Michelle Bachmann at the 2011 American Legion Convention

| September 1, 2011

Michelle Bachman 072

Finally a Republican shows up at the Convention. But like everyone else, her words don’t match her actions. Bachmann praises veterans and promises to support us, however regular readers will remember how we had to force her to remove veterans benefits from her proposal to reduce government spending a few short months ago.

If we have to continually remind them, they aren’t really thinking of us.

Thanks to Mr. Wolf for the above picture.

I’ll bet if one of her kids was in the service, her tune would have been totally different.

That’s the point though, Mommynator. Because of her position of power, every single one of the men and women in the service ARE her “kids.” She is able to affect their lives with as much force as if she were actually their mother — and she needs to realize that!!

I hear ya – I felt that way about all the people that walked through our home because of my son. And beyond.

PintoNag

Absolutely. Her having to be forced to remove veterans benefits from her proposals makes me wonder exactly how many veterans she actually does know. My guess would be: damn few, if any at all.

Where do these assclowns come from? We have such a great country and so many good, smart people…how come in the last few years neither Party has come up with somebody worthy to run for president? Can’t they find somebody who was as sharp as JFK or as good of an actor as Reagan….who acted better as president than in any of his movies—and got stuff to happen.

Seems like all we have running for president are folks who could never get a real job.

A lot of good people who would make good representatives (I’ll not say “politicians”) don’t want to put themselves and their families through it. Like Sarah Palin or not, what the press and the Left (but I repeat myself) has done to her family is inexcusable. I don’t want to get involved in politics in that way, and I would think twice about getting involved with a guy who was, too, if that ever came up. Of course, the press/the Left like it this way – it’s not a mistake that they do this.

As an aside, I know a young man from the Legion post where I am in the Auxiliary. He’s Sons of the American Legion, not a vet himself. He has high political aspirations. I keep telling him that he needs to have real-life experience, not just all politics: people are sick and tired of career politicians. I like him well enough, but something about him puts me off with his apparent complete focus on the wheeling and dealing of politics…

I keep seeing references to the alienation from society of our “Warrior Class.” That’s NOTHING compared to the alienation from society of our “Political Class”!

Frankly Opinionated

Here in the NW Florida Panhandle, last election cycle we had a candidate for State Senator. He was a military retiree, small business owner, family man type. On his web page, he explained that he was NOT a politician but rather a statesman, and went on to define the two. I’ve met him and would back him for any office he chose to run in because I think he would not tackle one that he was not qualified for; like these asshats have done.
I laugh every time I see a candidate discounted because he “doesn’t have DC experience.
