouldn’t be overly surprised if we find out that this guy had recently converted to the Religion of Peace™ (maybe in prison?) and was suffering from an outbreak of Sudden Jihad Syndrome™.
Major Kong I would like to say you hit the nail on the head. Course I wouldn’t be surprised if somebody at BAFTE forgot to give this guy a memo saying Fast and Furious is a no go.

Not disagreeing, but waiting to see if this clown belongs to the Jared Loughner School of Civility first.
Agree with DaveO. One report said he started shooting outside the restaurant, then went inside and shot the Guardsmen. Uniforms attract attention; if it had been a table of nurses or police officers or baseball players, the same thing may have happened. We won’t know until more facts come out.
Apparently he’s a Mexican national with a history of being a bit touched in the head. Which does not rule out much, given the presence of Islamists in Latin America and their intermittent transactions with the Mexican cartels. That said, the suicide part seems to lean against a case of “sudden onset jihad.”
