A question?

| August 14, 2011

I am a Navy vet, but I’ve always felt I missed something,  so I’ve started playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to catch up.

Most of the bad guys I kill are wearing mid-eastern garb, etc. It’s a really hard game, kinda like real war.

So what medals and/or awards can I add to to my ‘Nam stuff?

I must point out that I don’t have a basement but I do sometimes play in my underwear.  I don’t live with my mother, but she is still alive.

Still I reckon I am now as qualified as some of those in the IVAW (and their kin) to give speeches and teach the children. Hint: I could use a few extra bucks.

I remember the time in The Pit when I was forced to kill a civilian, and more. It was horrible!

Use the contact link above for scheduling and pricing. I’m available for speaking engagements and press events.

you can’t start teaching children as an official Iraq Veteran Against the War until you beat the final level.

Claymore

Strike is correct, but the good news is that you can already start claiming PTSD right after the tutorial mission, so you got that going for you.

ROS

I made it past “I am a Navy vet, but I’ve always felt I missed something, so I’ve started playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to catch up” before snickering. 😀

I hear-by officially authorize you to speak about the following items:

1.) The horror of war
2.) American (and/or Western) exploration of the third world
3.) War profiteering
4.) Plummeting morale within the armed forces
5.) The degenerating quality of those tricked into servitude in the military machine
6.) Nonspecific innuendo of probable war crimes
7.) The immorality of the occupation of and/or imperialistic aggression against countries currently in the headlines to include but not limited to: Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya, Somalia, Philippines, Central and Latin American countries recently discussed in Chomsky speaking gigs, Yemen, Bahrain and all countries with vaguely communist governments to include Cuba, North Korea and The People’s Republic of California. Please do not discuss actions against China. Since the reactionary regime of Deng Xiaoping they’ve all been traitors to the cause and deserve all that’s coming to them.

Thank you for your interest in serving the common good.

Claymore

Oh hey, I heard that GameStop is going to be stocking an IVAW edition complete with a t-shirt, a manual on how to endlessly crash on other people’s couches and not get a job, and a US flag suitable for burning.

re Zero,

I’m going to assume you’ve already emailed the relevant media outlets such as Democracy Now ! and Russia Today, yes?

streetsweeper

@ #5 – Zero; If Jonn does? Let me know, I’ll gladly *pimp* you out….I have no problem with your desire to a media whore, LOL! We’ll make out all the way around.

Don Carl

You were in the Navy, doesn’t that make you a Seal, just like Jesse Ventura?

2-17AirCav

Yes, you are now eligible for speaking engagements. You may also vacate the closet without fear of repercussion. Best of all, you remain eligible to play high school football in Illinois!

NHSparky

Don–there’s that as well. Also, I’ve played Submarine Commander and Silent Service, so does that mean I can award myself a MOH and claim I’m Dick O’Kane?

Whitey_Wingnut

Even before I joined the Air Force I played the original Playstation games Medal of Honor, Rainbow Six and many others. I even play Battlefied 2142, so I’m prepared for the future. Looks like I’m overqualifed.

Doc Bailey

well having been in the navy can you talk about the horror of drowning those poor Somalis that come out to “protect” their waters?

You could also talk about the waste of aircraft carriers. Or do we REALLY need hundreds of ships.

But since you’re a COD Warrior, you can talk about how hard ranger training is, and how you are given unbelievably brutal missions.

AW1 Tim

Is there a special mission that covers hanging out in a Baskin Robbins for a week and raping local girls?

PurpleDragon

This has nothing to do with your post, just me feeling sorry for myself.

I’m also a Navy vet [72-75], I did my time on the USS Hancock, CVA 19.

Currently my service is probably killing me from esophageal cancer, I haven’t had anything to eat since April, I feed myself through a tube in my stomach.

I was originally diagnosed in Feb. of ’09 and had chemo and radiation treatments in late ’09. The cancer went in to remission for ’10 but came back in ’11. It slowly closed off my esophagus to the point I was dieing of hunger and thirst in April of this year.

Kilroy

Kilroy was here.

PintoNag

Prayers out for you, Purple Dragon. I had an uncle who also had esophageal cancer.

As one of the civilians that post here, I also want to thank you for your service. You are priceless; your true worth can never be expressed.

2-17AirCav

I’m sorry for your situation, Purple Dragon. That sucks. I do not know what to say other than to share with you that I often think of the young Americans in uniform who never knew (or will know) their 20s, 30s or beyond. Thinking of them helps me better appreciate each day I have that they did not. I will say a prayer for you. So, too, will others here. Of that you can be sure.

Arrow

Purple Dragon, I’m sorry to hear you are in such a tough fight and sincerely hope you are in the company of family and friends and you are not going through this battle alone.

Have you visited the Blue Water Navy site? In case you have not I’ve put up the link below.

I’m a survivor of two Vietnam Vets (husband and brother. They were volunteers and proud of their service as is the whole family and I THANK YOU, SIR from my heart for your service to this great nation of ours.

Prayers out for you today.

AW1 Tim

What Zero says. Shipmates are shipmates, and that’s forever. I’ll add your name to my list.

Laughing Wolf

Purple Dragon, Thoughts and prayers out for you.

PurpleDragon

Thank you all! And for the other vets here as well as those still in the service Thank You for your service as well.
