S. Korea takes back freighter from pirates
I guess South Korea has drawn a line in the sea lanes;
South Korean special forces stormed a hijacked freighter in the Arabian Sea on Friday, rescuing all 21 crew members and killing eight assailants in a rare and bold raid on Somali pirates, South Korea said.
The military operation in waters between Oman and Africa, which also captured five pirates and left one crew member wounded, came a week after the Somali attackers seized the South Korean freighter and held hostage eight South Koreans, two Indonesians and 11 citizens from Myanmar.
“We will not tolerate any behavior that threatens the lives and safety of our people in the future,” South Korean President Lee Myung-bak said in a brief televised statement, adding that the rescue was a “perfect operation.”
Now, the fight against pirates is just becoming a battle drill. I wonder if the pirates are considering it risky behavior yet.

What is the difference between the presidents of South Korea and the United States?
A pair of stones.
Why isn’t our Dear Leader going to the Glorious World Body the UN, and asking them to help? BAH
Our dear leader is too busy writing his next autoboigraphy called “We won”.
He has failed to learn from history. In the Barbary Coast where America first excersiced it’s new found military muscle and defeated the Muslim pirates of Tripoli, Tunis, and Algiers and Morocco in 1805. Then we had to go in and do it again in 1815. That historical reference would lead me to understand that only overwhelming military force, not the paying of tributes (ransom) while stop additional piracy. Wow, history really does repeat itself.
I think it’s good that other nations are standing up to the pirates. I know we’re referred to as “the world’s policemen,” but the fact is that the other nations need to protect, or help protect, international shipping from pirates, too.
So, when will Korea be denounced for waging an unjust war on the poor pirates who are just trying to scratch out a living in this down economy?
I bet they were ROK Marines.
I have a couple of former marine Buddies who having nothing but love for their Marine Cousins in S Korea
According to guys I know who have worked with them, the ROKs don’t f#ck around.
After I left the Cav I was assigned as a liason NCO with the 30th Reg. 9th Korean Inf. Div. (White Horse) in Vietnam. They absolutely adored America and Americans. When I asked why they were in Vietnam, (not knowing about SEATO at the time), the answer was, “because you are here.” Many were young boys during the Korean War and never forgot the kindness of the GI’s to them. (something the media never portrays…as usual)
I would also say that they were some of the most disciplined, badest asses, I ever fought with. Like our own, when I was wounded they risked all to get me out.
The “dear leader” doesn’t have a friggin’ clue what he would be up against and I’m sure tells his military that they are the same as they were in 50′.
Our Korean War Vets need a standing ovation daily for what they did for these people and the Koreans should take a bow, and the Middle East a lesson, in what you can do with FREEDOM! Ask any Korean War Vet if when he left he’d believe we’d ever be buying good cars and electronics and appliances from the South Koreans and he’d have laughed in your face.
Here’s to a people I truly love!
Honor and Courage
