Hasan’s lawyer to ask Ft Hood CG for life instead of death

| April 27, 2011

Yeah, this takes guts; Nidal Hasan’s lawyer (I’m assuming that they’re talking about John Galligan, but they don’t name him in the article) is preparing to ask the new commanding general of fort Hood to drop the death penalty in his client’s case;

Hasan is charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder in the November 2009 shootings. If the death penalty is taken off the table, he will be sentenced to life in prison without parole if convicted, AP reported.

I wonder if it’s too late to ask Hasan to not kill and wound his victims as a condition for not killing him as punishment. The only possible reason I would see the CG accepting the request is to avoid a show trial. I’m firmly opposed to the death penalty, but if there was ever a criminal who needed to be put to death, it’s this scum bag. In fact, I think a public beheading is in order.

Galligan, by the way, defended Leo Church. Church was so upset with Galligan after Church was imprisoned for being AWOL, Church hired James Branum. How screwed up do you have to be to drive your clients to Branum?

Not beheading. Too quick and clean. Hasan doesn’t deserve quick & clean.
Instead, a very, very public and televised hanging. Then leave the body up there for about a week, with daily televised pictures.
If the MSM won’t do it (and I can see that, the liberal leftist wussies), then someone YouTube it.
Call it educational.

PS – and not “life without parole”, either.
Why should my good tax money (and ultimately, that’s where it all comes from) be spent in the upkeep of this Islamofascist nut job?
Unless . . . unless . . . he is put in with the prison general population, and declared “open season”. Now THERE’S a thought . . . . .

While I have my own issues with the death penalty, this is one case where there is no mistake as to who the perp is. I say juice him ’til he’s ash and then get the shop vac out and vacuum up what’s left and call it good.

Jonn-
Absolutely!! Eye for an eye…dead for dead. Too bad we couldn’t do it 13 times.

Death is the place where he wants to go, probably even where he was expecting to go when he first conceived the notion. He was planning on dying that day. For the crimes of which he is guilty of, he doesn’t deserve what he wants. However, all that being said, I concur with #4.

@ #6 – 72 virgins sounded very appealing to him?

Well if that were gonna be the case, best he arrive in paradise as a quadriplegic. THAT would be hell.

Hanged, drawn, and quartered.

I learned early on in my criminal justice program that the death penalty is usually more expensive than life in prison. Since there is no doubt as to Hasan’s guilt, though, speed up the process and put him at the head of the line. Without costly appeals and years before carrying out the sentence, Hasan’s execution can be a bargain.

If Hasan is convicted and receives the death penalty, he’ll live several decades on Death Row, and in that time there may be a POTUS favorable to Muslims who may pardon him. Only the POTUS can confirm the sentence, and only s/he can pardon/commute his sentence.

If the sentence is confirmed, he’ll be hung just after midnight, and buried in an unmarked grave behind the barracks.

I don’t have a problem with the request. I just hope it is denied.
