Okay… a link

There is a comment here as well as an interesting video with Rumsfeld.

The Comment:

“I can’t believe the same crowd that wanted Abu Ghraib pictures endlessly published find a photo confirming Osama bin Laden’s demise to be possibly inflammatory.”

I’m on record as saying the release of The Real pix serves little good purpose, but… This juxtaposition hadn’t occurred to me.

Nah, it ain’t quite the same, but still it is a valid comparison.

Consistency for the more radical Left is NEVER going to happen.

Thats not much of a lead, Zero….

Concur on the utility of the OBL headshot photo release. As for the rest, what Doc Bailey said.

Not really, the abu Ghraib photos were evidence of the commissioning of a crime that people feared wouldn’t be pursued without the publishing of the photos into the public realm. The photos of bin Laden only serve to dispel conspiracies among people who shouldn’t be taken seriously anyway. For the record I don’t think the AB photos should have been published either but I don’t consider standing on opposites sides of this argument to be hypocritical.

Pictures of OBL’s corpse would have “enflamed” Arab sentiments. Of course, they would have served only to enflame the sentiments of people who have been cheering for OBL since the beginning. A very small number of religious extremists who have hijacked the religion of peace, right? Well, no. OBL has legions of fans across from Morocco to Indonesia, and even in Toronto and Paris. The idea that the “vast majority” of Muslims hated the man is pure fiction.

Which leads one to wonder…did pictures from Abu Ghraib “enflame Arab sentiments”? Why, as a matter of fact, they did. But that was the purpose.

Claymore

Here’s an idea…we should “inflame” these shitbirds at least once a week, and then carpet bomb where they’re protesting. I figure that within a week or two the problem will take care of itself.

Frankly Opinionated

Ditto. I’m sick of people on both the Left and the Right worrying about what Muslims think about anything that we do.

If we’re going to keep using the excuse “we can’t do X, because our troops are at risk in Shitfuckistan”, then get all our troops out of every Shitfuckistan. Muslims deserve not one more ounce of respect than any other group of people on this planet.

Did we worry about “inflaming” the NAZIs? The Japanese? The USSR?

No.

But we’re bending over backwards for f-cking Muslims? An ideology of hatred, violence, murder and totalitarian world domination since its inception in the 7th Century?

Un-freaking-believable.

People keep stating “releasing the photos doesn’t do us any good”. No. You know what doesn’t do us any good? Coddling Muslims every which way over every MF-ing thing.

Ben

Actually, Michael in MI, we DID worry about inflaming the USSR. Or at least liberals did. If all of this bullshit about winning friends in the Arab world sounds familiar, it’s because it’s a rehash of the Left’s approach to communism. They thought we could defeat communism by bending over backwards to make communists happy. Communism was eventually defeated, but not because of anything liberals did.

And now days they do worry about inflaming the Japanese. They’re in constant apology mode over Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Of course, when it counted, the preeiminent liberal Franklin Delano Roosevelt was rounding up the Japanese and tossing them in camps.

From one article I read a few days ago apparently there is a photo of what appeared to be Laden in that courtyard last year, maybe sometime around August or September when this first started heating up. They were already doing surveillance on that compound. They used facial recognition on the photo.

Can’t they at least release this photo?
